Go to http://support.dell.com , enter your service tag, and download the latest driver for your graphics card. 2. After installing the drivers for your Graphics Adapter, attempt to set the resolution to 1920x1080 again. Identify your graphics controller supplier from the description at the top of the window (e.g. NVIDIA, ATI, Intel etc.). 5. Please refer to the graphics card provider website for updated driver (for example, http://www.ATI.com OR http://www.NVIDIA.com ). 6. After installing the drivers for your Graphics Adapter, attempt to set the resolution to 1920x1080 again. Back to Contents Page Operating the Monitor Using the Front Panel Controls Using the On - Screen Display (OSD) Menu Setting the Optimal Resolution Using the Dell Soundbar (Optional) Using the Tilt Using the Front Panel Use the control buttons on the side of the monitor to adjust the characteristics of the image being displayed. As you use these buttons to adjust the controls, an OSD shows the numeric values of the characteristics as they change. Front panel Button Description 1 OSD Menu/Exit The Menu button is used to open and exit the on - screen display (OSD), and exit from menus and sub - menus. See Using the OSD Menu . 2 Brightness /Contrast Hot Key Use this button for direct access to the Brightness and Contrast control menu. 2 and 3 / Down and Up Use these buttons to navigate and adjust the slider bar (decrease/increase ranges) controls in the OSD menu. 3 Auto Adjust Use this button to activate automatic setup and adjustment. The following dialog appears on a black screen as the monitor self - adjusts to the current input: Auto Adjustment button allows the monitor to self - adjust to the incoming video signal. After using Auto Adjustment, you can further tune your monitor by using the Pixel Clock (Coarse), Phase (Fine) controls in the OSD. NOTE: Auto Adjust does not occur if you push the button while there are no active video input signals or attached cables. 4 / Input Source Select/Select Use the Input Source Select button to select between different video signals that may be connected to your monitor. l VGA input l DVI - D input As you cycle through the inputs you will see the following messages to indicate the currently selected input source. It may take a few seconds for the image to appear.
Using the On - Screen display (OSD) Menu 1. Push to launch the OSD menu and display the main menu. Main Menu for Analog (VGA) Input Or Main Menu for non Analog (non VGA) Input If either VGA or DVI - D input is selected and both VGA and DVI - D cables are not connected, a floating dialog box as shown below appears. or or 5 Power button Use the power button to turn the monitor on and off. The white light indicates that the monitor is on and fully functional. An amber light indicates power save mode. NOTE: If you change the settings and then either proceed to another menu, or exit the OSD menu, the monitor automatically saves the changes. The changes are also saved if you change the settings and then wait for the OSD menu to disappear.
2. Push the and buttons to move between the setting options. As you move from one icon to another, the option name is highlighted. See the table for a complete list of all the options available for the monitor. 3. Push the button once to activate the highlighted option. 4. Push and button to select the desired parameter. 5. Push to enter the slide bar and then use the and buttons, according to the indicators on the menu, to make your changes. 6. Push to return to the main menu or exit the OSD menu. NOTE: Auto Adjust is only available when you are using the analog (VGA) connector. Icon Menu and Submenus Description Brightness/Contrast Brightness Contrast Back Allows you to adjust the brightness and contrast. Brightness adjusts the luminance of the backlight. Push the button to increase the brightness and push the button to decrease the brightness (min 0 ~ max 100). Adjust the Brightness first, and then adjust the Contrast only if further adjustment is necessary. Push the button to increase contrast and Push the button to decrease contrast (min 0 ~ max 100). The Contrast function adjusts the degree of difference between the darkest and lightest areas on the monitor screen. Push to go back to or exit the main menu.
