The camera returns to the playback screen once printing is successfully completed. • The display window light changes color during printing in the following order: yellow Æ pink (magenta) Æ light blue (cyan) Æ white Æ blue. If or does not display in step 1, check the following: • Is the cable correctly connected? (p. 29) • Is the printer’s power on? (p. 29) • Is your camera’s firmware compatible with this printer? Check the Canon BeBit website or your regional Canon website. If printing does not start, check the following: • Does the camera’s LCD monitor display a message? (p. 42) The screen shot differs depending on the model of your camera.
„Printing on Wide Size (100 × 200 mm (4 × 8 in.)) Paper The printing area may vary depending on the camera use. The cards are printed as explained below. „Printing Images from a Mobile Phone You can transmit and easily print out the images shot by a camera equipped mobile phone. The mobile phone must have the following features. • JPEG image recording capacity • Infrared data communication (with an IrDA compliant infrared data communication port) Refer to your mobile phone's manual when using infrared data communication. • If appears in step 1 on page 31, select [Default] on the paper size setting screen. 1 Shoot an image using your mobile phone. • Set the image type to JPEG. 2 If any camera is connected to the printer, disconnect the camera. • You can leave your computer connected to the printer. If appears in step 1 on page 31 Printed on the 100 × 150 mm (4 × 6 in.) portion of the card.If appears in step 1 on page 31 Printed on the whole card. Nothing is printed on this portion so you can write your message with an oil-based pen.The upper and lower portions of an image are trimmed.
3 Load the paper cassette that matches the size of paper you want to print and the ink cassette. • The printer enlarges or reduces the size of the image according to the paper size and sets the print direction to vertical or horizontal automatically. The upper, lower, left or right portion(s) of the printed image may be cut depending on the combination of the image size and paper size. • When you print wide size paper (100 x 200 mm (4 × 8 in.)), the size of the printed image will be the same as the postcard size. You cannot do full-size borderless printing. 4 Transmit an image from your mobile phone to the printer. • Aim the mobile phone's infrared port at the printer's infrared data receiver and transmit the image data to the printer. See the illustration on the left for the transmittable distance. Note that the distance differs depending on the mobile phone model. Refer to your mobile phone's manual. • The printer's indicator blinks green while receiving the data. If any error occurs the indicator lights green (returns to the original state). Check the message appearing on the mobile phone display if an error occurs. • If the data transmission fails, move the mobile phone closer to the front of the printer's infrared data receiver and repeat the procedure. 5 Printing starts after the data transmission is complete. 20 cm or nearer (Do not block with any obstacles.) Effective range (about 10 degrees vertically and horizontally).
† When the Indicator Blinks The indicator of the printer blinks if any error occurs during printing. • E-mail and phone directories cannot be printed. • Images downloaded from internet homepages or images originally downloaded from a URL and attached to e-mail cannot be printed. This restriction is for protecting mobile phone security. • Some mobile phones have limited memory capacity for infrared data transmission and you may not be able to print the image in the best quality. • The images in the memory card (such as an SD card or memory stick) of some mobile phones cannot be printed. • Movie images cannot be printed. • If the printer cannot recover from an error, such as a paper jam, turn off the printer and remove any paper from inside the printer. Turn it on, and repeat the procedure. • Do not place any obstacle between the printer and the mobile phone. • Avoid direct sunlight on the infrared data receiver. Direct sunlight may interfere with the communication with the mobile phone. • Do not place the printer near a plasma display. Placing it near a plasma display may prevent the printer from communicating with the mobile phone. • Do not interrupt the infrared data communication until printing completes. If the communication is interrupted, turn off the printer. Then, turn it on, and repeat the procedure. • If you print L size, postcard size or wide size paper, the printed image may be coarser and grainier. In this case, printing on credit card size paper is recommended. • If you transmit a large image, the transmission may take more than one minute. • Do not do any printing operations from the camera or computer after the printer starts communicating with the mobile phone until printing is complete. • The printer cannot communicate with the mobile phone until all other printing operations are complete. IndicatorCauseSolution Blinks green and red in turn. No paper in the paper cassette. Load paper into the cassette, printing resumes. Blinks in the following order: green Æ red Æ red. The ink cassette is out of ink. Load a new ink cassette, printing resumes. Blinks in the following order: green Æ red Æ red Æ red. The paper and ink are from different sets. Check the ink/paper sets. If you set them properly, printing will resume. Blinks red. An unusual error such as a paper jam has occurred.Turn off the printer and turn it on again. Repeat the operations from the beginning.
