SECTION4FUNCTION YourColtSingleActionrevolverwillbereadytofirewhenchambersin thecylinderareloadedwithammunition(seeloadinginstructions),and hammerhasbeendrawnallthewaybackpastSafetyandHalf-Cock positionstotheCockedposition.TheActionofcockinglowerscylinder lockingbolt,rotatescylindertocarryaroundofammunitionintoalign- mentwithbarrelandhammer,raisescylinderlockingbolttolockcy- linderandholdshammerunderspringtension.Whentriggeris squeezed,hammerfallsforwardcausingfiringpintopassthroughthe firingpinholeandstrikeprimerofbaseofcartridge.Theenergyim- partedtotheprimerignitesit,inturnignitingthemainchargewhich,in burning,rapidlygeneratesextremelyhighgaspressuretodrivethe bulletdownthebarrel.Riflinggroovesinthebarrelimpartstabilizingspin tothebulletsothatitwillfollowamoreaccuratepathtothetarget.
