31Chapter4PowerSavingFunctions Chapter 4 Power Saving Functions 4-1. Setting Power Saving ●Monitor This function allows you to specify whether to set the monitor into the power saving mode, depending on the state of an external device connected to it. When the monitor has shifted to the power saving mode, the images on the screen are not displayed. Attention • Turning off the main power switch or unplugging the power cord completely shuts off power supply to the monitor. • P ower consumption varies even when the stereo mini jack cable is connected. • F ive seconds before the monitor enters the power saving mode, it displays a preliminary message. Procedure 1. C hoose from the Adjustment menu, and press . 2. C hoose from the menu, and press . The menu appears. 3. Select “On” or “Off ” with or . 4. P ress to exit the adjustment. Power Saving System Analog Signal Input This monitor complies with the VESA DPMS standard. Procedure 1. C hoose from the Adjustment menu, and press . 2. C hoose from the menu, and press . The menu appears. 3. Select “On” or “Off ” with or . 4. P ress to exit the adjustment. Attention • No audio is output while the monitor is in the Power Saving mode, if input signal and sound source are of HDMI. 4-2. Setting Power Indicator This function allows you to set the power indicator (blue) ON/OFF in the monitor ON condition. Procedure 1. C hoose from the Adjustment menu, and press . 2. Enabling/Disabling Automatic Brightness Adjustment “Auto EcoView” The sensor on the front side of the monitor detects the environmental brightness to adjust the screen brightness automatically and comfortably by using the Auto EcoView function. Attention • Be careful not to block the sensor on the lower side of the monitor when using the Auto EcoView function. Procedure 1. P ress . The “EcoView” menu appears. 2. Choose “Auto EcoView” with or . (Alternatively, you can use to select it.) 3. Se lect “On” or “Off ” with or . 4. P ress to exit the adjustment. Note • For this reason, as in the Adjustment menu is changed, the auto adjustment range is also changed. 4- 4. Setting Indicator “EcoView Index” By using the EcoView Index function, the indicator that shows the level of power saving appears at the time of turning on the monitor, adjusting the brightness or switching the FineContrast mode. The power saving ratio comes to high as the indicator level meter lights towards right. Procedure 1. P ress . The “EcoView” menu appears. 2. Choose “EcoView Index” with or . (Alternatively, you can use to select it.) 3. Se lect “On” or “Off ” with or . 4. P ress to exit the adjustment. 4-5. Enabling/Disabling Auto Power-OFF This function allows you to specify whether to turn on/off the monitor automatically after a specified time has elapsed in the power saving mode. Adjustable range Disable, Enable (0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 45 min, 1-5 h) Procedure 1. C hoose from the Adjustment menu, and press . 2. C hoose from the menu, and press . Connecting Multiple External Devices The product has multiple connections to external devices and allows you to switch to one of the connections for display. Attention • It is assumed the touch panel monitor will be used with one computer. When the monitor is to be connected to multiple computers, connect a USB cable (MD-C93) to the computer used for touch operation (one unit only). • D o not use dual link cables. No picture • P ower indicator does not light.• C heck whether the power cord is connected properly. • T urn off the main power, and then turn it on again a f ew minutes later. • T urn the main power switch on. • Pr ess . • P ower indicator is lighting blue. • I ncrease , , and/or i n the Adjustment menu (see “To perform advanced a djustments” (page 19)). • P ower indicator is lighting orange. • S witch the input signal with . • O perate the mouse or keyboard. • C heck whether the external device is turned on. 2. T he message below appears. This message appears when the signal is not input c orrectly even when the monitor functions properly. • T his message appears when no signal is i nput. Example: •The message shown left may appear, because some e xternal devices do not output the signal soon after p ower-on. • C heck whether the external device is turned on. • C heck w hether t he s ignal c able i s c onnected p roperly. • S witch the input signal with . • T he m essage s hows t hat t he i nput s ignal i s o ut o f the specified frequency range. (Such signal f requency is displayed in red.) Refer to the manual of the graphics b oard for details.

