GettInG started • Remove all packing material and any stickers; peel off clear protective film from control panel. • Please go to www.prodprotect.com/applica to register your warranty. • Wash all removable parts as instructed in CARe ANd CleANING section of this manual. • Wipe outside of appliance with a damp cloth; dry thoroughly. • Insert reversible slide rack halfway into lower rack slot position (C). • lift the oven door to bring up the rack hooks, then slide the rack along the slots until it engages with the hooks. Important: the rack will not slide forward unless it is inside the hooks on the door. note: The hooks only function when the rack is in the lower slot. • Close the oven door, noting that rack slides completely into oven. • Select a location where this unit is to be used allowing enough space for back of the unit and the wall to allow heat to flow without damage to cabinets and walls. • Insert crumb tray below lower heating elements. • Remove tie from cord and unwind. • Plug unit into electrical outlet. Important: this oven gets hot. When in use, always use oven mitts or potholders when touching any outer or inner surface of the oven. note: during first few minutes of use you may notice smoke and a slight odor. 8 9 enGLIsH HeLpFuL HInts aBout Your oVen • When the oven is turned on, the blue power indicator light will come on and remain lit until the oven is turned off manually or automatically once the timer has been used. • When selecting cook time for a particular product or recipe, include preheat time . • This oven has a 30 minute timer. If baking something that will take longer than 30 minutes, we suggest you use the STAY oN feature. • Metal, ovenproof glass and ceramic bake ware without lids can be used in the oven. If foods require covering, use aluminum foil. • Be sure the top of the container or food being baked or broiled is at least 1½ inches away from the upper heating elements. • Turn the temperature control knob to MIN, the function knob to KeeP WARM and the timer to oFF before inserting or removing plug from electrical outlet. • do not put any container directly on the lower heating element. • To obtain the best performance from this toaster oven: • do not overfill the oven. • To avoid heat loss do not open the door too frequently • When using foil to cover a food, tuck the edges of the foil against the sides of the baking dish or pan. o VerVIeW oF tHe FunC tIons Caution: this oven gets hot. When in use, always use oven mitts or potholders when touching any outer or inner surface of the oven. Important: For best results, preheat oven for 8 to 10 minutes at desired baking temperature before baking food. BaKInG 1. Insert slide rack into the lower rack position, engaging rack hooks as directed in GeTTING STARTed. 2. Turn temperature control knob to desired temperature from 150º F to 450º F. 3. Turn cooking function selector knob to BAKe. 4. Turn timer knob to 10, then turn back or forward to desired baking time, including preheat time. (Select STAY oN to bake longer than 30 minutes or to control cooking time yourself. Be sure to use a kitchen timer.) Important: You must set the timer or select staY on for the oven to function. 5. The blue power indicator light comes on and will remain lit during the entire baking time. 6. The heating elements will cycle on and off to maintain even heat distribution. 7. once oven has preheated, open oven door and insert food. Close oven door. note: You can bake 3 ways: • Use the baking pan placed on the oven rack. • Place the baking pan under the slide rack and place food directly on the rack. note: Be sure food does not extend past the edges of the baking pan to prevent grease from dripping onto the heating elements. • Use a metal, glass or ceramic baking dish placed on the slide rack in either the upper or lower rack slots. (Be sure food or baking dish does not come within 1½ inches of the top heating elements.) 8. The first time you use the oven, bake following the manufacturers’ or recipe directions and check for doneness at minimum suggested cooking time. note: If using the timer, there will be an audible signal once the baking cycle is complete. The oven will turn off and the light will go out. 9. If not using the oven timer, turn the timer to oFF once cooking cycle is complete. 