Thecuttingheadshieldmustalwaysbeinplacewhileoperating theunit.Donotoperatetheunitwithoutbothtrimminglines extendedandtheproperlineinstalled.Donotextendthe trimminglinebeyondthelengthoftheshield. Thisunithasaclutch.Thecuttingheadremainsstationarywhen theengineisidling.Ifitdoesnot,taketheunittoaSearsor otherqualifiedservicedealerforanadjustment. Usinga#2Phillipsscrewdriver,tightenthescrewsuntilthe cuttingheadshieldisfirmlyinplace.Tightenthescrewsequally. Thegapbetweenthemountbracketandthecuttingheadshield shouldbethesameoneachside. 2, 3. NOTE:Fordecorativetrimmingwithastringtrimmerattachment, lockthereleasebuttonintothe90°hole(Fig.4). CAUTION:Beforeoperatingtheunit,makesurethe releasebuttonisfullysnappedintotheprimaryholeandthe knobissecurelytightened. CAUTION:Unlessspecifiedotherwise,therelease buttonshouldbesnappedintotheprimaryholeonly.Using thewrongholecouldleadtopersonalinjuryordamageto theunit. DefinitionofBlendedFuels Todaysfuelsareoftenablendofgasolineandoxygenatessuchas ethanol,methanolorMTBE(ether).Alcohol-blendedfuelabsorbs water.Aslittleas1%waterinthefuelcanmakefuelandoil separate,formingacidswhenstored.ALWAYSusefreshfuel(less than30daysold). NOTE:Disposeofoldfuelaccordingtofederal,stateandlocal regulations.
