GeTTiNG sT aRTed • Remove all packing material and any stickers from the product. • Remove and save literature. • Wash all removable parts as instructed in CARe A\fd CleA\fI\fG section of this manual. • Wipe outside of appliance with a damp cloth; dry thoroughly. BleNdeR J aR asseMBl Y 1. Turn blending jar upside down and place flat on countertop or work surface. 2. Put gasket on top of blade assembly. Place blade assembly with gasket into bottom opening of the jar with blades facing down. \b. Place jar base onto jar and rotate clockwise until it is tight (B). 4. Turn assembled jar right side up. 5. Place lid with lid cap onto blending jar. 6. Uncoil power cord from storage area under the base. Not\f\b do not plug in the cord. 7. Place jar assembly on base, making sure it is pressed firmly into place. (Jar base should not extend more than ¹⁄ 8-inch above the rim at the top of the base.) (c). 8. Blender is now ready for use. UsiNG Y oUR BleNdeR 1. Make sure appliance is oFF. 2. Place foods to be blended into jar. \b. Place lid on jar; make sure lid cap is in place. 4. Plug power cord into outlet. Not\f\b When in use, do not leave blender unattended. When using hard foods, such as ice, cheese, nuts and coffee beans, keep one hand on the lid to keep blender in place. 5. Press the High (HI) or low (lo) button; then select the speed that best suits your desired task. To switch speeds, press the High (HI) or low (lo) button and the new speed desired. (see sPeed CHART on page 24.) B c
2223 eNGlisH 6. When blending thick mixtures, such as smoothies, power drinks and milkshakes press the Pulse button several times to begin the blending process. Press the Pulse button for no more than 5 seconds at a time. When finished, press the Pulse/off button. Make sure blades have completely stopped before attempting to remove the blending jar from the base. 9. To remove the jar, grasp the handle and lift straight up. do not twist the jar. 10. Remove lid to pour. 11. Always unplug the appliance when not in use. BleNdiNG Tips aNd TecHNiQUes • Cut food into pieces no larger than ¾-inch for use in the blender. • When preparing foods that have several different kinds of ingredients, always add liquid ingredients first. • When ingredients splatter onto the sides of the jar or the mixture is very thick, press the oFF button to turn appliance off. Remove the lid and use a rubber spatula to scrape down the sides of the jar and to redistribute the food pushing food toward the blades. Allow the blades to stop rotating between pulses. do not use Pulse for more than 2 minutes. • Use the Pulse button to begin the blending process when preparing beverages that include ice cubes; this helps to produce a smoother texture. • The PUlse function is helpful when short bursts of power are needed such as when preparing thick smoothies or milkshakes, chopping nuts or grinding coffee beans. • It is helpful to begin the blending process on the lowest speed and then increase to a higher speed, if necessary. • To stop blending, press the off button at any time d e • When blending hot liquids always let them cool at least 5 minutes before blending. Before beginning to blend, remove the lid cap and put it back with the opened side tilted away from you. 2627 eNGlisH TRoUBlesHooTiNG pRoBleM possiBle caUse solUTioN Jar bottom does not come off of jar. A vacuum has been formed. Place the jar on the blender and turn counter clockwise until jar is released from the bottom. liquid is leaking from bottom of jar. Gasket is either missing or not in place correctly. Check that jar is assembled correctly. Appliance does not turn on. Appliance is not plugged in. Check that appliance is plugged into a working outlet. Mixture in blender does not seem to be blending. \fot enough liquid in mixture being blended or too much ice. Turn the blender off and use a rubber spatula to redistribute the food; add some liquid and pulse the mixture to aid in the blending process. Herbs or bread are sticking to sides of blender and not getting chopped. Blender jar, food to be chopped and blade are not dry. Always make sure that the jar, the blade and the food to be chopped are dry. Food chopped is too fine or watery. Food is over processed. Use Pulse in short bursts or blend for a shorter time. Recipes Wild BeRRY Y oGURT cooleR 2 cups pineapple juice 1 cup wild berry frozen yogurt 1 cup frozen cubed mango 1 cup frozen hulled strawberries Combine all ingredients in order listed into blending jar and close with lid. Pulse for several seconds (three to four times). select speed 10 and let cycle run until mixture is smooth and well blended; about \b0 seconds. Makes about 4½ cups. peaR BeRRY deliGHT 1½ cups pear nectar 1 cup pineapple/passion fruit sorbet 2 cups fresh strawberries 2 cups ice cubes In blending jar, combine all ingredients in order listed. Place lid on jar. Pulse several times, for about 5 seconds each time, to blend ingredients and begin crushing ice. select speed 9 and run until smooth and well blended; about \b0 seconds. Turn blender oFF and serve immediately. Makes about \b cups. MaNGo RaspBeRRY FiZZ 1½ cups pineapple mango juice 1½ cups raspberry sorbet 1 cup frozen sliced peaches Cold club soda Mint sprigs Combine first \b ingredients in order listed in blending jar. Close lid. Pulse for several seconds (three to four times). select speed 10 and let run until mixture is smooth and well blended; about \b0 seconds. Fill tall beverage glasses half-full with raspberry mixture; top off with club soda. stir to blend. Garnish with mint sprig. Makes 4 to 6 drinks.