(The LCD monitor backlight has a l imited life span. When the screen becomes dark or b egins to flicker, contact your local dealer.) • T urn on the Auto EcoView function. The monitor d etects the environmental brightness to adjust the s creen brightness automatically. 4. C haracters are blurred. • C heck whether the PC is configured to meet the r esolution and vertical scan frequency requirements o f the monitor (see “2-1. Compatible Resolutions/ Formats” (page 13)). • U se in the Adjustment menu to adjust it ( see “ To m odify b lurred c haracters/lines < Smoothing>” (p age 18)). 5. A fterimages appear. • A fterimages are particular to LCD monitors. Avoid d isplaying the same image for a long time. • U se the screen saver or power save function to avoid d isplaying the same image for extended periods of t ime. 6. G reen/red/blue/white dots or defective dots remain on the screen. • T his is due to LCD panel characteristics and is not a f ailure. 7. I nterference patterns or pressure marks remain on the screen. • Le ave the monitor with a white or black screen. The s ymptom may disappear. 8. N oise appears on the screen. • I n the Adjustment menu, set to “Off” (see “ To set overdrive intensity ” (page 25)). • W hen entering the signals of HDCP system, the n ormal images may not be displayed immediately. 9. T he screen is whitish or blackish. • U se (see “To adjust black level ” (page 21)) and (see “To adjust c ontrast ” (page 21)) in - under the Adjustment menu to adjust it. Imaging problems (for digital only) ProblemPossible cause and remedy 10. The color shown on the display is not correct (for HDMI input). • C hange the color space of the video signal in < Others>- u nder t he A djustment m enu. 11. T he screen flashes (for HDMI input) • T ransmittable signals differ on the category of the H DMI cable. Check whether the cable support High S peed.

Display position is incorrect.•Use in the Adjustment menu to correct the i mage position (see “To correct the screen position < Position>” (page 17)). • I f the problem persists, use the graphics board’s utility i f available to change the display position. 13. V ertical bars appear on the screen or a part of the image is flickering. •Use in the Adjustment menu to adjust it (see “ To eliminate vertical bars ” (page 16)). 14. The icon on the Adjustment menu cannot be selected. • Y ou cannot choose the smoothing icon when the s creen is displayed in the following resolutions or s ettings. - T he resolution is 1920 × 1080 - “ Normal” is selected from in the A djustment menu. 16. T he adjustment menu does not appear. • C heck whether the operation lock function works (see “ 3- 4. Locking Buttons” (page 29)). 17. N o mode name is displayed. • C heck that the Adjustment menu is not active. 18. T he auto adjustment function does not work. • T his function does not work during digital signal input. • T his function is intended for use on the Macintosh a nd on AT-compatible PC running Windows. It does n ot work properly when an image is displayed only o n a part of the screen (command prompt window, for e xample) o r w hen ab lack b ackground ( wallpaper, e tc.) i s in use. • T his function does not work correctly with some g raphics boards. 19. N o audio output. • C heck w hether t he s tereo m ini j ack c able i s c onnected p roperly. • C heck whether volume is set to 0. • C heck the current external device and audio playback s oftware to see whether they are configured correctly. • I f HDMI input is used, check the current external d evice and the setting in the Adjustment m enu (see “3-2. Switching sound source for HDMI s ignal input ” (page 27)). 20. “ ScreenManager Pro for LCD (DDC/CI)” does not run. • “ ScreenManager Pro for LCD (DDC/CI)” does not run w hen a PC is connected to the HDMI input.

Touch operation is disabled. • T he touch panel driver must be installed when this p roduct is used as a touch panel monitor. Check w hether the driver has been installed correctly in a ccordance w ith t he I nstallation G uide o n t he s upplied C D-ROM. • C heck that the monitor and PC are connected with a U SB cable. 22. N o sound is heard when the panel is touched. • D epending on the hardware configuration of the PC, n o sound may be output from its audio output terminal w hen the screen is touched. 23. T he cursor is not positioned correctly. • U se the calibration utility to perform the calibration. 24. T he cursor moves irregularly or flips. • I f the surface or a side of the panel is dirty, clean it. • C heck the setting environment of the monitor. This f unction does not work correctly under the following c onditions. - T he panel surface is subject to direct or indirect s unlight or strong light. - T here is some infrared device near the monitor. - M onitors are adjacent to each other. • A touch insensitive point on the panel may be t ouched. • T ouch the panel with your finger, the supplied touch p en, or a non-reflective object that has no risk of d amaging the panel surface. If any of the following is used, the touch panel does n ot work correctly. - O bject whose surface changes in shape when t ouching the panel, such as a glove - M irror-like reflective object - T ransparent object such as an acrylic one - T hin-edged object • I f an arm (or other stand) is attached, use the monitor i n landscape view mode. If the monitor is used i n portrait view mode, the monitor does not work c orrectly. (This product does not support portrait view m ode when an arm (or other stand) is attached.) • T his product supports up to two simultaneous t ouches (multi-touch support). Since the two sensors at both top corners of the screen are used to detect t ouches, the monitor may not be able to detect two s imultaneous touches precisely depending on their p ositions. Attention • For information on the operating conditions of the touch panel driver and calibration utility and how to install or operate them, see the Installation Guide included on the supplied CD-ROM.
