77 6 Maintaining the Projector Your projector needs little maintenance. All you have to do is keep the lens clean. You may also need to clean the air filter and vent. A clogged air filter or vent can block ventilation needed to cool the projector. The only parts you should replace ar e the lamp and air filter. If necessary, moisten a soft cloth with lens cleaner and gently wipe the lens. If dust collects on the air filter or vent, clean them as described below. Dust clogs prevent proper ventilat ion and can cause overheating and damage the projector. If you see the following message, clean the air filter immediately. The projector is overheating. Make sure nothing is blocking the air vent, and clean or replace the air filter. 1. 80Maintaining the Projector Replacing the Lamp and Air Filter The life span of the projection lamp is about 5000 hours if Brightness Control in the Setting menu is set to High (default), and 6000 hours if Brightness Control is set to Low. It is time to replace the lamp when: ■The projected image gets darker or starts to deteriorate. ■The message Replace the lamp appears on the screen when the lamp comes on and the lamp warning light flashes orange.
