Saving Images to a Computer When sending images to a computer, use the computer instead of the camera. Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.6 are used here for the sake of illustration. For other functions, refer to the help system of the relevant software (some software excluded). 1 Display CameraWindow. zzIn Windows, access CameraWindow by clicking [Downloads Images From Canon Camera]. zzOn a Macintosh computer, CameraWindow is automatically displayed when a Wi-Fi connection is established between the camera and computer. 2 Import images. zzClick [Import Images from Camera], and then click [Import Untransferred Images]. zzImages are now saved to the Pictures folder on the computer, in separate folders named by date. zzClick [OK] in the screen that is displayed after image import is complete. For instructions on viewing images on a computer, refer to “Software Instruction Manual” ( = 131).

Note that images cannot be sent only to Web services. Initial Preparations Install and configure the software on the destination computer. 1 Install the software. zzInstall the software on a computer connected to the Internet (= 100). 2 Register the camera. zzWindows: In the taskbar, right-click [], and then click [Add new camera]. zzMacintosh: In the menu bar, click [], and then click [Add new camera]. zzChoose a source camera from one of the cameras listed, which are linked to CANON iMAGE GATEWAY (= 97). zzOnce the camera is registered and ready to receive images, the icon changes to [ ]. • Movies will take longer to import since the file size is larger than still images. • To disconnect from the camera, turn off the camera. • You can also specify to save all images or only selected images to the computer, and you can change the destination folder. Refer to “Software Instruction Manual” ( = 131) for details. • In Windows 7, if the screen in step 2 is not displayed, click the [] icon in the taskbar. • On a Macintosh computer, if CameraWindow is not displayed, click the [CameraWindow] icon in the Dock (the bar at the bottom of the desktop). • Although you can save images to a computer simply by connecting your camera to the computer without using the software, the following limitat\ ions apply. - It may take a few minutes after you connect the camera to the computer u\ ntil camera images are accessible. - Images shot in vertical orientation may be saved in horizontal orientati\ on. - Image protection settings may be cleared from images saved to a computer\ . - Some problems may occur when saving images or image information, depending on the operating system version, the software in use, or image\ file sizes. - Some functions provided by the software may not be available, such as movie editing.

Note that images stored on the computer are sent to CANON iMAGE GATEWAY, so the computer must be connected to the Internet. 3 Choose the type of images to send (only when sending movies with images). zzPress the button, and then choose [Wi-Fi Settings] on the [3] tab (= 23). zzPress the buttons to choose [Image Sync], and then press the buttons to choose [Stills/ Movies]. • To choose a Web service as the destination, follow the steps in “Registering Other Web Services” (= 99) to update the camera settings. Sending Images Images sent from the camera are automatically saved to the computer. If the computer that you intend to send images to is turned off, the images will be stored temporarily on the CANON iMAGE GATEWAY server. Stored images are regularly erased, so make sure to turn on the computer and save the images. zzFollow the steps in “Connecting to WPS- Compatible Access Points” (= 103) to choose []. zzOnce the connection is established, the images are sent.

Editing Connection Information 1 Access the Wi-Fi menu (= 101). 2 Choose a device to edit. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose the icon of the device to edit, and then press the button. 3 Choose [Edit a Device]. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose [Edit a Device], and then press the button. 4 Choose a device to edit. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose the device to edit, and then press the button. Geotagging Images on the Camera GPS data recorded on a smartphone using the dedicated CameraWindow application ( = 99) can be added to images on the camera. Images are tagged with information including the latitude, longitude, and elevation\ . • Before shooting, make sure the date and time and your home time zone are set correctly. (See “Setting the Date and Time” (= 14).) Additionally, in [Time Zone] (= 11 9 ), specify any shooting destinations that are in other time zones. • The smartphone you will use for geotagging must be authorized to view the images on the camera ( = 107). • Others may be able to locate or identify you by using location data in your geotagged still images or movies. Be careful when sharing these images with others, as when posting images online where many others can view them.

Customize commonly used functions as desired, for greater convenience ( = 23). Silencing Camera Operations Silence camera sounds and movies as follows. zzChoose [Mute], and then choose [On]. • Operation can also be silenced by holding down the < l> button as you turn the camera on. • Sound is not played during movies ( = 73) if you mute camera sounds. To restore sound during movies, press the < o> button. Adjust volume with the buttons, as needed. • Sound settings cannot be changed in [ ] mode (= 43). Adjusting the Volume Adjust the volume of individual camera sounds as follows. zzChoose [Volume], and then press the button. zzChoose an item, and then press the buttons to adjust the volume. Hiding Hints and Tips Hints and tips are normally shown when you choose FUNC. ( = 22) or MENU (= 23) items. If you prefer, you can deactivate this information. zzChoose [Hints & Tips], and then choose [Off]. Date and Time Adjust the date and time as follows. zzChoose [Date/Time], and then press the button. zzPress the buttons to choose an option, and then adjust the setting, either by pressing the < o> buttons or turning the dial.

This convenient feature eliminates the need to change the Date/ Time setting manually. Before using the world clock, be sure to set the date and time and your \ home time zone, as described in “Setting the Date and Time” (= 14). 1 Specify your destination. zzChoose [Time Zone], and then press the button. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose [ World], and then press the button. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose the destination. zzTo set daylight saving time (1 hour ahead), press the buttons to choose [ ]. zzPress the button. 2 Switch to the destination time zone. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose [ World], and then press the button. zz[] is now shown on the shooting screen (= 149). • Adjusting the date or time while in [] mode (= 14) will automatically update your [ Home] time and date. Lens Retraction Timing The lens is normally retracted for safety about one minute after you pre\ ss the button in Shooting mode ( = 20). To have the lens retracted immediately after you press the < 1> button, set the retraction timing to [0 sec.]. zzChoose [Lens Retract], and then choose [0 sec.]. Using Eco Mode This function allows you to conserve battery power in Shooting mode. Whe\ n the camera is not in use, the screen quickly darkens to reduce battery consumption. 1 Configure the setting. zzChoose [Eco Mode], and then choose [On]. zz[] is now shown on the shooting screen (= 149). zzThe screen darkens when the camera is not used for approximately two seconds; approximately ten seconds after darkening, the screen turns off. The camera turns off after approximately three minutes of inactivity.

Power-Saving Adjustment Adjust the timing of automatic camera and screen deactivation (Auto Pow\ er Down and Display Off, respectively) as needed ( = 20). zzChoose [Power Saving], and then press the button. zzAfter choosing an item, press the buttons to adjust it as needed. • To conserve battery power, you should normally choose [On] for [Auto Power Down] and [1 min.] or less for [Display Off]. • The [Display Off] setting is applied even if you set [Auto Power Down] to [Off]. • These power-saving functions are not available when you have set Eco mod\ e (= 11 9 ) to [On]. Screen Brightness Adjust screen brightness as follows. zzChoose [LCD Brightness], and then press the buttons to adjust the brightness. • For maximum brightness, press and hold the < l> button for at least one second when the shooting screen is displayed or when in single-image dis\ play. (This will override the [LCD Brightness] setting on the [ 3] tab.) To restore the original brightness, press and hold the < l> button again for at least one second or restart the camera. Hiding the Start-Up Screen If you prefer, you can deactivate display of the start-up screen normally shown when you turn the camera on. zzChoose [Start-up Image], and then choose [Off].
