EN-20 Position the projector in a horizontal position; other positions can cause heat build-up and damage to the projector. Make sure the heat ventilation holes are not blocked. Do not use the projector in a smoky environment. Smoke residue may cause buildup on critical parts. EN-21 Menu Operation The projector has multilingual on-screen display menus that allow you to make image adjustments and change a variety of settings. How to operate 1. Press MENU to display the on-screen menu. 2. Press S / T to select any feature in the main menu, then press X to move into that menu. 3. Press S / T to select a setting, then press MENU to begin adjusting the setting. 4. Press W / X / S / T to adjust the setting, as prompted. 5. Press MENU to return to the menu. 6. To go to a different menu, press W and select a menu. 7. To close the on-screen menu, press Back button. „If you do nothing for a period of time, the on-screen menu closes. To change the amount of time until the on-screen menu closes, press MENU and select Setup > Timeout for menu. „To exit from any on-screen menu or adjustment, press Back.

EN-22 Setup Menu Keystone Adjusts image distortion caused by tilting projection. Reset keystone Resets the keystone correction to zero (no correction). Volume Adjusts the loudness of the projector’s audio. Mute Temporarily turns off the projector’s audio. Projector position Adjusts the picture to match the orientation of the projector: upright or upside-down, in front of or behind the screen. Inverts or reverses the image accordingly. Lamp saver Sets a lower power level for the lamp. Language Selects the language used by the on-screen menu. Hide Hides the screen and mutes the sound. Advanced setup Adjusts additional setup settings. „Power timeout Sets the length of time the projector waits for an input signal before automatically shutting down. „Clean edges Enlarges and clips video images to remove noise from picture edges. „Timeout for menu Sets how many seconds the on-screen menu waits for input before it closes. „Horizontal size Fine-tunes the width of the image for multi-projector setups. „Reset lamp hours For a new lamp, resets the hours of use. „Projector lock Sets or cancels a secret button sequence that must be entered for the projector to operate. „Reset all settings Restores all menu settings to factory default settings.

EN-23 Picture Menu Changing these settings affects only the active source. Some picture adjustments are available only when certain input ports are in use. Unavailable adjustments are shown in gray in the on-screen menu. Color settings Adjusts the image and colors. „Brightness Brightens or darkens the image. „Contrast Sets the difference between light and dark areas. „Sharpness Sharpens or softens the image. „Color saturation Adjusts the intensity of colors. „Tint Shifts colors toward red or green. „Reset color settings Restores these color settings to the default settings. Advanced color Adjusts the individual colors in the image. „Red Adjusts the amount of red in the image. „Green Adjusts the amount of green in the image. „Blue Adjusts the amount of blue in the image. „Reset advanced settings Restores the advanced color settings to their default values. VGA settings Adjusts settings for a computer input. „Auto-sync Resynchronizes the projector with the input. If a VGA input image looks incorrect, press auto-sync to try correcting the image.

EN-24 „Frequency Adjusts the timing of the projector relative to the computer. „Tracking Adjusts the phase of the projector relative to the computer. „Vertical offset Adjusts the image up or down within the projection area. „Horizontal offset Adjusts the image left or right within the projection area. Picture mode Selects the Video/Graphics/Custom mode. Customize picture mode can be selected when Custom mode is selected. Customize picture mode Changes settings associated with the current picture mode. „Picture enhancement Refines the color, lightness, and other characteristics of the picture. „White intensity Increases the brightness of white areas. „Color temperature Shifts color toward red or blue. „Aspect ratio Selects how the picture fits on the screen: O Best fit: automatically fits the picture without stretching it. O 1-to-1: shows each picture dot as one projected dot. O Reduced: fits a standard-shape picture onto a widescreen projection screen. O Full: uses the entire projector resolution screen size, with stretching permitted. „Reset this picture mode Restores the current picture mode to its default settings.

EN-25 Source Menu VG A Shows the source connected to the VGA-in port. Composite video Shows the source connected to the composite-video port. S-video Shows the source connected to the S-video port. Component Shows the source connected to the component video port. DV I Shows the source connected to the DVI port. Source scan Sets whether the projector automatically searches for input signals and displays the next one found. Widescreen input Sets whether a widescreen (16:9) input device is in use. Adjusts the height of the image accordingly. Help Menu Displays information and status of the projector.

