Is the [R/C] switch at the ON position?Set the [R/C] switch to the ON position. p.37Is the remote control light-emitting area
facing towards the remote control light-
receiving area when it is operated?
Face the remote control towards the remote control light-receiving area.
The operating angle for the remote control is approximately ±30º horizontally and approximately
    ±15º vertically. p.14
Is the remote control too far from the
projector? The operating range for the remote control is approximately 10 m. p.14
If operating the remote control from a distance or if you would like to ensure that remote control
operations work properly, use the optional remote control cable kit. p.132
Is direct sunlight or strong light from
fluorescent lamps shining onto the remote
    control light-receiving area?
Set the projector up in a location where strong light will not shine onto the remote control light-
    receiving area.
Are the batteries dead, or have the batteries
been inserted correctly?Insert new batteries, while making sure that they face correctly. p.12
Does the remote controls ID number match
    the projectors ID number?
If the remote controls ID number is set to a number other than 0, the ID number must match the
projectors ID number, otherwise the remote control will not work. p.69

not using the remote control cable kit, disconnect the remote control cable from the [Remote] port of
either the remote control or the projector.

MaintenanceThis section describes maintenance tasks such as cleaning the projector and
    replacing consumable parts.Cleaning
You should clean the projector if it becomes dirty or if the quality of
    projected images starts to deteriorate.
Clean the projector case by wiping it gently with a soft cloth.
If the projector is particularly dirty, moisten the cloth with water
containing a small amount of neutral detergent, and then firmly wring the
cloth dry before using it to wipe the projector case. Then wipe the case
again with a soft, dry cloth.
Use a commercially-available air blower, or use lens cleaning paper to
clean the lens.If the air filters become clogged with dust, or if the message The projector
is overheated. Clean or replace the air filter and lower the room
temperature. appears on the screen, clean the air filters and the air intake
    vent.
If the air filters become clogged with dust, it can cause overheating and
    damage the projector.
Air filter in base of projector
Stand the projector up and use a vacuum cleaner to clean the air filter.Cleaning the Projector Case
    Cleaning the Lens
    CAUTION
Be sure to read the separate Safety Instructions/World-Wide Warranty
    Terms before cleaning.
    CAUTION
Do not use volatile substances such as wax, alcohol or thinner to
clean the projector case. These can cause the case to warp and make
    the coating finish peel off.
    CAUTION
Do not rub the lens with harsh materials or subject the lens to shocks,
as it can easily become damaged.

Air intake vent in side of projector
Place the projector flat and use a vacuum cleaner to clean the air intake
    vent.
    Replacing Consumables
This section describes how to replace the lamp and the air filters.
It is time to replace the lamp when:
The message Lamp Replace. appears on the screen when
projection star ts.The indicator is flashing orange
The projected images get darker or start to deteriorate in quality.
    TIP
If the air filters are broken or if the warning message reappears after
they have been cleaned, they should be replaced. Replace them with
new air filters. See Appendices: Optional Accessories p.132
Spare lamps are provided with spare air filters. The air filters should
also be replaced when the lamp is replaced.

    Maintenance Maintenance
    PROCEDURE
Turn the projectors power off, wait for the cool-down
period to end, and then disconnect the power cable.
The cool-down period lasts for about 30 seconds.
    TIP
The replacement warning message is set to appear after about 1900
hours of lamp use in order to maintain the initial brightness and
quality of the projected images. If you continue to use the lamp after
this period, the possibility of the lamp breaking becomes greater.
When the lamp replacement message appears, replace the lamp with
a new one as soon as possible, even if it is still working.
The warning message appears after about 1900 hours of use, but the
actual life of each individual lamp will vary depending on the
characteristics of the lamp and on the way it has been used, and
some lamps may stop operating before 1900 hours of use. You should
always have a spare lamp ready in case it is needed.
Contact your dealer for a spare lamp.
    Replacing the Lamp
    CAUTION
If you are replacing the lamp because it has stopped working, it is
possible that the lamp is broken.
If replacing the lamp of a projector which has been installed to the
ceiling, you should always assume that the lamp is broken and be
extremely careful when removing the lamp cover.
Wait until the lamp has cooled down sufficiently before removing the
lamp cover. It takes a further one hour after the cool-down
    period
has finished for the lamp to be cool enough.
    1
    TIP
If the projector has been installed on the ceiling and the cable cover
has been attached, remove the cable cover before proceeding. p.34

    Maintenance Maintenance
Wait until the lamp has cooled down, and then
remove the lamp cover from the base of the projector.
It takes a further one hour after the cool-down period has
finished for the lamp to be cool enough.
Use the screwdriver that is supplied with the spare lamp or
some other Phillips screwdriver to remove the two lamp cover
fixing screws. Be careful not to let the lamp cover fall down
after the fixing screws have been removed.Loosen the three lamp fixing screws.
Use the screwdriver that is supplied with the spare lamp or
some other Phillips screwdriver to loosen the three lamp fixing
screws that are securing the lamp to the projector.
    Take out the old lamp.
Fold out the handle as shown in the illustration below and pull
the lamp straight out of the projector while supporting it with
one hand so that it does not drop.
If the lamp is broken, replace it with a new lamp, or contact
your local dealer for further advice. If replacing the lamp
yourself, be careful to avoid pieces of broken glass.Install the new lamp.
Hold the lamp so that it faces the correct way to fit into the
projector, insert the lamp until it clicks into place, and then fold
down the handle and secure it by engaging the tab.

Insert the cover tab at the top of the lamp cover into the
projector, and then install the lamp cover and tighten the two
    lamp cover fixing screws.
The projector has a built-in counter which keeps track of the lamp
operating time, so that when the cumulative operating time reaches a
certain point, it causes the replacement warning message to be displayed.
Therefore, the counter needs to be reset using the configuration menu after
the lamp has been replaced with a new one.
    67
    Resetting the Lamp Operating Time
    TIP
Install the lamp securely. If the lamp cover is removed, the lamp turns
of automatically as a safety precaution. Moreover, the lamp will not
turn on if the lamp or the lamp cover is not installed correctly.
Spare lamps are provided with spare air filters. The air filters should
also be replaced when the lamp is replaced. p.127
Dispose of used lamps properly in accordance with your local
    regulations.
    TIP
Do not reset the lamp operating time except after the lamp has been
replaced. If the lamp operating time is reset at any other time, the
lamp replacement period will not be indicated correctly.
