21Chapter2Adjusting Screens ●To adjust black level You can adjust the black level of images. Adjustable range -50 to 50 Procedure 1. C hoose from the Adjustment menu, and press . 2. C hoose from the menu, and press . The menu appears. 3. Use or for adjustment. 4. P ress to exit the adjustment. Note • After completing black level adjustment, readjust the contrast as appropriate. ●To adjust contrast The brightness of the screen is adjusted by varying the video signal level. Adjustable range 0 to 100% Procedure 1. C hoose from the Adjustment menu, and press . 2. C hoose from the menu, and press . The menu appears. 3. Use or for adjustment. 4. P ress to exit the adjustment. Note • In the contrast of 50%, every color gradation is displayed (for PC input signal only). • W hen adjusting the monitor, it is recommended to perform the brightness adjustment which may not lose the gradation characteristics, prior to the contrast adjustment. • P erform the contrast adjustment in the following cases. - When you feel the image is too dark even if the brightness is set to 100% (Set the contrast to higher than 50%.) - When you feel the image is too bright even if the brightness is set to 0% (Set the contrast to lower than 50%.)
22Chapter2Adjusting Screens ●To adjust color temperature Color temperature can be adjusted. The color temperature is normally used to express the hue of “White” and/or “Black” by a numerical value. The value is expressed in degrees “K” (Kelvin). The screen becomes reddish at a low color temperature, and bluish at a high color temperature, like the flame temperature. A gain preset value is set for each color temperature setting value. Adjustable range Off, 4000K-10000K (specified by every 500K unit, including 9300K) Procedure 1. C hoose from the Adjustment menu, and press . 2. C hoose from the menu, and press . The menu appears. 3. Use or for adjustment. 4. P ress to exit the adjustment. Note • allows you to perform more advanced adjustment (see “To adjust gain ” (page 24) ). • I f you set to “Off ”, the image is displayed in the preset color of the monitor (Gain: 100% for each RGB). • W hen gain is changed, the color temperature is changed to “Off ”. ●To adjust gamma Gamma can be adjusted. The brightness of the monitor varies depending on the input signal, however, the variation rate is not proportional to the input signal. To keep the balance between the input signal and the brightness of the monitor is called as “Gamma correction”. Adjustable range 1.8, 2.0, 2.2, Power Procedure 1. C hoose from the Adjustment menu, and press . 2. C hoose from the menu, and press . The menu appears. 3. Use or for adjustment. 4. P ress to exit the adjustment. Note • Choosing Power will help to sharpen halftone images by increasing their contrast.

