SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. This product is for household use only. POLARIZED PLUG (120V Models Only) This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. 6 7 How to Use This product is for household use only. GETTING STARTED • Remove all packing material, and any stickers from the product. • Remove and save literature. • Please go to www.prodprotect.com/applica to register your warranty. • Wash all removable parts as instructed in CARe And CleAnIng section of this manual. • open one-piece cover and insert empty basket-style paper filter into removable filter basket (C). • Pour fresh cold water into the water reservoir up to the 12 MAX mark (D). • Uncoil power cord and plug into standard electrical outlet. • Brew water through appliance following the BReWIng CoFFee instructions without adding coffee grounds. This removes any dust or residue that may remain in the system during the manufacturing process. • discard the water from the carafe and the paper filter from filter basket. • Turn off the appliance; unplug it and allow appliance to cool down. BREWING COFFEE 1. open the one-piece cover of the coffeemaker. 2. Fill carafe with desired amount of cold tap water using water markings on carafe; pour into water reservoir. do not exceed the 12-cup MAX level (E). 3. Insert removable filter basket into filter basket holder. 4. Place basket-style paper filter into the removable filter basket. 5. Add desired amount of ground coffee. We suggest one heaping tablespoon per cup (F). 6. Close one-piece cover securely. 7. Place brew-thru lid on empty carafe and place carafe on the “Keep Hot” carafe plate. Note: Coffee may overflow if brew-thru lid is not properly aligned. 8. Plug cord into standard electrical outlet. 9. Press on/oFF button. The PoWeR indicator lights up and brewing begins. You do not have to set the clock if you want to brew coffee right away. For delAYed BReWIng see instructions. D C E F 10. To keep coffee hot, replace carafe on the “Keep Hot” plate when not serving coffee. The coffeemaker will keep coffee warm for 2 hours before automatically shutting off. 11. once coffee grounds have cooled, carefully open one-piece cover to expose filter basket and using basket handle, remove and discard used grounds and paper filter. Close one-piece cover. 12. Unplug appliance when not in use. SNEAK-A-CUP® FEATURE The Sneak-A-Cup® feature allows you to pour a cup of coffee from the carafe while the coffee is brewing. When the carafe is removed, the brewing process is paused. Simply replace the carafe on the carafe plate within 30 seconds and brewing resumes. Note: If the carafe is not replaced within 30 seconds the filter basket may overflow. SETTING THE CLOCK 1. Plug appliance into standard electrical outlet. 2. The digital clock display flashes 12:00 AM until correct time is programmed into appliance (G). The coffeemaker will brew coffee without the clock being set. 3. To set correct time of day: Press HoUR button until the correct time appears on the display. Repeat process with MIn button. Note: For AM there is no light showing on the digital display. For PM there is a small light in the left top corner of the display by the PM. Tip: Holding the button down makes the hours and minutes change rapidly after a short delay; tapping changes the time in 1 hour and 1 minute increments. Note: The coffeemaker will continue to keep time unless unplugged or power is interrupted even momentarily; the time will need to be reset. (Follow steps 1-3). DELAYED BREWING 1. Follow steps 1 through 8 in BReWIng CoFFee. 2. The digital clock displays the time of day. 3. Press the PRogRAM (PRog) button and the light on the right top corner of the digital display begins blinking to indicate programming is being set. 4. To set DELAYED BREWING time: Press HoUR then the MIn button to select the time you would like the coffee to automatically begin brewing (for example, 8:10 AM) 5. Press the PRogRAM (PRog) button again. The light at the top right of the digital display begins flashing. The delayed brewing is set. 6. Press the AUT o button to activate delayed brewing. The light at the top right of the digital display comes on and stays on. 7. To check the preset auto time, press the PRogRAM (PRog) button and it will display the time selected for delayed brewing to begin. Press the AUTo button again to re-activate delAYed BReWIng. 8 9 8. At the preset time, the PoWeR indicator light comes on and the coffeemaker begins brewing. 