EN-26 Turn off the projector and remove the AC power cord from the power outlet before beginning maintenance work. Make sure the lens is cool before cleaning. Do not use detergents or chemicals other than those noted above. Do not use benzene or thinners. Do not use chemical sprays. Use a soft cloth or lens paper only. Maintenance The projector needs proper maintenance. You should keep the lens clean as dust, dirt or spots will project on the screen and diminish image quality. If any other parts need replacing, contact your dealer or qualified service personnel. When cleaning any part of the projector, always switch off and unplug the projector first. Warning: Never open any of the covers on the projector. Dangerous electrical voltages inside the projector can cause severe injury. Do not attempt to service this product yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Cleaning the Lens Gently wipe the lens with lens cleaning paper. Do not touch the lens with your hands. Cleaning the Projector Housing Gently wipe with a soft cloth. If dirt and stains are not easily removed, use a soft cloth damped with water, or water and neutral detergent, and wipe dry with a soft, dry cloth.

EN-27 Replacing the Lamp As the projector operates over time, the brightness of the projector lamp gradually decreases and the lamp becomes more susceptible to breakage. We recommend replacing the lamp if a warning message is displayed. „The lamp becomes high temperature after turning off the projector with the power button. If you touch the lamp, you may scald your finger. When you replace the lamp, wait for at least 45 minutes for the lamp to cool down. „Do not touch the lamp glass at any time. The lamp may explode due to improper handling, including the touching of the lamp glass. „Lamp lifetime may differ from lamp to lamp and according to the environment of use. There is no guarantee of the same lifetime for each lamp. Some lamps may fail or terminate their lifetime in a shorter period of time than other similar lamps. „A lamp may explode as a result of vibration, shock or degradation as a result of hours of use as its lifetime draws to an end. Risk of explosion may differ according to the environment or conditions in which the projector and lamp are being used. „Faster on-off-cycles will damage the lamp and reduce lamp life. Wait at least for 5 minutes to turn off the projector after powering on. „Do not operate the lamp in proximity to paper, cloth, or other combustible material nor cover it with such materials. Otherwise it could cause a fire. „Do not operate the lamp in an atmosphere containing an inflammable substance, such as thinner. Otherwise it could cause a fire or explosion. „Thoroughly ventilate the area or the room when operating the lamp in an oxygen atmosphere (in the air). If ozone is inhaled, it could cause headaches, nausea, dizziness, etc. „The inorganic mercury is involved in the lamp. If the lamp bursts, the mercury inside the lamp will go out of the projector. Leave the area immediately if the lamp shatters while being operated and ventilate the area for at least 30 minutes in order to avoid the inhalation of mercury fumes. Otherwise it could be harmful to user’s health. ORDER REPLACEMENT LAMP Replacement lamp can be ordered through your dealer. When ordering a projection lamp, give the following information to the dealer. Model No. of your projector :EIP-X350 Replacement Lamp No. : P8984-1021

EN-28 „Dispose of the used lamp according to local regulations. „Ensure that screws are tightened properly. Screws not tightened fully may result in injury or accidents. „Since the lamp is made of glass, do not drop the unit and do not scratch the glass. „Do not reuse the old lamp. This could cause the lamp to explode. „Be sure to turn off the projector and unplug the AC power cord before replacing the lamp. „Do not use the projector with the lamp cover removed. 1. Turn off the projector. 2. Allow the projector to cool for at least 45 minutes. 3. Unplug the power cord. 4. Loosen the screws in the lamp cover 1 and remove the cover 2 . 5. Remove the screws from the lamp module 3 , raise the handle 4 , and lift out the module 5 . 6. Insert the new lamp module into the projector and tighten the screws. 7. Replace the lamp cover and tighten the screws. 8. Turn on the projector. If the lamp does not turn on after the warm-up period, try reinstalling the lamp. 9. Reset the lamp timer. Press MENU, go to Setup > Advanced setup > Reset lamp hours, and press MENU.
