69 Playback/Erasing To Return to Single Image Playback Press the zoom lever toward . Viewing Images in Sets of Nine (Index Playback) 1Press the zoom lever toward . zUp to nine images can be viewed at once. zUse the , , or button to change the image selection. Switching between Sets of Nine Images The jump bar will display if you press the zoom lever toward while in index playback and you can switch the display between sets of nine images. zUse the or button to move to the previous or next set of nine images. zHold the FUNC./SET button down and press the or button to jump to the first or last set. 70 When you have many images recorded onto a memory card, it is handy to use the five search keys below to jump over images to find the object of your search. To Return to Single Image Playback Press the MENU button. Jumping to Images Jump 10 ImagesJumps over 10 images at a time. Jump 100 ImagesJumps over 100 images at a time. Jump Shot DateJumps to the first image of each shooting date. Jump to MovieJumps to a movie. Jump to FolderDisplays the first image in each folder. 1In single image playback mode, press the button. zThe camera will switch to jump search mode. zThe screen sample will vary slightly according to the search key. 2Use the or button to select a search key and press the or button. 71 Playback/Erasing Operating the Movie Control Panel zUse the television’s controls to adjust the volume when playing a movie on a TV set (p. 88). zThe sound cannot be played in slow motion playback. Viewing Movies Movies cannot be played in the index playback mode. 1Display a movie and press . zImages with a icon are movies. 2Select (Play) and press . zThe movie will pause if you press the FUNC./SET button during playback. It will resume when you press the button again. zWhen playback ends, the movie stops at the last frame displayed. Press the FUNC./SET button to display the movie control panel. Ends playback and returns to single image playback Print (An icon will display when a printer is connected. See the Direct Print User Guide for details.) 72 You can delete portions of recorded movies. Editing Movies Movies 1 second or longer before editing can be edited in 1- second increments, but those that are protected or less than 1 second long cannot be edited. 1Select (Edit) in the movie control panel and press . zThe movie editing panel and the movie editing bar will display. 2Use the or button to select (Cut Beginning) or (Cut End) and the or button to specify the cut point( ). zTo check a temporarily edited movie, select (Play) and press the FUNC./SET button. zSelecting (Exit) cancels the edit and restores the movie control panel. 3Select (Save) and press . 73 Playback/ErasingIt may take approximately 3 minutes to save an edited movie. If the battery runs out of charge partway through, edited movie clips cannot be saved. When editing movies, it is recommended to use a fully charged battery or the separately sold AC Adapter Kit ACK-DC10 (p. 108). 4Select [New File] or [Overwrite] and press . z[New File] saves the edited movie under a new file name. The pre- edit data is left unchanged. Note, if you press the FUNC./SET button while saving the movie, saving is canceled. z[Overwrite] saves the edited movie with its original name. The pre-edit data is lost. zWhen there is not enough space left on the memory card, only [Overwrite] can be selected.
74 Images can be rotated clockwise 90° or 270° in the display. Rotating Images in the Display 1 (Play) Menu . See Menus and Settings (p. 27). 2Use the or button to select an image to rotate and press to rotate it. zCycle through the 90°/270°/original orientations with each press of the FUNC./SET button. zThis also can be set in the index playback mode. zMovies cannot be rotated. zWhen images are downloaded to a computer, the orientation of images rotated by the camera will depend upon the software used to download the images. 75 Playback/Erasing You can select the transition effect displayed when switching between images. The transition effect will not display when an image is switched while the camera is reading an image from the memory card. In playback mode (including single image playback and index playback), you can attach sound memos (up to 60 seconds) to an image. The sound data is saved in the WAVE format. Playback with Transition Effects The displayed image darkens and the next image gradually brightens until it is displayed. Press the button to have the previous image display from the left and the button to have the next image display from the right. 1 (Play) Menu / . See Menus and Settings (p. 27). 76 Sound Memo Panel 2Use the or button to select an image to attach a sound memo to and press . zThe sound memo panel will display. 3Select (Record) and press . zThe elapsed time and the remaining time display. zPressing the FUNC./SET button pauses the recording. Pressing it again resumes recording. zUp to 60 seconds of recordings can be added to any one image. 77 Playback/Erasing Automated Playback of Memory Card Images. Image settings for slide shows are based on the Digital Print Order Format (DPOF) standard (p. 82). Automated Playback (Slide Shows) All ImagesPlays all images on a memory card in order. DatePlays images bearing a specified date in order. FolderPlays images in a specified folder in order. MoviePlays movie files only, in order. 78 Transition Effects You can select the transition effect used when one image is replaced by another. In single image playback mode (when displaying a still image), you can start a slide show from the current image displayed by holding the FUNC./SET button while you press the button. Please note that if you do this while the last image shot is displayed, the slide show will start from the first image using the same date. 3Select [Start] and press . zThe following functions are available during slide shows. - Pausing/resuming the slide show: press the FUNC./SET button - Fast forwarding/rewinding the slide show: press the or button (continue to hold the button to switch between images more rapidly) - Stopping the slide show: press the MENU button. The new image gradually brightens as it moves upward from the bottom. The new image first appears in a cross shape and gradually expands to display the full image. Portions of the new image move horizontally, then the image expands to display the full image.