10. open the oven door. Using oven mitts or pot holders, slide the rack out to remove the cooked food. Caution: this oven gets hot. When in use, always use oven mitts or potholders when touching any outer or inner surface of the oven. 11. Unplug appliance when not in use. Caution: When turning off the appliance manually be sure to stop at the oFF position on the bottom dial. Boneless chicken tenders 1 – 6 pieces, to fit pan 375º F 15 – 25 minutes Chicken should register 180ºF on meat thermometer. Steak, pork or lamb chops and ham 1 – 2, to fit pan 350ºF to desired doneness Arrange in single layer on slide rack over baking pan Check with meat thermometer for doneness. Fish filets or steaks 1 – 4, to fit pan 400º F, about 12 minutes Test for doneness; fish will flake easily. Turn cooking function selector to BRoIl. 3. Turn time selector to 10 and then immediately turn back or forward to desired broiling time, including 8 minute preheat. note: Select STAY oN to control cooking time yourself. Be sure to use a kitchen timer. 4. If you need to insert baking pan, place it under the slide rack and then place food directly on the rack. note: Be sure food does not extend past the edges of the baking pan to prevent grease dripping onto the heating elements. Also be sure the top of food is at least 1½ inches from the top heating element. 5. Broil food according to recipe or package directions and check for doneness at minimum suggested broiling time. 6. If using the oven timer, there will be an audible signal once the broiling cycle is complete. The oven turns off and the light goes out. 7. If not using the oven timer, turn the oven to off once broiling cycle is complete. 8. open the oven door. Using oven mitts or pot holders, slide the rack out along with the bake/broil pan to remove the cooked food. Caution: this oven gets hot. When in use, always use oven mitts or potholders when touching any outer or inner surface of the oven. 9. Unplug appliance when not in use. BroILInG tIps • Preheat for at least 8 minutes for improved performance. • Placing food on slide rack allows the drippings to flow into the baking pan and reduce the fat in the foods being broiled. It also helps to eliminate or prevent smoking from the broiler. • For best results, thaw frozen meat, poultry and fish before broiling. • Trim excess fat from meat and score edges to prevent curling. • Brush foods to be broiled with sauce or oil and season as desired before broiling • Fish fillets and steaks are delicate and should be broiled directly on baking pan. • There is no need to turn fish fillets during broiling. Carefully turn thick fish steaks midway through broiling cycle. toastInG Important: It is not necessary to preheat the oven for toasting. 1. open oven door and insert side slots in the lower slot position. 2. engage the integrated hooks on the door as directed in GeTTING STARTed. 3. Place desired pieces of bread to be toasted directly on slide rack and close the door. 4. Turn TeMP dial to Bagel/Toast and the FUNCTIoN dial to Toast. 5. Turn toast shade selector to 10 and then immediately turn back to desired toast shade. note: You must set the toast shade selector as desired for the oven to begin toasting. 6. Unplug appliance when not in use. toast tIps • You must turn the toast shade selector knob to oFF to discontinue toasting. • When repeating the toast cycle immediately, it is suggested to set the toast shade selector to a slightly lighter setting. toastInG Ba GeLs Important: It is not necessary to preheat the oven to use the bagel toasting function. 1. open oven door and insert side slots in the lower slot position. 2. engage the integrated hooks on the door as directed in GeTTING STARTed. 3. Place desired number of bagels to be toasted directly on slide rack and close the door. 4. Turn TeMP dial to Bagel/Toast and the FUNCTIoN dial to Bagel. 5. Turn toast shade selector to 10 and then immediately turn back to bagel setting ( ). note: You must set the toast shade selector to the bagel icon for the oven to begin toasting your bagels correctly. 6. The blue power indicator light comes on and remains on until bagel toasting cycle is complete. 7. When bagel toasting is complete, there will be an audible signal. The oven and the power indicator light will turn off. 8. open the oven door. Using oven mitts or pot holders, slide the rack out to remove your bagels. Caution: this oven gets hot. (Select STAY oN to control cooking time yourself. Be sure to use a kitchen timer.) note: This feature is designed to keep already cooked foods warm after they have been cooked. This function should be used for short periods of time; to prevent food from drying out cover with foil. 4. When cycle is complete, there will be an audible signal. The oven and the on indicator light will go off. 5. If not using the oven timer, turn the oven to oFF when not in use.
