Fortypeandgradeofoiltouse,see ENGINEinMaintenancesectionofthis manual. 1.Besurelawnmowarislevelandarea aroundoilfillisclean. 2.Removeengineoilcapandfilltothe fulllineonthedipstick.Pouroil slowly.Donotoverfill. NOTE:Allowoiltosettledowninto engineforaccuratereading.Toread properlevel,tightenengineoilcap,then removeittoroadthedipstick. 3.Reinstallengineoilcapandtighten. •Checkoillevelbeforeeachuse.Add oilifneeded.Filltofulllineondipstick. •Changetheoilafterever./25hoursof operationoreachseason.Youmay needtochangetheoilmoreoften underdusty,dirtyconditions. ADDGASOLINE •Fillfueltank.Usefresh,clean,regular unleadedgasolinewithaminimumof 87octane.Donotmixoilwithgaso- line.Purchasefuelinquantitiesthat canbeusedwithin30daystoassure fuelfreshness. MOWINGTIPS •Undercertainconditions,suchasvery tallgrass,itmaybenecessarytoraise theheightofcuttoreducepushing effortandtokeepfromoverloadingthe engineandleavingclumpsofgrass clippings.Itmayalsobenecessaryto reducegroundspeedand/orrunthe lawnmowerovertheareaasecond time. •Forextremelyheavycutting,reducethe widthofcutbyoverlappingpreviously cutpathandmowslowly. •Forbettergrassbaggingandmost cuttingconditions,theenginespeed shouldbesetinthefastposition. •Forsidedischargelawnmowers, cuttinginacounter-clockwisedirection, startingattheoutsideoftheareatobe cut,spreadsgrassclippingsmore evenlyandputslessloadonthe engine.Tokeepclippingsoffof walkways,flowerbeds,etc.,makethe firstcutsinaclockwisedirection. •Poresinclothgrasscatcherscan becomefilledwithdirtanddustwith useandcatcherswillcollectlessgross. Alwaysmulchwithyourhighestengine (blade)speedasthiswillprovidethe bestrecuttingactionoftheblades. •Avoidcuttingyourlawnwhenitiswet.
