69 Shooting Raise the ISO speed when you wish to reduce the effects of camera shake, turn the flash off when shooting in a dark area, or use a fast shutter speed. Adjusting the ISO Speed Shooting Mode 1Press the button and switch settings. zCycle through the / / / /[Auto] with each press of the button. zSelecting [Auto] sets the sensitivity to produce the optimal image quality.
70 Your camera is equipped with an Intelligent Orientation sensor that detects the orientation of an image shot with the camera held vertically and automatically rotates it to the correct orientation when viewing it on the LCD monitor. zWhen the camera is held vertically to shoot, the Intelligent Orientation sensor judges the upper end to be “up” and the lower end to be “down”. It then regulates the optimal white balance, exposure and focus for vertical photography. This function operates regardless of the on/off status of the Auto Rotate function. z When the Auto Rotate function is set to [On] in shooting mode, the orientation of the camera is recorded when the shot is taken. z When the Auto Rotate function is set to [On] in playback mode, images will be rotated to their correct orientation on the LCD monitor as needed when the camera’s orientation is changed (only applies to images shot when the Auto Rotate function was set to [On]). See Menus and Settings (p. 32). zWhen the Auto Rotate function is set to [On] and the LCD monitor is set to the detailed display mode, the (normal), (right end is down) or (left end is down) will appear in the display. z This function may not operate correctly when the camera is pointed straight up or down. Check that the arrow is pointing in the right direction and if it is not, then set the Auto Rotate function to [Off]. z Even if the Auto Rotate function is set to [On], the orientation of images downloaded to a computer will depend upon the software used to download the images.
71 Shooting You can create a new folder at any time and the recorded images will be automatically saved to that folder. Creating a folder the next time you shoot Setting the Day or Time for Automatic Folder Creation Creating an Image Destination (Folder) Shooting Mode Create New FolderCreates a new folder the next time you shoot images. To create an additional folder, insert anot her check mark. Auto CreateYou can also specify a date and time if you wish to create a new folder using a shooting time after the specified date and time (p. 36). 1 (Set up) Menu [Create Folder]. See Menus and Settings (p. 32). 2Use the or button to place a check mar k beside [Create New Folder] . z displays on the LCD monitor. The symbol will cease to display after the new folder is created. 2Select a day for the [Auto Create] option and a time in the [Time] option . z displays when the specified time arrives. The symbol will cease to display after the new folder is created.
72 Up to 2000 images can be saved into one folder. A new folder will automatically be created when you record more than that number even if you are not creating new folders. The images you shoot are automatically assigned file numbers. You can select how the file number is assigned. File Number Reset Function * When a blank memory card is used. If a memory card with recorded data is used, the 7-digit number for the last recorded folder and image is compared with the last one on the card, and the larger of the two is utilized as the basis for new images. Resetting the File Number Shooting Mode 1 (Set up) Menu [File numbering] [Auto reset]/[Continuous]. See Menus and Settings (p. 32). Continuous A number one higher than the last one recorded is assigned to the next image. This is convenient for managing all your images toget her on a comput er because you avoid file name duplication when changing folders or memory cards*. Auto resetThe folder and image number are reset to the starting value (100-0001)*. This is convenient for managing images on a folder-by-folder basis.
73 Shooting File and Folder Numbers Recorded images are assigned consecutive file numbers starting with 0001 and ranging up to 9999, while folders are assigned numbers starting with 100 and ranging up to 999. Up to 2,000 images can be saved into a single folder. zImages may be saved to a new folder when there is insufficient free space even if the total number of images in a folder is less than 2,000 because the following types of image are always saved together into the same folder. - Images from continuous shooting - Self-timer images (custom) - Stitch Assist mode images - My Colors images ([Save Original] set to [On]) zImages cannot be played back when the folder numbers are duplicated or image numbers are duplicated within folders. zPlease refer to the Software & Wireless Guide for information regarding folder structures or image types. 74 Playback/Erasing Please also see the Basic Guide (p. 11). To Cancel the Magnified Display Press the zoom lever toward . (You can also cancel it immediately by pressing the MENU button.) Magnifying Images 1Press the zoom lever toward . z will display and a magnified portion of the image will display. zImages can be magnified up to a factor of approximately 10x. 2Use the , , or button to move around the image. zIf you press the FUNC./SET button while in magnified display, the camera switches to image advance mode and will display. You can use the or button to advance to the next or previous image at the same level of magnification. The image advance mode is canceled when you press the FUNC./SET button again. zYou can change the magnification level with the zoom lever. Movie frames and index playback images cannot be magnified. 76 When you have many images recorded onto a memory card, it is handy to use the five search keys below to jump over images to find the object of your search. 78 zUse the television’s controls to adjust the volume when playing a movie on a TV set (p. 93). zThe sound cannot be played in slow motion playback. You can delete portions of recorded movies. Editing Movies Movies 1 second or longer before editing can be edited, but those that are protected or less than 1 second long cannot be edited. 1Select (Edit) in the movie control panel and press . zThe movie editing panel and the movie editing bar will display. 2Use the or button to select (Cut Beginning) or (Cut End) and the or button to specify the cut point( ). zTo check a temporarily edited movie, select (Play) and press the FUNC./SET button. zSelecting (Exit) cancels the edit and restores the movie control panel. 3Select (Save) and press .
