    LOADitandcleanitatleastonceamonth.Ifyougetyourrevolver
    wet,cleanitassoonaspossible.
    HOWTOCLEAN
    Acollectorsrevolvershouldonlybewipedgentlyontheoutsidesur-
    faceswithaverysoftdust-freecloth.
    Othersshouldbecleanedasfollows:
    Thefollowingcleaningproceduremaybeusedbothperiodicallyand
    afterfiring;however,thoseitemsmarked

    diccleaning.
    Materials:Cleaningrod,cottonflannelpatches(cuttofitsnuglyinto
    thebore),asmalltooth-brush,goodqualitylightgunoil,*gunclean-
    ingsolution,andabrasswirebristleborecleaningbush.
    NOTE:Infreezingconditions(below32°Fora°C)avoidtheuseofoil
    forlubrication;instead,applyadrylubricantsparingly.

    volverasseverecasesresultinburringofthemetalaroundfiringpin
    holewhichcouldcontributetoeventualfiringfailures.

    3.Attachcottonflannelpatchtoendofcleaningrod,insert~inmuzzle
    andpassrodandpatchdownthroughbarrel.Repeat,changingpatches
    untillastpatchcomesoutclean.
    4.Cleaneachofthesixchambersincylinderwithsimilarmethodto
    step3above.
    5.Visuallyinspectbarrelandchambers;iftheyareclean,proceeddi-
    rectlytostep8,butif~remainsdirty,continuew~step6.
    6.*(NOTE:This~emshouldbeapplicableonlyafterfiring.)Attach
    brasswirebristlebrushtocleaningrodanddipbrushinguncleaning
    solution.Thoroughlyscruboutbarrelandcylinderchambers,passing
    thebrushallthewaythroughbeforereversingthemovementIfyoutry
    tochangedirectionwithbrushinbarrel,thebrushwillstick.
    7.Repeatsteps3,4and5above.
    8.Cleanrearfaceofbarrelandrevolverframe,usingasmalltooth-
    brush.
    9.Lightlymoistenaflannelpatchwithgunoilandpass~oncethrough
    thebarrel,soleavingathinfilmofoilontheinsidesurface.Leavethis
    filmofoilonthemetalsurfaceifrevolveristobestored.If~isnottobe
    stored,orif~isbeingremovedfromstorageforuse,passadrypatch
    throughbarrelandchamberstoremoveasmuchoilaspossible.(See
    noteoncoldweatherlubrication.)
    1O.Checkthatflannelorbrushbristleshavenotbecomelodgedinany
    partofrevolver,thenwipeallextemalsurfaceswithaflannelpatch
    moistenedwithgunoil.(Seenoteoncoldweatherlubrication.)