1 1 enGLIsH trouBLesHootInG proBLeMpossIBLe Cause soLutIon oven is not heating or stops heating. oven is not plugged in or outlet is not working. Check that all three knobs are set to the appropriate setting and the blue power indicator light is on. Check that outlet is working. Second toasting is too dark. Toast setting selected is too dark. When doing repeated toast cycles remember to select a slightly lighter setting for the 2nd and 3rd toasting. Toast function is not working. All 3 knobs are not properly set; bottom knob not turned past 10 before selecting desired toast color. In order to toast, all three knobs must be turned to the proper setting: turn top and middle dial to To AST; turn bottom dial past 10 and then back to desired toast color. Moisture forms on the inside of the door during toasting. The amount of moisture in the product being toasted will vary from one manufacturer to another. The moisture that forms on the door is common and usually disappears before the 3rd of the toasting cycle. Because the oven is a closed appliance the moisture cannot evaporate as it would in a toaster. Food is overcooked or undercooked. Temperature and/or cook time may need to be adjusted. Since the toaster oven is much smaller than a conventional oven it may cook faster. Try lowering the temperature setting 25 degrees from the suggested setting in a recipe or label directions. There is a burnt food odor or smoking when oven is in use. There are remnants of food on the walls of the oven or in the crumb tray. Refer to the directions in C ARe & CleANING in this booklet. Make sure all parts of the oven are clean and free of debris. Heating elements do not seem to be on. The heating elements in the toaster oven will cycle on and off during baking. Check toaster oven to make sure proper function is selected. on broil, only the top heating elements will be on. Care and Cleaning This product contains no user serviceable parts. Refer service to qualified service personnel. CLeanInG Y our oVen Important: Before cleaning any part, be sure the oven is off, unplugged and has cooled completely. Always dry parts thoroughly before using oven after cleaning. 1. Clean the glass door with a sponge, soft cloth or nylon pad and sudsy water. do not use a spray glass cleaner. 2. To remove the slide rack, open the door, pull the rack forward and out. Wash the slide rack in sudsy water. To remove stubborn spots, use a polyester or nylon pad. 3. It is not recommended to wash baking pan in the dishwasher. Wash the baking pan and slide rack in sudsy water. To minimize scratching, use a polyester or nylon pad. CruMB traY note: The oven door must be closed to remove crumb tray. 1. Grasp the handle below the oven glass door and pull out the tray (d) . 2. dispose of crumbs and wipe the tray with a dampened cloth. 3. Be sure to dry thoroughly before inserting the tray back into the oven. CLeanInG InsIde oF oVen t o clean inside of oven: 1. Heat oven to 200º F 2. Turn toaster oven off. 3. Place shallow glass bowl containing ½ cup ammonia on rack. 4. Close oven door and let stand overnight. 5. Next day, open oven, remove bowl and wipe interior of oven with moist paper towels. t o refresh air inside oven: 1. lay strips of orange or lemon peel on rack. 2. Heat toaster oven to 350º F and bake for 30 minutes. 3. Turn oven off and let stand until oven is completely cool. 4. Remove peel. eXterIor surFaCes Important: the oven top and side surfaces get hot. Make sure the oven has cooled completely before cleaning. Wipe the top and exterior walls with a damp cloth or sponge. dry thoroughly. CooKInG ContaIners Metal, ovenproof glass or ceramic bake ware without glass lids can be used in your oven. Follow manufacturer’s instructions. Be sure the top edge of the container is at least 1½” (3.81 cm) away from the upper heating elements. d

Cover and let stand at room temperature to blend flavors. Place pork chops on broil rack in bake/broil pan. Season with salt and garlic pepper. Broil in preheated Black & decker ® Countertop oven at 450º F for 7 minutes. Turn pork chops over and continue broiling until internal temperature of pork is 160º F when tested with a meat thermometer. Serve chops with salsa. delicious served with garlic whipped potatoes and a fresh green salad. Makes 2 servings. reCIpes sunda Y MornInG BreaKF ast Bread 1 pkg (8.5 oz.) corn muffin mix 1 egg ½ cup half and half ½ cup sour cream ½ cup chopped toasted almonds ½ cup dried cranberries ½ cup raisins Preheat Black & decker ® Countertop oven to 400º F. In large bowl, combine all ingredients. Blend (batter will be slightly lumpy) and let rest 3 to 4 minutes. Stir batter and spoon into greased 8-inch square baking pan. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden. Serve warm or at room temperature. Makes 9 servings. BasIL LeMon HaLIBut 1½ cups halved cherry tomatoes 3 tbsp. chopped Italian parsley 1 tbsp. slivered fresh basil 1 tbsp. snipped fresh chives 1 tbsp. slivered lemon peel ½ tsp. kosher salt 2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice 1 tbsp. olive oil 2 halibut fillets (about 6 oz, ea.) ¼ tsp. garlic pepper Preheat Black & decker ® Countertop oven to 400º F. Meanwhile, in medium bowl, combine tomatoes, parsley, basil, chives, lemon peel, ¼ tsp. salt, lemon juice and olive oil; blend well. Spoon into 1-quart shallow baking dish. Place fish on top and season with remaining ¼ tsp. salt and garlic pepper. Bake for 20 minutes or until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork. (Fish will have an internal temperature of 145º F.) Makes 2 servings.
