(2)Connect the printer to your computer with a USB cable.
(3) Open the Paper Support, turn on the printer, and then turn on the computer.

„Changing the Document Print Settings
(1) Click  Infrared/Bluetooth connection Print Settings  tab.
(2)
Click Change on Document Print Settings.
The  Document Printing  dialog box appears.
(3) Select the printing type for the document.
(4) Click  Send.
You can perform printing from a PDA or  mobile phone with the specified media 
type and layout.

 Performing Infrared Communication  on page 21.

NoteFollowing limitations apply on transmittable data
• It does not support printing a downloaded content or photo and a photo 
attached to an email for security reason.
• It does not support printing video files.
• Depending on your device, the Fine print quality option may not be available  due to the restriction on the infrared transfer capacity.
• Depending on your device, it may not  print data stored in a memory card.

„Performing Infrared Communication
When performing infrared communication, al so refer to your computer, mobile phone 
or PDA manual.
1Set up the Printer.
(1) Ensure that the Universal AC Adapter is connected securely. 
When using the optional battery, ensure that it has been charged.
(2) Open the Paper Support and turn on the printer.
(3) Load the paper on the Paper Support.
2Start Infrared Communication.
(1)Align the Infrared Port of the computer to  that of the printer at a distance...

Note• By pressing the RESUME/CANCEL button, you can print the same 
image data transmitted from the mobile phone right before.
• Do not place any obstacle between the Infrared Ports of the printer  and PDA, mobile phone or computer. Data cannot be transmitted 
between them. Check the orientatio n and positions of the Infrared 
Ports of the printer, mobile phone and PDA or computer. Oppose 
these ports properly as mentioned above.

Printing Photographs Directly from a PictBridge 
Compliant Device
Connecting a PictBridge compliant device such as a digital camera, 
camcorder or mobile phone to the printer allows you to print recorded images 
directly without using a computer.Note • PictBridge is an Industry standard enabling a range of digital photo 
solutions, including the direct printing  of photos from a digital still camera,

„Connecting to a PictBridge Compliant Device
To connect a PictBridge compliant device to this printer, use the USB cable supplied 
with the device.
1Set up the printer
Ensure that the Universal AC Adapter is connected securely.
If you do use a battery pack, ensure that it is fully charged.
2Open the Paper Support and turn on the printer.
Caution Do not connect any equipment other th an PictBridge compliant devices or 
Canon Bubble Jet Direct Compatible Digital Camera to the Direct...

3Load 4×6 paper into the Auto Sheet Fe eder in the portrait position (short 
side facing down).
4Connect the PictBridge compliant device to the printer.
(1) Ensure that the device is turned off.
Note Some types of the device turn on automatically, when connected to the 
printer. For a device not turns on automatically, turn it on manually.

(3)Turn on and set up the device for direct printing.