9. To cancel delAYed BReWIng, press the on/oFF button. All lights turn off. The time of day will still be visible on the digital display. COFFEE BREWING TIPS • Stir coffee in carafe before serving to evenly distribute the flavor. • Coffee that is poured during brewing cycle may vary in strength from the finished brew. • not sure how much coffee to use – begin by using 1 level tablespoon of medium grind coffee for each cup of coffee to be brewed. • For variety, add a 2-inch piece of lemon or orange peel to the coffee grounds before brewing. • For a special occasion, whip some heavy cream with 1 or 2 tablespoons of hazel nut, chocolate or almond liqueur. Use to top off each cup of coffee. • Add a 2-inch piece of vanilla bean to the sugar bowl. You’ll be surprised at how good it tastes. • Keep your coffeemaker scrupulously clean; you will be pleased with the flavor. Care and Cleaning This product contains no user serviceable parts. Refer service to qualified service personnel. CLEANING 1. Be sure the unit is unplugged and has cooled. 2. open the one-piece cover. 3. To remove the filter basket, grip the handle and lift straight up. 4. discard the paper filter with the coffee grounds. 5. Wash the filter basket, carafe and carafe lid in dishwasher, top rack, or wash by hand in hot, sudsy water. 6. Wipe the appliance’s exterior surface, control panel and “Keep Hot” carafe plate with a soft damp cloth. 7. do not use abrasive cleansers or scouring pads. never immerse the coffeemaker in water. 8. To clean the inside of the cover, open the cover and leave in the open position. 9. Pull out the showerhead from the locking tabs, wipe surfaces with a damp cloth; then push it back to insert firmly in place (H). CLEANING WITH VINEGAR Mineral deposits left by hard water can clog your coffeemaker. Cleaning is recommended once a month. 1. Pour white vinegar into the water reservoir up to the 6-cup level on the water window. Add cold water up to the 10-cup line. 2. Put a paper filter in the filter basket and close the cover. Set the empty carafe on the “Keep Hot” carafe plate. 3. Turn on the coffeemaker and let half the cleaning solution brew into the carafe (until water level goes down to around “5”). Turn off the coffeemaker and let it soak for at least 15 minutes to soften the deposits. 4. Turn on the coffeemaker and brew the remaining cleaning solution into the carafe. 5. Turn off the coffeemaker; empty the carafe and discard the soiled filter. 6. Fill the reservoir with cold water to the 11-cup line, replace the empty carafe, then turn on the coffeemaker for a complete brew cycle to flush out the remaining cleaning solution. You may have to repeat this to eliminate the vinegar smell/taste. 7. Wash the filter basket and carafe as instructed in CleAnIng. CARAFE CARE A damaged carafe may result in possible burns from a hot liquid. To avoid breaking: • do not allow all liquid to evaporate from the carafe while on the "Keep Hot" carafe plate or heat the carafe when empty. • discard the carafe if damaged in any manner. A chip or crack could result in breakage. • do not use abrasive scouring pads or cleansers, they will scratch and weaken the glass. • do not place the carafe on or near a hot gas or electric burner, in a heated oven or in a microwave oven. • Avoid rough handling and sharp blows. POWER CORD STORAGE For your convenience, the cord storage gives you the flexibility to use the exact cord length needed and keep the rest stored in the coffeemaker. To increase the length, grasp the power cord and gently pull it away from coffeemaker. To store excess cord, feed it into the coffeemaker (J). Important: Do not grasp and pull the power plug. Water reservoir might be empty. There may be no coffee grounds in the removable filter basket. Removable filter basket may not be correctly placed. Carafe may be improperly placed on the “Keep Hot” carafe plate. The filter and/or the filter basket are not properly placed. Check to be sure appliance is plugged into a working outlet and the on/oFF button has been pressed. • Make sure the water reservoir has not been filled beyond the MAX fill line. • Make sure carafe is placed correctly on “Keep Hot” carafe plate and is centered under the filter basket holder. Follow procedure in CleAnIng WITH VInegAR. Make sure water reservoir has sufficient water to brew desired number of cups of coffee. Add sufficient amount of coffee grounds to paper lined removable filter basket. Remove filter basket and replace correctly into holder. Remove carafe and insert so that carafe rests comfortably within the grooves on the “Keep Hot”carafe plate. Insert paper liner into filter basket and insert basket properly into holder.

