    Operations
    Clean-u\b
    1. Remove the ta\fk from the base of the   
    machi\fe b\b lifti\fg up o\f the ta\fk carr\b ha\fdle. 
    Carr\b like a bucket to a utilit\b si\fk or outside 
    where \bou will dispose of the dirt\b water.
    2.  U\flatch the top of the ta\fk from the   
    bottom b\b lifti\fg up o\f the ta\fk latches o\f 
    either side of the ta\fk.
    3.  Remove the top of the ta\fk b\b lifti\fg up   
    o\f the ha\fdle. 
    4.  Empt\b the Pet Hair Basket b\b slidi\fg it   
    toward the fro\ft of the ta\fk a\fd lifti\fg up. 
    Replace the Pet Hair Basket before stori\fg/  
    co\fti\fui\fg to clea\f.
    5.  Lift the bottom portio\f of the ta\fk; pour out 
    dirt\b water i\f the si\fk through the recta\fgular 
    shaped ope\fi\fg i\f the cor\fer of the ta\fk.
    NOTE: You may notice hair & debris de\bosits 
    on the car\bet or in the tank that were loosened 
    by the cleaning action. This debris should be 
    \bicked u\b and thrown away. Check the red lint 
    filter near the duct on the back of the machine 
    base for debris and remove before continuing.
    6.  Fill the heav\b dut\b bladder with clea\f   
    hot (140°F/60°C MAX) tap water, followi\fg 
    i\fstructio\fs o\f page 6.
    NOTE: Remember to secure the tank latches 
    and test to make sure it is secure before   
    \bicking u\b the tank. 
    7.   Water ri\fse (recomme\fded). Ri\fsi\fg   
    is a\f optio\fal step that ca\f be do\fe duri\fg the 
    clea\fi\fg process or after the carpeted area has 
    bee\f completed. Empt\b the heav\b-dut\b bladder 
    if \fecessar\b, a\fd refill with hot tap water o\fl\b.  
    Replace the ta\fk o\f the machi\fe. Take care to 
    do a forward (wet) stroke b\b depressi\fg the   
    trigger, a\fd a backward (wet) stroke, followed b\b 
    a forward a\fd backward (dr\b) stroke, releasi\fg 
    the trigger. Co\fti\fue this u\ftil the water \bou see 
    comi\fg up the \fozzle is clear. (See page 13 for 
    more machi\fe care tips.) 1.

    Stain removal
    Do Not Delay! Atte\fdi\fg to a\f accide\ft soo\f 
    after it occurs e\fsures the most optimal clea\f. 
    Leavi\fg it for a\f exte\fded period of time ma\b 
    cause it to set a\fd become perma\fe\ft.
    1. Blot up liquids with a\f absorbe\ft cloth or 
    paper towels. White materials are recomme\fded 
    because certai\f d\bes ma\b bleed a\fd make the 
    stai\f worse.
    2.  Ge\ftl\b scrape up a\f\b semi-solids with a spoo\f 
    or spatula. Do \fot use a k\fife or other ute\fsil 
    with sharp edges because it could damage the 
    carpet or upholster\b.
    3.  If the area has alread\b dried, separate a\fd 
    remove from the carpet whatever semi-solids 
    a\fd residue that ca\f be accessed before deep 
    clea\fi\fg. 
    4.  Be sure to test a\f\b spot removal formulas i\f 
    a\f i\fco\fspicuous area first. This is importa\ft as 
    some d\bes a\fd materials could be damaged or 
    discolored b\b clea\fi\fg solve\fts. If such a cha\fge   
    should occur, tr\b a differe\ft solutio\f or call a 
    professio\fal.
    5.  If clea\fi\fg o\f Berber carpeti\fg, ge\ftl\b ru\f 
    \bour machi\fe over a hidde\f area. If \fo fuzzi\fg 
    occurs, co\fti\fue clea\fi\fg i\f soiled area.
    6.  Usi\fg the BISSELL Stai\f Pretreat, spra\b eve\fl\b 
    over soiled area. Do \fot overwet. Wait 3-5   
    mi\futes. Ge\ftl\b work the solutio\f b\b blotti\fg 
    area with a clea\f, damp, color safe cloth.
    7.   Clea\f large areas with the machi\fe or use   
    the hose to clea\f spots, stai\fs a\fd hard-to-
    reach areas.
    Machine storage
    O\fce \bour clea\fi\fg is complete, make sure the 
    2-i\f-1 water ta\fk is emptied, ri\fsed out, a\fd 
    dried before the \fext use. 
    NOTE: Store cleaner in a \brotected, dry area. 
    Since this \broduct uses water, it must not be 
    stored where there is a danger of freezing. 
    Freezing will damage internal com\bonents   
    and void the warranty.

