    MaintenanceThis section describes maintenance tasks such as cleaning the projector and 
    replacing consumable parts.Cleaning
    You should clean the projector if it becomes dirty or if the quality of 
    projected images starts to deteriorate.
    Clean the projector case by wiping it gently with a soft cloth.
    If the projector is particularly dirty, moisten the cloth with water 
    containing a small amount of neutral detergent, and then firmly wring the 
    cloth dry before using it to wipe the projector case. Then wipe the case 
    again with a soft, dry cloth.
    Use a commercially-available air blower, or use lens cleaning paper to 
    clean the lens.If the air filters become clogged with dust, or if the message The projector 
    is over heating. Clean or replace the airfilter and l ower the room 
    temperature. appears on the screen, clean the air filters and the air intake 
    vent.
    If the air filters become clogged with dust, it can cause overheating and 
    damage the projector.

    Cleaning the Lens
    CAUTION
    Be sure to read the separate Safety Instructions/World-Wide Warranty 
    Terms before cleaning.
    CAUTION
    Do not use volatile substances such as wax, alcohol or thinner to 
    clean the projector case. These can cause the case to warp and make 
    the coating finish peel off.
    CAUTION
    Do not rub the lens with harsh materials or subject the lens to shocks, 
    as it can easily become damaged.

    Place the projector flat and use a vacuum cleaner to clean the air intake 
    vent.
    TIP
     If the air filters are broken or if the warning message reappears after 
    they have been cleaned, they should be replaced. Replace them with 
    new air filters. See Appendices: Optional Accessories   p.141
     Spare lamps are provided with spare air filters. The air filters should 
    also be replaced when the lamp is replaced.

    This section describes how to replace the lamp and the air filters.
    It is time to replace the lamp when:
    The message Lamp Replace. appears on the screen when 
    projection star ts.The   indicator is flashing orange
    The projected images get darker or start to deteriorate in quality.Lamp Replacement Period
    A message will be displayed.

    TIP
     The lamp replacement message is set to appear after the following 
    periods of time in order to maintain the initial brightness and quality 
    of the projected images.
    EMP-9300: Approx. 6900 hours
    EMP-8300:
    ·With continuous use at high brightness: Approx. 1900 hours
    ·With continuous use at low brightness: Approx. 2900 hours

    If you continue to use the lamp after this period, the possibility of the 
    lamp breaking becomes greater.  When the lamp replacement 
    message appears, replace the lamp with a new one as soon as 
    possible, even if it is still working.
     Depending on the characteristics of the lamp and on the way it has 
    been used, the lamp may become darker or stop working before the 
    lamp warning message appears. You should always have a spare 
    lamp ready in case it is needed.
     Contact your dealer for a spare lamp.

    PROCEDURE
    Turn the projectors power off, wait for the cool-down 
    period to end, and then disconnect the power cable.
    The cool-down period lasts for about 30 seconds.
    Wait until the lamp has cooled down, and then 
    remove the lamp cover from the base of the projector.
    It takes a further one hour after the cool-down period has 
    finished for the lamp to be cool enough.
    Use the screwdriver that is supplied with the spare lamp or 
    some other Phillips screwdriver to remove the two lamp cover 
    fixing screws. Be careful not to let the lamp cover fall down 
    after the fixing screws have been removed.Loosen the three lamp fixing screws.
    Use the screwdriver that is supplied with the spare lamp or 
    some other Phillips screwdriver to loosen the three lamp fixing 
    screws that are securing the lamp to the projector.
    Replacing the Lamp
    CAUTION
     If you are replacing the lamp because it has stopped working, it is 
    possible that the lamp is broken.
    If replacing the lamp of a projector which has been installed to the 
    ceiling, you should always assume that the lamp is broken and be 
    extremely careful when removing the lamp cover.
     Wait until the lamp has cooled down sufficiently before removing the 
    lamp cover. It takes a further one hour after the cool-down
    period 
    has finished for the lamp to be cool enough.

    TIP
    If the projector has been installed on the ceiling and the cable cover 
    has been attached, remove the cable cover before proceeding.   p.35

    Take out the old lamp.
    Fold out the handle as shown in the illustration below and pull 
    the lamp straight out of the projector while supporting it with 
    one hand so that it does not drop.
    If the lamp is broken, replace it with a new lamp, or contact 
    your local dealer for further advice. If replacing the lamp 
    yourself, be careful to avoid pieces of broken glass.Install the new lamp.
    Hold the lamp so that it faces the correct way to fit into the 
    projector, insert the lamp until it clicks into place, and then fold 
    down the handle and secure it by engaging the tab.
    Tighten the three lamp fixing screws.Install the lamp cover.
    Insert the cover tab at the top of the lamp cover into the 
    projector, and then install the lamp cover and tighten the two 
    lamp cover fixing screws.

