    YoucanusetheHUUISOtoupgradecomponentsoftheserverfromthehostlocallywithawritabledisk
    (DVDorCD),orremotelybymountingtheHUUISOasavirtualdevice.Thisfollowingprocedureexplains
    howtoupgradethefirmwareusingtheHUU:
    Step 1DownloadtheHUUISOfile:
    a)NavigatetothefollowingURL:http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/navigator.html.
    b)Inthemiddlecolumn,clickServers–UnifiedComputing.
    c)Intheright-handcolumn,clickCiscoUCSC-SeriesRack-MountStandaloneServerSoftware.
    d)Choosethenameofyourmodelofserverintherightcolumn.
    e)ClickUnifiedComputingSystem(UCS)ServerFirmware.
    f)Choosethereleasenumber.
    g)ClickDownloadNowtodownloadtheucs-serverplatform-huu-version_number.isofile.
    h)Verifytheinformationonthenextpage,andclickProceedWithDownload.
    i)Continuethroughthesubsequentscreenstoacceptthelicenseagreementandbrowsetoalocationwhereyouwant
    tosavethefile.
    Step 2IfyouwanttopreparetheISOforalocalupgrade,completethisstep;Otherwise,gotoStep3.
    a)BurntheISOimageontoawritabledisk(CD).
    b)ConnectaVGAmonitorandUSBkeyboardtotheCiscoC-Seriesserver.
    c)InsertthediskintotheUSBDVDdriveoftheCiscoC-Seriesserver.

    Step 3PreparetheISOforaremoteupgradeusingtheKVMConsole.
    a)UseabrowsertoconnecttotheCiscoIMCGUIsoftwareontheserverthatyouareupgrading.
    b)intheaddressfieldofthebrowser,entertheCiscoIMCIPaddressforthatserver,andthenenteryourusernameand
    password.
    c)ClickLaunchKVMConsoleonthetoolbartolaunchtheKVMConsole.
    d)IntheKVMConsole,clicktheVirtualMedia.
    e)ClickAddImageandclicktheucs-server-name-huu-version_number.isofile.
    f)IntheClientViewarea,intheMappedcolumn,checkthecheckboxfortheISOfilethatyouaddedandthenwait
    formappingtocomplete.
    g)AftertheISOfileappearsasamappedremotedevice,gotoStep4.
    Step 4BoottheserverandpressF6whenpromptedtoopentheBootMenuscreen.
    Step 5IntheBootMenuscreen,choosethepreparedISO:
    •Foralocalupgrade,choosethephysicalorexternallyconnectedCD/DVDdeviceandthenpressEnter.
    •Foraremoteupgrade,chooseCiscovKVM-MappedvDVD1.22,andpressEnter.
    Theserverbootsfromtheselecteddevice.
    Step 6AftertheHUUboots,CiscoEndUserLicenseAgreement(EULA)appears,readtheEULAandclick:
    •IAgreetoagreewiththelicenseagreementandproceedwiththeupdate.
    •IDisagreetocancel.
    AfteryouaccepttheEULA,whentheCiscoHostUpgradeUtilitywindowappearswithalistofallthecomponents
    thatareavailableforupdate.
    Step 7Ifyouwanttoupdateallthelistedcomponents,clickUpdateall.
    Note•Ifyouareupdatingto2.0(x)fromversions1.5(1l)andbefore,orfromversion1.5.3boththeactiveand
    thebackupversionsofCiscoIMCwillbeupdatedto2.0(x).
    •DuringupdatetheKVMconnectionwillbelost,youhavetoreconnecttoviewtheprogressoftheupdates.
    EnablingCiscoIMCSecureBootconfirmationdialogboxappears.
    Step 8ReadthecontentontheconfirmationboxcarefullyandclickYes,ifyouwanttogoaheadandupdatethefirmwareand
    enableCiscoSecureBoot.
