Additionally, you should set [IS Mode] to [Off] when using a tripod or other means to secure the camera (= 63). • When you use a tripod for evening scenes, shooting in [] mode instead of [] mode will give better results (= 26). • [] mode resolution is [] (2304 x 1728) and cannot be changed. • In [t] mode, although no frames are displayed when you press the shutter button halfway, optimal focus is still determined. Applying Special Effects Add a variety of effects to images when shooting. 1 Choose a shooting mode. zzFollow steps 1 – 2 in “Specific Scenes” (= 42) to choose a shooting mode. 2 Shoot. Still ImagesMovies Shoot in vivid colors (Super Vivid) zzShots in rich, vivid colors. Six still images are recorded for each shot. You can capture multiple still images with effects using camera-determined settings. 1 Enter [] mode. zzSet the mode switch to []. 2 Shoot. zzPress the shutter button all the way down. As you shoot, the shutter sound is played three times. zzAfter the six images are displayed in succession, they are displayed simultaneously for about two seconds. zzTo keep the images displayed until you press the shutter button halfway, press the button. For full-screen display in this state, choose an image by pressing the buttons, and then press the button. zzTo return to the original display, press the button. • Shooting will take some time when the flash fires, but hold the camera steady until the shutter sound is played three times. Image Display during PlaybackThe six images from each shot are managed together as a group, and only \ the first image in the series is displayed during playback. To indicate that the image is part of a group, [ ] is displayed in the upper left of the screen. • If you erase a grouped image ( = 74), all images in the group are also erased. Be careful when erasing images. • Grouped images can be played back individually ( = 69) and ungrouped (= 69). • Protecting (= 72) a grouped image will protect all images in the group. • Grouped images can be viewed individually when played back using Image Search (= 68) or Smart Shuffle (= 71). In this case, images are temporarily ungrouped. • The following actions are not available for grouped images: magnifying (= 70), rotating (= 76), tagging as favorites (= 77), editing (= 78 – 80), printing (= 127), adding to the print list (= 131), or adding to a photobook ( = 134). To do these things, either view grouped images individually ( = 69) or cancel grouping ( = 69) first. • Simultaneous display as shown in step 2 is only available immediately af\ ter you shoot.

You can also make movies that look like scenes in miniature models by choosing the playback speed before the movie is recorded. People and objects in the scene will move quickly during playback. Still Images Using the Face Self-TimerThe camera will shoot about two seconds after detecting that the face of\ another person (such as the photographer) has entered the shooting are\ a (= 58). This is useful when including yourself in group photos or similar shots. 1 Choose []. zzFollow steps 1 – 2 in “Specific Scenes” (= 42) and choose [], and then press the button. zzPress the buttons to choose [], and then press the button. 2 Compose the shot and press the shutter button halfway. zzMake sure a green frame is displayed around the face you focus on and white frames around other faces. 3 Press the shutter button all the way down. zzThe camera now enters shooting standby mode, and [Look straight at camera to start count down] is displayed. zzThe lamp blinks and the self-timer sound is played. 4 Join the subjects in the shooting area and look at the camera. zzAfter the camera detects a new face, the lamp blinking and self-timer sound will speed up. (When the flash fires, the lamp will remain lit.) About two seconds later, the camera will shoot. zzTo cancel shooting after you have triggered the self-timer, press the button. • Even if your face is not detected after you join the others in the shoot\ ing area, the camera will shoot about 15 seconds later. • To change the number of shots, press the < o> buttons after choosing [ ] in step 1. In this case, set the flash to [!] and shoot again ( = 62). Still Images High-Speed Continuous Shooting (High-Speed Burst) You can shoot a series of shots in rapid succession by holding the shutte\ r button all the way down.
