Custom Functions are organized into four groups based on the function
    type: C.Fn I: Exposure, C.Fn II: Image, C.Fn III: Auto focus/Drive, C.Fn
    IV: Operation/Others.
    3 Custom Function SettingsN
    C.Fn I: Exposure
    C.Fn-1 Exposure level increments
    0: 1/3-stop
    1: 1/2-stop
Sets 1/2-stop increments for the shutter speed, aperture, exposure
compensation, AEB, etc. Effective when you prefer to control the
exposure in less fine increments than 1/3-stop increments.
C.Fn-2Flash sync. speed in Av (Aperture-priority AE) mode
    0: Auto
The flash sync speed is set automatically within a range of 30 sec. to 1/
200 sec. to suit the scene’s brightness.
    1: 1/200 sec. (fixed)
The flash picture can be taken without camera shake.
The exposure level will be displayed in the viewfinder and on the LCD
    monitor as shown below.

    3 Custom Function SettingsN
    C.Fn II: Image
    C.Fn-3 Long exposure noise reduction
    0: Off
    1: Auto
For 1 sec. or longer exposures, noise reduction is performed
automatically if noise typical of long exposures is detected. This [Auto]
setting is effective in most cases.
    2: On
Noise reduction is performed for all exposures 1 sec. or longer. The [On]
setting may be effective for noise that cannot be detected or reduced
    with the [Auto] setting.
C.Fn-4 High ISO speed noise reduction
    0: Off
    1: On
Reduces the noise generated in the image. Although noise reduction is
applied at all ISO speeds, it is particularly effective at high ISO speeds.
At low ISO speeds, the noise in the shadow areas is further reduced.
With setting 2, if a long exposure is made during Live View shooting, the
LCD monitor will not display anything (no Live View image display) while
    noise reduction is applied.
After the picture is taken, the noise reduction process may take the same
amount of time as the exposure. You cannot take another picture until the
    noise reduction process is completed.
With setting 1, the maximum burst for continuous shooting will greatly
decrease. White balance bracketing will also be disabled.

    							3 Custom Function SettingsN
    156
    C.Fn-5 Highlight tone priority
    0: Disable
    1: Enable
Improves the highlight detail. The dynamic range is expanded from the
standard 18% gray to bright highlights. The gradation between the grays
    and highlights becomes smoother.
    C.Fn-6 Auto Lighting Optimizer
    0: Enable
If the image comes out too dark or the contrast is too low, the image
brightness and contrast are corrected automatically. (Depending on the
shooting conditions, image noise may increase.) This function will not
work with manual exposures nor 1 and 1+73 images.
In the Basic Zone modes, the Auto Lighting Optimizer will operate
    automatically.
    1: Disable
With setting 1, noise in the shadow areas may be slightly more than usual.
With setting 1, the settable ISO speed range will be 200 - 1600.
Also, the ISO speed displayed in the viewfinder, will have the “0” displayed
as a smaller character such as “2oo”. When the image’s shooting
information (p.131) is displayed, the ISO speed’s “0” will also be displayed
    as a smaller character.

    1: Disable
    AF-assist beam not emitted.
    2: Only external flash emits

    the AF-assist beam.
C.Fn-8 AF during Live View shooting
When 1 or 2 is set, AF will be possible during Live View shooting. For
    details, see pages 102 - 106.

    2: Live mode (p.104)
    C.Fn-9 Mirror lockup
    0: Disable
    1: Enable
Prevents camera vibrations caused by the reflex mirror action which can
disturb shooting with super telephoto lenses or close-up (macro)
shooting. See page 94 for the mirror lockup procedure.
If the external, EOS-dedicated Speedlite’s [AF-assist beam firing] Custom
Function is set to [Disabled], the Speedlite will not emit the AF-assist beam
even if the camera’s C.Fn-7-0/2 is set.

This is useful for subjects which keep moving and stopping repeatedly.
In the AI Servo AF mode, you can press the button to start or stop
the AI Servo AF operation. The exposure is set at the moment the

If you pressed the button and then turn off the power while the
shooting settings are displayed, the LCD monitor will turn on the next

Data for verifying whether the image is original or not is appended to the
image automatically. When the shooting information of an image
appended with the verification data is displayed (p.131), the icon