    Note•Ifyouareupdatingfromaversionbelow2.0(x)to2.0(x),whenyouclickYESboththeactiveandthe
    backupversionsofCiscoIMCwillbeupdatedto2.0(x).
    •DuringupdatetheKVMconnectionwillbelost,youhavetoreconnecttoviewtheprogressoftheupdates.
    FormoreinformationonCiscoIMCsecureboot,refertotheIntroductiontoCiscoIMCSecureBootsection
    intheCiscoUCSC-SeriesServersIntegratedManagementControllerGUIConfigurationGuide,Release2.0(1).
    Step 9Ifyouwantupdatespecificcomponentsfromthelist,choosethecomponentsthatyouwanttoupdate.

    							Note•WerecommendyouupdatethefirmwareonallcomponentsusingtheUpdatealloption,unlessyouwant
    tospecificallyupdatethefirmwareofacomponent.
    •Whenyouupdatethefirmwareofoneofthefollowingthreecomponents:BIOS,CiscoIMC,orCMC,
    werecommendthatyoualsoupdatethefirmwareoftheothertwocomponents.
    •IfyouupdatetheCiscoIMCfirmware,clickExitandthenOktoactivatetheCiscoIMCfirmware.
    •IfyouchoosetoupdateCiscoIMCandanyothercomponentwithitandifyouhavenotchosenBIOS,
    thenonexit,youwillbepromptedtoupdatetheChassisFirmware,clickYesintheconfirmationboxto
    updatethechassisfirmware.
    ThisinitiatestheupdateandthestatusoftheupdateisdisplayedintheUpdateStatuscolumn.Youcanalsoviewa
    moredetailedlogofaseriesofactivitiesandstatusesthatareinvolvedwhileupdatingthefirmwareintheExecution
    Logssection.
    Step 11Ifyouwanttoupdatethefirmwareoftheharddiskofaserver,clickUpdateHDDFirmware.Awindowdisplaysalist
    ofharddiskdrivesontheserverthatsupportnewfirmware.Harddiskdrivesthatdonotsupportfirmwareupgradesare
    notlisted.
    Updatingthefirmwareoftheharddiskdrivecouldresultindataloss.Ciscorecommendsthatyoutakea
    completesystembackuppriortoupdatingthefirmware.
    Important
    a)Toupdatethefirmwareofalltheharddisks,clickUpdateAll.
    Withthisoption,HDDswiththelatestfirmwareinstalledarenotupdated.
    b)ToupdateaspecificHDD,choosetheHDDandclickUpdate.
    Step 12ClickExittoexitfromtheHUU.
    Note•IfyouhaveupdatedtheCiscoIMCandnottheBIOS,whenyouclickExit,CiscoIMCgetsactivatedand
    youloseconnectivitytotheCiscoIMCandKVM.
    •IfyouhaveselectedLOMforupdateandyouareonsharedLOMmode,whenyouclickExit,youlose
    connectivitytotheCiscoIMCandKVM.
    Step 13ClickYesattheconfirmationprompt.
    Step 14Reboottheservertoapplyfirmwarechanges.
    Step 15BoottheserverbackintoHUUISO,andclickLastUpdateVerifytoverifyiftheupdatewassuccessfullycompleted.
    ThisactioncomparesthepreviouslyupdatedfirmwareversionforeachcomponentthatwasupdatedusingtheHUU
    withthecurrentversionofthefirmwareonthecomponentsandprovidesthestatusoftheupdate.
    Step 16Ifyouwanttosavethelogfilesoftheupdatestatusforlateruse,clickSaveLogs.
    LogfilesthatcontainadetailedstatusoftheupdatearesavedtoanexternalUSBdevicethatisconnectedtotheserver
    physicallyorthroughtheKVMvMedia.
    Ifanerroroccurswhileupdatingthefirmware,youarepromptedtosavetheerrorlog.ClickSaveLogstosave
    thelogtoanexternallyconnectedUSB.Thislogcanbeusedforidentifyingthecauseoftheerrorand
    troubleshooting.