Auto Adjust Even though your computer recognizes your monitor on startup, the Auto Adjustment function optimizes the display settings for use with your particular setup. NOTE: In most cases, Auto Adjust produces the best image for your configuration. This option is only available when you are using the analog (VGAyf connector. Input Source Auto Detect VGA DVI - Back The Input Source menu is to used to select between different video signals that may be connected to your monitor. Scan for Sources. Push to scan for available input signals. Select VGA input when you are using the analog (VGA) connector. Push to select the VGA input source. Select DVI - D input when you are using the Digital (DVI) connector. Push to select the DVI input source. Push to go back to or exit the main menu. Color Settings Use the color settings to adjust the Image mode and color format. Image mode submenu for VGA/DVI - D input
Input Color Format Mode Selection Preset modes VGA/DVI - D input Standard Multimedia Game Warm Cool Custom (RGB) Video input Movie Game Sports or NOTE: Image modes are different between the VGA/DVI - D and Video inputs Allows you to set the color format to: PC RGB - Suitable for normal PC graphics display over DVI HD YPbPr - Suitable for HD video playback over DVI. Allows you to set the display mode to Graphics or Video. If your computer is connected to your monitor, choose Graphics. If a DVD, STB, or VCR is connected to your monitor, choose Video. Mode suitable for desktop applications. Mode for multimedia applications, eg video playback. Mode suitable for gaming applications. Select warm mode to obtain a red tint. This color setting is typically used for color - intensive applications (photograph image editing, multimedia, movies, etc.). Select cool mode to obtain a bluish tint. This color setting is typically used for text based applications (spreadsheets, programming, text editors, etc.). Use the or button to increase or decrease each of the three colors (R, G, B) independently, in single - digit increments, from 0 to 100. Mode suitable for movie playback. Mode suitable for game applications. Mode suitable for sports scenes.
Nature Hue Saturation Reset Color Settings Back Mode suitable for nature scenes. This feature can make the video image color shift from green to purple. Use this feature to adjust the skin tone. Use or increases the green hue in the image increases the purple hue in the image NOTE : Hue adjustment is only available for video input. Allows you to adjust the color saturation of the video image. Use or button to adjust the saturation from 0 to 100 makes video image looks monochrome makes video image looks colorful NOTE: Saturation adjustment is only available for video input. Returns your monitor color settings to those that were set at the time of manufacture. Push to go back to or exit the main menu. Display Settings Horizontal Position Vertical Position Sharpness Pixel Clock Phase Reset Display Settings Back Use the and buttons to adjust image left and right. Minimum is 0 ( - ). Maximum is 100 (+). Use the and buttons to adjust image up and down. Minimum is 0 ( - ). Maximum is 100 (+). This feature can make the image look sharper or softer. Use or to adjust the sharpness from 0 to 100 . T he Phase and Pixel Clock adjustments allow you to adjust your monitor to your preference. These settings are accessed through the main OSD menu, by selecting Image Settings. Use th e and buttons to adjust for best image qua lity. If satisfactory results are not obtained using the Phase adjustment, use the Pixel Clock (coarseyfDGMXVWPHQWDQGWKHQXVH3KDVHILQH\f, again. NOTE: Pixel Clock and Phase Adjustments are only available for VGA input. Resets the display settings to the original factory settings. Push to go back to or exit the main menu.
Other Settings Language Menu Transparency Menu Timer Menu Lock DDC/CI LCD Conditioning Language option to set the OSD display to one of five languages (English, Espanol, Francais, Deutsch, Japanese). Allows you to adjust the OSD background from opaque to transparent. OSD Hold Time: Sets the length of time the OSD will remain active after the last time you pushed a button. Use the and buttons to adjust the slider in 5 second increments, from 5 to 60 seconds. Controls user access to adjustments. When selected, no user adjustments are allowed. All buttons are locked except the menu button. NOTE: When the OSD is locked, pushing the menu button for 15 seconds will unlock and allow user access to all applicable settings. pushing the menu button for 15 seconds will activate the Menu Lock function. DDC/CI (Display Data Channel/Command Interface) allows your monitor parameters (brightness, color balance etc) to be adjustable via software on your PC. You can disable this feature by selecting Disable. Enable this feature for best user experience and optimum performance of your monitor. If an image appears to be stuck on the monitor, select LCD Conditioning to help eliminate any image retention. Using the LCD Conditioning feature may take several hours. Severe cases of image retention are known as burn - in, the LCD Conditioning feature does not remove burn - in.
OSD Warning Messages Factory Reset Back Reset all OSD settings to the factory preset values. Push to go back to or exit the main menu. When the monitor does not support a particular resolution mode you will see the following message : or This means that the monitor cannot synchronize with the signal that it is receiving from the computer. See Monitor Specifications for the Horizontal and Vertical frequency ranges addressable by this monitor. The recommended mode is 1920 X 1080. When monitor enters Power Save mode, the following message appears : or Activate the computer and wake up the monitor to gain access to the OSD If you push any button other than the power button one of the following messages will appear depending on the selected input: VGA/DVI - D input
