    YourColtSingleActionrevolverwillbereadytofirewhenchambersin
    thecylinderareloadedwithammunition(seeloadinginstructions),and
    hammerhasbeendrawnallthewaybackpastSafetyandHalf-Cock
    positionstotheCockedposition.TheActionofcockinglowerscylinder
    lockingbolt,rotatescylindertocarryaroundofammunitionintoalign-
    mentwithbarrelandhammer,raisescylinderlockingbolttolockcy-
    linderandholdshammerunderspringtension.Whentriggeris
    squeezed,hammerfallsforwardcausingfiringpintopassthroughthe
    firingpinholeandstrikeprimerofbaseofcartridge.Theenergyim-
    partedtotheprimerignitesit,inturnignitingthemainchargewhich,in
    burning,rapidlygeneratesextremelyhighgaspressuretodrivethe
    bulletdownthebarrel.Riflinggroovesinthebarrelimpartstabilizingspin
    tothebulletsothatitwillfollowamoreaccuratepathtothetarget.

    ofhammer.Checkforcorrectlockingbyattemptingtorotatecylinder
    gentlycounterclockwisebyhand.Ifitisalreadylocked,thecylinderwill
    notmove.Ifitwasunlocked,youshouldheartheboltclickinto
    engagementwiththecylindertolockit.
    8.Lookattherearofthecylindertomakesuretheemptychamberisin
    frontofthehammer;ifitis,closetheloadinggatesothatitisagainflush
    withtherevolverframe.Iftheemptychamberisnotinfrontofthehammer,
    drawhammerbackintoHalf-Cocknotch,realignthecylinderandrepeat
    items6through8untilemptychamberislockedinfrontofhammer.

    chamberyouloaded.

    BeforefiringyourColtSingleActionrevolver,practiceyourstance,aim,
    rhythmandbreathingforsteadyaimwithyourrevolverUNLOADED.
    Practicefiringonarangebeforegoinghuntingorusingyourrevolverfor
    anyothertypeofshooting.Ifyouhaveadualcylinderrevolverlearnto
    allowforthecustomaryvariationinpointofbulletimpactwithdifferent
    calibercylindersinstalled.Differentammunitionmayalsoaffect
    perlormance.