Battery Usage Using the Battery Pack You can use the rechargeable battery pack (Battery Pack NB-CP2L) to print. The Battery Pack NB-CP1L (sold separately) cannot be used. „Charging the Battery Pack Attach the battery pack NB-CP2L to the printer to charge it. 1 Remove the battery pack’s terminal cover. • When the battery pack is not in use, always store it with its terminal cover on. 2 Press the battery cover lever down and remove the battery cover. 3 Install the battery pack. • Slide the battery pack into place, in the direction of the arrow, and push it in until it clicks into place. • To remove the battery pack, push the battery cover lever down and pull the battery pack out. 36 5 Connect the compact power adapter cable to the printer. • The indicator lights orange while charging and turns off once the battery pack is fully charged. 6 Disconnect the compact power adapter cable from the printer once charging is complete. • If the power button is pressed and the printer’s power turns on while charging the battery pack, charging will stop. Pressing the power button again will turn off the printer and charging will resume. • Do not use the battery pack in products other than those recommended by Canon. • Do not charge battery packs other than the battery pack NB-CP2L. • Do not carry or store the battery pack with metal objects with sharp edges, such as paper clips and pins. Always put the terminal cover on the battery pack’s terminal when carrying it or before storing it. • Avoid dropping or subjecting the battery pack to severe impact. • Do not apply heat or expose the battery pack to open flame. • Do not cover the compact power adapter with anything, such as a tablecloth, cushion or blanket, when it is charging. Heat will build up internally and possibly lead to fire. • Immediately flush water over parts of the body or clothing that come into contact with the inner contents of a battery if the outer casing incurs damage. If any of these substances should contact internal tissues, such as eyes or the mouth, immediately flush with water and seek medical assistance. Indicator Compact Power Adapter Cable
• When the battery pack is used to power the printer, the printer will automatically turn off if it is idle for 5 minutes or more. • This is a lithium ion battery pack so there is no need to completely use or discharge it before recharging. It can be charged at any charge state. • It takes approximately 150 minutes to bring a fully discharged battery pack to a full charge state (based on standard Canon testing criteria). • Charge it within a temperature range of 5 to 40 oC (41 to 104oF). • The charge adapter may emit noises while charging. This is not a malfunction. • Do not charge the battery pack for more than 24 continuous hours to avoid performance loss. • When the printer is not in use, remove the battery pack, replace its terminal cover and store it in a cool place (30 oC/86oF or less). Charge it before using it again. • Even charged battery packs continue to discharge naturally. You are advised to charge the battery on the day of use, or one day before, to ensure a full charge. • Since storing a fully charged battery pack for long periods of time (about 1 year) can shorten its lifecycle or affect performance, you are recommended to discharge the battery pack fully in the printer before storing it in a cool place (30 oC/86oF or less). If you do not use the battery pack for long periods of time, charge it fully and discharge it fully in the printer at least once a year before returning it to storage. • The printer consumes the battery charge when the power is on even when a function is not being used. To conserve the battery charge, be particularly attentive in turning the power off. • Remove the battery pack when the printer is not in use. The battery pack continues to discharge a small amount when left in the printer even with the power turned off. This shortens the battery life. • Although the battery pack’s maximum operating range is 5 to 40 oC (41 to 104oF), the optimal range is 10 to 30oC (50 to 86oF). At cold temperatures, such as those experienced on ski hills, performance will temporarily decline, reducing the usable time. • If the usable time of a battery pack diminishes substantially even when fully charged, it should be replaced.
„Battery Status If battery status is running down and the indicator of the printer blinks orange while the printer is connected to the camera, the camera’s LCD monitor may display the following message. „Battery Performance Test conditions: Normal temperature (23 °C/73 °F), Canon images, continuous print. * The above data may vary according to the printing environment and the image to be printed. * At low temperatures, the battery pack performance may diminish and the low battery icon may appear very rapidly. Error Message Solution Recharge the printer battery The battery pack’s power is too low to operate the printer. Switch the battery pack for a fully charged one or recharge the battery pack.