PASOS PRELIMINARES • Retire todo material de empaque y calcomanía adherida al producto. • Retire y conserve el manual de uso y cuidado. • Por favor, visite www.prodprotect.com/applica para registrar su garantía. • lave todas las piezas según las instrucciones en la sección de CUIdAdo Y lIMPIezA de este manual. • Abra la tapa e inserte un filtro vacío de papel en el cesto removible para el filtro (C). • Vierta agua fría en el tanque de agua hasta el nivel que indica 12 tazas MAX (D). • desenrolle y enchufe el cable a un tomacorriente normal. • Sin agregar café molido, cuele agua a través del aparato, siguiendo las instrucciones en la sección, CoMo ColAR el CAFÉ. esto elimina cualquier residuo de polvo que pudiera haber en el sistema debido al proceso de fabricación. • deseche el agua de la jarra y el filtro usado. • Apague el aparato, desconéctelo y espere que se enfríe. COMO COLAR EL CAFÉ 1. Abra la tapa de la cafetera. 2. llene la jarra con agua fría de la llave hasta el nivel deseado, usando las marcas indicadas en la jarra. Vierta el agua en el tanque, sin exceder el nivel máximo de llenado de 12 tazas MAX (E). 3. Coloque el cesto desmontable para el filtro adentro del alojamiento respectivo. 4. Coloque un filtro de papel diseñado para el cesto desmontable de su cafetera. 5. Agregue la cantidad de café molido deseada. Se recomienda una cucharada repleta por taza (F). 6. Cierre y asegure bien la tapa. 7. Cubra la jarra con la tapa de colado directo y coloque la jarra sobre la placa calefactora. Nota: el café puede rebalsar si la tapa no está bien alineada. 8. enchufe el cable a un tomacorriente normal. D C E F 9. Presione el botón de encendido/apagado (on/oFF); aparece la luz roja indicadora de funcionamiento (PoWeR) y comienza el ciclo de colado. no es necesario ajustar el reloj si uno desea colar el café de inmediato. Para colar el café a determinada hora, consulte las instrucciones de colado automático. 10. después de servir, mantenga la jarra sobre la placa calefactora para conservar caliente el café sobrante. la cafetera mantiene caliente el café por 2 horas antes de apagarse automáticamente. 11. Una vez que el café molido se enfríe, abra con cuidado la tapa a manera de exponer el cesto desmontable. Sujete el cesto desmontable por el mango para retirar y desechar el café usado y el filtro de papel. Cierre la tapa. 12. desconecte la cafetera cuando no esté en uso. DISPOSITIVO DE INTERRUPCIÓN DE COLADO SNEAK-A-CUP® gracias al dispositivo de interrupción de colado Sneak-A-Cup®, uno puede servirse una taza de café durante el ciclo de colado. Nota: Para la hora AM no aparece ninguna luz indicadora en la pantalla digital. Para la hora PM, aparece una pequeña luz en la esquina superior izquierda. Consejo: el mantener presionado el botón, permite ajustar la hora y los minutos más rápido después de una corta pausa; un toque ligero cambia la programación en incrementos de 1 hora y de 1 minuto. Nota: Si uno desconecta el aparato o si se interrumpe la corriente momentáneamente, la hora debe ser reajustada. (Siga los pasos del 1 al 3). COLADO AUTOMÁTICO: 1. Siga los pasos del 1 al 8 bajo, CoMo ColAR el CAFÉ. 2. el reloj digital exhibe la hora del día. 3.
