Returns your monitor color settings to the factory default settings. Press the button to go back to or exit the main menu. Display Settings Horizontal PositionVertical Position Sharpness Pixel Clock Phase Dynamic Contrast Reset Display Setting Back Use the and buttons to adjust image left and right. Minimum is 0 (-). Maximum is 100 (+). Use the and buttons to adjust image up and down. Minimum is 0 (-). Maximum is 100 (+). This feature can make the image look sharper or softer. Use or to adjust the sharpness from 0 to 100 . The Phase and Pixel Clock adjustments allow you to adjust your monitor to your preference. These settings are accessed through the main OSD menu, by selecting Display Settings. Use the and buttons to adjust for best image qua lity. If satisfactory results are not obtained using the Phase adjustment, use the Pixel Clock (coarse) adjustment and then use Phase (fine), again. Allows you to increase the level of contrast to provide sharper and more detailed image quality. Resets the display settings to the factory default settings. Press the button to go back to or exit the main menu. Other Settings Language Menu Transparency Menu Timer Language option to set the OSD display to one of 6 languages (English, Espanol, Francais, Deutsch, Simplified Chinese, Japanese). Allows you to adjust the OSD background from opaque to transparent. OSD Hold Time: Sets the amount of time the OSD will remain active after the last time you pressed a button. Use the and buttons to adjust the slider in 5 second increments, from 5 to 60 seconds.

When selected, no user adjustments are allowed. All buttons are locked except the button. NOTE: Lock function – Either soft lock (through OSD menu) or hard lock (Press and hold the button above power button for 10 sec) Unlock function– Only hard unlock (Press and hold the button above power button for 10 sec) DDC/CI (Display Data Channel/Command Interface) allows your monitor parameters (brightness, color balance, etc.) to be adjustable using software on your computer. You can disable this feature by selecting Disable. Enable this feature for best user experience and optimum performance of your monitor. If an image appears to be retained on the monitor, select LCD Conditioning to help eliminate any image retention. Using the LCD Conditioning feature may take several hours. Severe cases of image retention are known as burn-in, the LCD Conditioning feature does not remove burn-in. Reset all OSD settings to the factory default settings. Press the button to go back to or exit the main menu. Personalize There are 2 shortcut keys on the front panel. Select one control menu for each shortcut key to allow direct access. OSD Warning Messages When the monitor does not support a particular resolution mode you will see the following message : or This means that the monitor cannot synchronize with the signal that it is receiving from the computer. See Monitor Specifications for the Horizontal and Vertical frequency ranges addressable by this monitor. The recommended mode is 1600x900. When monitor enters Power Save mode, the following message appears :

Setting the Maximum ResolutionTo set the maximum resolution for the monitor. Windows XP: 1. Right-click on the desktop and select Properties. 2 . Select the Settings tab. 3 . Set the screen resolution to 1600 x 900. 4 . Click OK. Windows Vista ® or Windows® 7: 1 . Right-click on the desktop and select Personalization. 2 . Click Change Display Settings . 3 . Move the slider-bar to the right by pressing and holding left -mouse button and adjust the screen resolution to 1600 x 900. 4 . Click OK. If you do not see 1600 x 900 as an option, you may need to update your graphics driver. Depending on your computer, complete one of the following procedures. If you have a Dell desktop or portable computer: Go to support.dell.com , enter your service tag, and download the latest driver for your graphics card. If you are using a non-Dell computer (portable or desktop): Go to the support site for your computer and download the latest graphic drivers.Go to your graphics card website and download the latest graphic drivers. Using the Dell Soundbar (Optional)The Dell Soundbar is a stereo two channel system mountable on Dell flat panel displays. Self-Test Your monitor provides a self-test feature that allows you to check whether your monitor is functioning properly. If your monitor and computer are properly connected but the monitor screen remains dark, run the monitor self-test by performing the following steps: 1. Turn off both your computer and the monitor. 2 . Unplug the video cable from the back of the computer. To ensure proper Self-Test operation, remove the Analog (blue connector) cable from the back of computer. 3 . Turn on the monitor. The floating dialog box should appear on-screen (against a black background) if the monitor cannot sense a video signal and is working correctly. While in self-test mode, the power LED remains white. Also, the dialog shown below will continuously scroll through the screen. or 4 . This box also appears during normal system operation, if the video cable becomes disconnected or damaged. 5 . Turn off your monitor and reconnect the video cable; then turn on both your computer and the monitor. If your monitor screen remains blank after you have performed Step 5, check your video controller and computer system. Built-in Diagnostics Your monitor has a built -in diagnostic tool that helps you determine if the screen abnormality you are experiencing is an inherent problem with your monitor, or with your computer and video card. NOTE: You can run the built -in diagnostics only when the video cable is unplugged and the monitor is in self-test mode. To run the built -in diagnostics: 1. Ensure that the screen is clean (no dust particles on the surface of the screen). 2 . Unplug the video cable(s) from the back of the computer or monitor. The monitor then goes into the self-test mode. 3 . On the front panel, press and hold the shortcut button 1 and shortcut button 4 keys on the front panel, simultaneously for 2 seconds. A gray screen appears. 4. Carefully inspect the screen for abnormalities. 5 . Press the shortcut button 4 key on the front panel again. The color of the screen changes to red. 6 . Inspect the display for any abnormalities. 7 . Repeat steps 5 and 6 to inspect the display in green, blue, and white colored screens. The test is complete when the white screen appears. To exit, press the shortcut button 4 again. If you do not detect any screen abnormalities upon using the built -in diagnostic tool, the monitor is functioning properly. Distorted Sound Computers sound card is used as the audio source. Clear any obstructions between the Soundbar and the user.Confirm that the audio line -in plug is completely inserted into the jack of the sound card.Set all Windows volume controls to their midpoints.Decrease the volume of the audio application.Turn the volume down.Clean and reseat the audio line -in plug.Troubleshoot the computers sound card.Test the Soundbar using another audio source (i.e., portable CD player). Distorted Sound Other audio source is used.
