AF Operation

Shooting Conditions that Make Focusing Difficult
Low-contrast subjects such as the bl ue sky, solid-color flat surfaces 
or when highlight or shadow details are lost.
 Subjects in low light.
 Stripes and other patterns where there is contrast only in the 
horizontal direction.
 Subjects with repetitive patterns (Example: Skyscraper windows, 
computer keyboards, etc.).
 Fine lines and subject outlines.
 Under a light source whose brightness, color, or pattern keeps...

If focus is not achieved with the shooting conditions on the preceding 
page, set the lens focus mode switch to < MF> and focus manually.
 If you use AF with any of the following  lenses, focusing may take longer 
or correct focus may not be achieved. EF50mm f/1.4 USM, EF50mm f/1.8 II, EF50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro, 
EF75-300mm f/4-5.6 III, EF75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM

Just by tapping on the LCD monitor screen, you can focus and take the picture automatically. This works in all shooting modes.
1Display the Live View image.
Press the < A> button.
 The Live View image will appear on 
the LCD monitor.
2Enable the touch shutter.

single shooting mode.
 The touch shutter does not work with the magnified view.

1Set the lens focus mode switch to

General Live View Shooting Cautions
Image QualityWhen you shoot at high ISO speeds,  noise (such as dots of light and 
banding) may become noticeable.
 Shooting in high temperatures may cause noise and irregular colors in 
the image.
 If Live View shooting is used continuously for a prolonged period, the 
camera’s internal temperature may rise, and image quality may 
deteriorate. Always exit Live View shooting when you are not shooting.

the brightness of the captured image.
 Even if a low ISO speed is set, noise may be noticeable in the displayed
