    Abladeinthecuttingheadshieldwillcutthelinetotheproper 
    lengthifanyexcesslineisreleased. 
    CAUTION:Donotremoveoralterthelinecuttingblade 
    assembly.Excessivelinelengthwillmaketheunit

    2.Cutone20foot(6m)lengthofnewtrimmingline. 
    3.Turnthebumpknobclockwisetoalignthearrows(Fig.14). 
    4.Insertthenewtrimminglineintotheentryeyelet(Fig.14).Push 
    thelinethroughthecuttingheaduntilafewinchesprotrudefrom 
    theexiteyelet.Pulltheprotrudinglineuntilapproximately10feet 
    oflineextendsfromeachsideofthecuttinghead.Makesure 
    thelinelengthsoneachsideareequal. 
    5.Turnthebumpknobclockwisetowindthelineuntilabout5inches 
    (12.7cm)protrudefromeachsideofthecuttinghead(Fig.15).DO

    5.Lookintotheoilfillhole;useaflashlightifnecessary.Theoil 
    levelshouldjusttouchthebottomthreadoftheoilfillhole 
    (Fig.19).Iftheoillevelistoolow,addoiltotheoilfillholeuntil 
    theoilleveltouchesthebottomthreadoftheoilfillhole. 
    NOTE:DONOToverfillthecrankcase. 
    6.Wipeupanyoilthatmayhavespilled. 
    7.Reinstalltheoilfillplug.

    Changetheoilwhiletheengineisstillwarm.Theoilwillflowfreely 
    andcarryawaymoreimpurities. 
    1.Cleantheareaaroundtheoilfillplug(Fig.18)topreventdebris 
    fromenteringtheoilfillhole. 
    2.Unscrewtheoilfillplug. 
    3.Tiptheunitverticallytopourtheoiloutoftheoilfillholeandinto 
    acontainer(Fig.20).Allowampletimeforcompletedrainage. 
    NOTE:Disposeoftheoldoilaccordingtofederal,stateandlocal 
    regulations. 
    4.Wipeupanyoilthatmayhavespilled. 
    5.Pour3.04fl.oz.(90ml)ofSAE30oilintotheoilfillhole. 
    NOTE:DONOToverfill.RefertoCheckingtheOilLevel.

    4.LightlycoattheairfilterwithcleanSAE30oil. 
    5.Squeezetheairfiltertospreadandremoveexcessoil. 
    6.Reinstalltheairfilter(Fig.22). 
    NOTE:Operatingtheunitwithouttheairfilterandairfiltercoverwill 
    VOiDthewarranty. 
    7.Closetheairfiltercover:insertthetabsonthebackplateintothe 
    slotsontheairfiltercover.Swingtheairfiltercoverdownand

    idlespeedscrewclockwise,1/8ofaturnatatime(asneeded) 
    untiltheengineidlessmoothly(Fig.23). 
    Iftheengineidlestooquickly,turntheidlespeedscrew 
    counterclockwise,1/8ofaturnatatime(asneeded)toreduce 
    theidlespeed(Fig.23). 
    NOTE:Thecuttingheadshouldnotspinwhentheengineidles.Ifit 
    does,reducetheidlespeeduntilthecuttingheadstopsmoving. 
    Checkingthefuel,cleaningtheairfilter,andadjustingtheidlespeed 
    shouldsolvemostengineproblems.Ifnot,andanyofthefollowing 
    conditionsaretrue,taketheunittoaSearsorotherqualifiedservice 
    dealer:

    7.Installthesparkpluginthecylinderhead.Tightenthesparkplug 
    witha5/8-inchsocket,turningitclockwiseuntilsnug.

    4.Thoroughlycleantheunitandinspectitforanylooseor 
    damagedparts.Repairorreplacedamagedpartsandtighten 
    loosescrews,nutsorbolts.