    The projector has a built-in counter which keeps track of the lamp 
    operating time, so that when the cumulative operating time reaches a 
    certain point, it causes the replacement warning message to be displayed. 
    Therefore, the counter needs to be reset using the configuration menu after 
    the lamp has been replaced with a new one.
    PROCEDURE
    Connect the power cable, turn on the projectors 
    power, and then press the [Menu] button on the 
    remote control.
    The configuration menu will be displayed.Select Reset Lamp Timer from the About menu 
    and then press the [Enter] button on the remote 
    control or the [Auto/Enter] button on the projectors 
    control panel.
    Resetting the Lamp Operating Time
    TIP
     Install the lamp securely. If the lamp cover is removed, the lamp turns 
    of automatically as a safety precaution. Moreover, the lamp will not 
    turn on if the lamp or the lamp cover is not installed correctly.
     Spare lamps are provided with spare air filters. The air filters should 
    also be replaced when the lamp is replaced.   p.136
     Dispose of used lamps properly in accordance with your local 
    regulations.
    TIP
    Do not reset the lamp operating time except after the lamp has been 
    replaced. If the lamp operating time is reset at any other time, the 
    lamp replacement period will not be indicated correctly.

    Select Yes and then press the [Enter] button on the 
    remote control or the [Auto/Enter] button on the 
    projectors control panel.
    The lamp operating time will then be reset.
    The air filters can be replaced even if the projector is installed on a ceiling.PROCEDURE

    Put your finger into the recess of an air filter cover, 
    and slide the air filter cover to the outside to remove 
    it.
    The projector has two air filter covers.Remove the old air filter that is in the air filter cover.
    Insert the screwdriver that is supplied with the spare lamp or 
    some other flat-tipped screwdriver into the space between the 
    air filter and the air filter cover as shown in the illustration 
    below, and push it backwards to remove the air filter.

    Install new air filters into the air filter covers.
    Insert one of the tabs on an air filter into the air filter cover, and 
    then press down on the other tab until it clicks into place.After replacing the two air filters, install the air filter 
    covers.
    Slide the air filter covers in from the outside and push them in 
    until they click into place.

    Saving a Users LogoYou can record the image that is currently being projected as a users logo.
    PROCEDURE
    Project the image that you would like to use as a 
    users logo, and then press the [Menu] button on 
    either the remote control or the projectors control 
    panel.Select the Users Logo menu, and then press the 
    [Enter] button on the remote control or the [Auto/
    Enter] button on the projectors control panel.
    Select Yes in the sub-menu, and then press the 
    [Enter] button on the remote control or the [Auto/
    Enter] button on the projectors control panel.
    TIP
    When a users logo is recorded, the previous users logo will be 
    erased.12

    TIP
     With the EMP-9300, a users logo cannot be recorded if the Users 
    Logo Protect function of Password Protect has been set to ON.
    Cancel the Password Protect function before recording a users logo.

     If keystone correction or the E-Zoom function have been used, they 
    will be cancelled when the Users Logo menu is selected.3

    When you press the [Enter] button on the remote control or the [Auto/
    Enter] button on the projectors control panel, the images will be 
    projected at their original image signal resolution, so that when you 
    are projecting images which have a resolution that is different from 
    the number of pixels on the projectors panel, and when you are 
    projecting video images, the display size will change.

    The image to be recorded and a selection marquee 
    box will be displayed, so move the marquee box to 
    select the part of the image to use.
    Tilt the [ ] button on the remote control or press the [Sync +], 
    [Sync -], [Tracking +] and [Tracking -] buttons on the 
    projectors control panel to select the part of the image to use as 
    the users logo, and then press the [Enter] button on the remote 
    control or the [Auto/Enter] button on the projectors control 
    panel.
    Select Yes at the confirmation screen, and then 
    press the [Enter] button on the remote control or the 
    [Auto/Enter] button on the projectors control panel.Select the zoom rate in the Zoom rate setting screen, 
    and then press the [Enter] button on the remote 
    control or the [Auto/Enter] button on the projectors 
    control panel.