Attention • Using this function may make some color gradations unavailable for display. Note • The minimum value (-128) changes the screen to monochrome. ●To adjust hue This function allows you to adjust hue. Adjustable range -32 to 32 Procedure 1. 24Chapter2Adjusting Screens ●To adjust gain The brightness of each color component red, green, and blue is called “Gain”. You can change the hue of “white” by adjusting gain. Adjustable range 0 to 100% Procedure 1. C hoose from the Adjustment menu, and press . 2. C hoose from the menu, and press . The menu appears. 3. Adjust gain with or for each of red, green, and blue. 4. P ress to exit the adjustment. Attention • Using this function may make some color gradations unavailable for display. Note • The value of gain changes with that of color temperature. • W hen gain is changed, the color temperature is changed to “Off ”. ●To reduce image blur You can reduce image blur by enhancing its outline. Adjustable range Off, 1, 2, 3 Procedure 1. C hoose from the Adjustment menu, and press . 2. C hoose from the menu, and press . The menu appears. 3. Use or for adjustment. 4. P ress to exit the adjustment. Note • If you keep pressing the or button for two seconds or more while < Power Resolution > is displayed, the monitor enters the demo mode. To return to normal display, keep pressing or for at least two seconds. - Left half of screen: P ower Resolution On - Right half of screen: P ower Resolution Off
25Chapter2Adjusting Screens ●To set overdrive intensity This function allows you to set overdrive intensity based on the use of the monitor. You can reduce Image lags by setting it to “Enhanced” when displaying animated images. Adjustable range Enhanced, Standard, Off Procedure 1. C hoose from the Adjustment menu, and press . 2. Attention • The overdrive function is disabled in the following cases: - The vertical scan frequency of input signals is more than 60 Hz. - Select “Normal” during (excluding the case that display resolution is 1920 × 1080).
26Chapter2Adjusting Screens 2-5. Changing the Screen Size ●To change screen size If a resolution other than recommended is used, the image displayed in full screen automatically. You can change the screen size by using from menu. Setting Function AutoThe monitor automatically changes the screen size according to the aspect ratio and r esolution information from the external device. This can be set only for HDMI (SD S ignal) input. Full Screen Displays an image in full screen. Images are distorted in some cases because the v ertical rate is not equal to the horizontal rate. Enlarged Displays an image in full screen. In some cases, a blank horizontal or vertical border a ppears to equalize the vertical rate and the horizontal rate. Normal Displays images with the specified resolution. Example: Image size 1024 × 768 FullScreenEn largedNormal (1920×1080)( 1440 × 1080)(1024 × 768) Procedure 1. C hoose from the Adjustment menu, and press . 2. C hoose from the menu, and press . The Screen Size menu appears. 3. Select “Auto”, “Full Screen,” “Enlarged,” or “Normal” with or . 4. P ress to exit the adjustment. Attention • Selecting “Normal” may make some color gradations unavailable for display. ●To change the brightness of the non-display area A border (black area with no image) around the image appears in the “Normal” or “Enlarged” mode. Switching sound source for HDMI signal input This function allows you to switch sound source for HDMI signal input. You can select the HDMI or stereo mini jack. Procedure 1. C hoose from the Adjustment menu, and press . 2. C hoose from the menu, and press . The Source adjustment menu appears. 3. Select “HDMI” or “Stereo Mini Jack” with or . 4. P ress to exit the adjustment. Note • This function is available with HDMI signal input. However, if a DVI-HDMI adapter cable is used, the sound source is automatically “Stereo Mini Jack” and cannot be changed.

Note • The display time of the FineContrast mode, EcoView menu and EcoView Index remains unchanged.

Locking Buttons This function allows you to lock to prevent changing the current adjustments/settings. Procedure 1. P ress to turn off the monitor. 2. H olding down, press for at least two seconds to turn on the monitor. You can toggle between Lock and Unlock by performing steps 1 and 2. 3-5. Setting the EIZO Logo Display When the monitor is turned on, the EIZO logo appears on the screen. You can choose to display or not to display the EIZO logo. Procedure 1. P ress to turn off the monitor. 2. P ress holding down to turn on the monitor. The EIZO logo display setting is toggled by performing the operation in steps 1 and 2. 3-6. Setting Language This function allows you to select a language for the Adjustment menu and messages. Selectable languages English/German/French/Spanish/Italian/Swedish/Simplified Chinese/Traditional Chinese/Japanese Procedure 1. C hoose from the Adjustment menu, and press . 2. C hoose from the menu, and press . The menu appears. 3. Choose a language with / / / . 4. P ress to exit the adjustment.
30Chapter3SettingMonitor 3-7. Enabling/Disabling DDC/CI communication This function allows you to enable/disable the DDC/CI communication (see “7-4. Glossary” (page 46)). Procedure 1. P ress to turn off the monitor. 2. P ress holding down to turn on the monitor. You can toggle between Enable and Disable by performing steps 1 and 2. Note • You can check the DDC/CI setting in the menu. • H DMI input does not support DDC/CI communication. 3-8. Resetting the Monitor to the Default Settings There are two different Resets: Color Reset for only resetting the color adjustments to the default settings and Full Reset for resetting all settings to the defaults. Attention • After resetting, you cannot undo the operation. Note • Regarding the default setting, see “Main Default Settings” (page 44) . ●To reset the color adjustments This function only resets the color adjustments for the currently selected mode to the default settings.
