19 Basic OperationPlacing Documents on the Platen Glass 1 Open the feeder\f 2 Place your document face down\f 3 Align the upper left edge of your document with the arrow mark\f• If the d\fcument is a transparency, place white paper ab\fve the d\fcument. 4 Close the feeder\f Placing Documents in the Feeder 1 Spread the document guides a little wider than the document’s width\f • When placing large d\fcuments, pull \fut the tray extensi\fn. 2 Fan the document stack and align the edges of the pages\f Thoroughly fan the paper \fn small batches. Al\fgn the edges a few t\fmes on a flat surface. CAUTION When cl\fsing the feeder, be careful n\ft t\f get y\fur fingers caught.
20 3 Neatly place the documents face up\f• Make sure that the paper stack d\fes n\ft exceed the l\fad limit marks (). 4 Align the document guides tightly to the width of the document\f IMPORTANTIM PO RTA N T • If the d\fcument guides are t\f\f l\f\fse \fr t\f\f tight, this may result in misfeeds \fr paper jams. • While scanning d\fcuments, d\f n\ft add \fr rem\fve d\fcuments. • When scanning is c\fmplete, rem\fve the d\fcument t\f av\fid paper jams. Load Paper \bef\fre l\fading paper, check the paper is the right type.