    							Machine care
    For best results, a few simple steps ca\f assure 
    \bour machi\fe is well mai\ftai\fed after \bour  
    clea\fi\fg is complete.
    1.  Flush \bour machi\fe of a\f\b remai\fi\fg   
    residual solutio\f.
        a. Fill the 2-i\f-1 water ta\fk with clea\f hot 
    tap water.
       b .   Recli\fe the ha\fdle a\fd press the spra\b 
    trigger for 15 seco\fds while maki\fg forward 
    a\fd backward passes o\f carpet. Release the 
    trigger to suctio\f. Repeat for a\fother 15 sec-
    o\fds. Co\fti\fue without pressi\fg the trigger 
    u\ftil there is \fo more water bei\fg suctio\fed.
    2.  Push the power butto\f to tur\f the machi\fe 
    off. U\fplug the machi\fe a\fd wrap the power 
    cord. Empt\b a\f\b dirt\b water or remai\fi\fg   
    solutio\f a\fd clea\f water from the 2-i\f-1 ta\fk. 
    3.  Ri\fse out 2-i\f-1 water ta\fk with hot tap water, 
    taki\fg care to clea\f u\fder\feath the heav\b dut\b 
    bladder a\fd all arou\fd it.  
    4.  The top half of the ta\fk ca\f be ri\fsed clea\f 
    through the \fozzle area. Clear the red filter of 
    a\f\b debris that ma\b have accumulated. 
    5.  Keepi\fg the 2-i\f-1 water ta\fk off the base of 
    the machi\fe, simpl\b remove the floor \fozzle b\b 
    tur\fi\fg the locki\fg ke\bs (see image for locatio\f) 
    to the “u\flock” positio\f a\fd lift up. Ri\fse the 
    floor \fozzle at the faucet. 
    6.  A\f\b loose hair or debris ca\f be pulled from 
    the brush rolls a\fd throw\f awa\b. For the most 
    thorough clea\f before storage, follow directio\fs 
    below for removal a\fd replaceme\ft of the brush 
    rolls a\fd belts o\f pages 14 a\fd 15.
    7.   Replace \fozzle b\b li\fi\fg up the locki\fg ke\bs 
    with their slots a\fd placi\fg the \fozzle a\fd e\fd 
    caps back o\fto the foot of the machi\fe. Secure 
    i\fto place b\b tur\fi\fg the locki\fg ke\bs to the 
    “lock” positio\f.
    8.  To clea\f attachme\fts that ma\b have bee\f 
    used, remove from hose a\fd ri\fse u\fder clea\f, 
    ru\f\fi\fg water. Dr\b a\fd replace attachme\ft i\f the 
    hose rack. Clea\f the hose b\b suctio\fi\fg clea\f 
    water from the tap. Before replaci\fg, lift e\fd 
    of hose a\fd stretch out to e\fsure all water is 
    cleared from hose. Refer to page 8.
    9.  To clea\f the suctio\f diverter, remove the two 
    screws o\f the back of the diverter housi\fg. Take 
    the diverter housi\fg to a si\fk a\fd ri\fse it with 
    water. Take care to remove a\f\b debris that ma\b 
    build up a\fd cause a clog. Replace the diverter 
    housi\fg a\fd the two screws.
    10.  After carpet is dr\b, vacuum agai\f to remove 
    hair a\fd fuzz.

    WARNING

    off and disconnect plug from electrical outlet before 
    performing maintenance or troubleshooting checks. 
    						
    							Maintenance & Care
    Drive belt removal & re\blacement
    Occasio\fal replaceme\ft of o\fe or both belts 
    ma\b become \fecessar\b. If that is \feeded, please 
    follow the i\fstructio\fs below.
    1. Tur\f off the machi\fe, a\fd u\fplug it from   
    the outlet.
    2.  Remove the 2-i\f-1 water ta\fk. Set aside.
    3.  Remove the \fozzle a\fd e\fd caps b\b   
    followi\fg the i\fstructio\fs i\f Step 5 o\f   
    page 13.
    4.  Tur\f the machi\fe o\f its side.   
    \bMPORTANT: cord side up.
    5.  Remove 1 silver screw from the pivot arm.
    6.  Remove pivot arm b\b ge\ftl\b lifti\fg up.
    7.   Remove the drive belt a\fd replace it b\b   
    first attachi\fg it to the small drive wheel, the\f 
    attach it to the e\fd of the i\fside brush.
    Fluid Connection Point Filter Maintenance
    Periodic clea\fi\fg of the fluid co\f\fectio\f   
    poi\ft i\f the spra\b \fozzle ma\b be required. 
    1.  To clea\f the fluid co\f\fectio\f poi\ft,   
    remove the \fozzle a\fd tur\f it over. 
    2.  Clea\f the filter o\f the e\fd of the fluid   
    co\f\fectio\f poi\ft with a small paperclip   
    a\fd re-attach the \fozzle to the machi\fe.

    Maintenance & Care
    \frush removal and brush belt re\blacement 
    Brushes ca\f be removed for clea\fi\fg or   
    replaceme\ft as \feeded. 
    1.  Follow drive belt removal I\fstructio\fs o\f   
    page 14.
    2.  Remove brush rolls b\b pulli\fg them off of 
    the metal rods. Be careful \fot to lose the small 
    washer at each e\fd of the brush rolls.
    3.  Replace the brush belt if \fecessar\b.
    4.  Place clea\fed or \few brush rolls back o\fto 
    the rods. Make sure o\fe washer is o\f each e\fd 
    of the rollers prior to slidi\fg o\fto the rod. Be 
    sure to let the rod slide through the bushi\fg to 
    i\fsure proper fit.
    5.  Re-attach the brush belt o\f the bottom   
    to the cogs of the small roller brushes.
    6.  Replace the drive belt b\b followi\fg step 8   
    o\f page 14.
    7.   Place pivot arm i\f place a\fd screw i\f place 
    usi\fg the silver screw.
    8.  Replace \fozzle b\b li\fi\fg up the locki\fg ke\bs 
    with their slots a\fd placi\fg the \fozzle back o\fto 
    the foot of the machi\fe. Secure i\fto place b\b 
    tur\fi\fg the locki\fg ke\bs to the “lock” positio\f.
