    Beforeusingyourmachineforthefirsttime
     
    						
    							Toreducetheriskoffire,electricshock,or
    injurytopersonswhenusingyourappliance,
    followbasicprecautions,includingthefollow-

    •Donotrunappliancewhileyouareoutof

    Ifthehotwatersystemhasnotbeenused
    forsuchaperiod,beforeusingawashing
    machineorcombinationwasher-dryer,turn
    onallwaterfaucetsandletthewaterflow
    fromeachforseveralminutes.Thiswillre-
    leaseanyaccumulatedhydrogengas.As
    thegasisflammable,donotsmokeoruse
    anopenflameduringthistime.

    A)Groundinginstructionsforagrounded,
    cord-connectedappliance:
    Intheeventofmalfunctionorbreakdown,
    groundingwillreducetheriskofelectricshock
    byprovidingapathofleastresistancefor
    electriccurrent.Thisapplianceisequipped
    withacordhavinganequipment-grounding
    conductorandagroundingplug.Theplug
    mustbepluggedintoanappropriateoutlet
    thatisproperlyinstalledandgroundedinac-
    cordancewithalllocalcodesandordinances.
    Warning!
    Improperconnectionoftheequipment-
    groundingconductorcanresultinariskof
    electricshock.Checkwithaqualifiedelectri-

    Overflowguardfunction
    Ifthemachine’swaterlevelrisesabovethe
    normallevel,theoverflowguardfunctionbe-
    ginstopumpwateroutandshutsoffthewater
    intake.Ifthewaterlevelhasnotdropped
    within60seconds,theprogramisterminated.
    Transport/Winterstorage
    Ifthemachineistobetransportedorstored
    inunheatedpremiseswherethetemperature
    canfallbelowfreezing,doasfollows:
    •Emptythefilteranddrainpump(seethe
    "CareandCleaning"chapter).
    •Shutoffthewatertothewashingmachine,
    loosenthesupplyhosetotheintakevalve,
    andletthewaterrunoutfromthevalveand
    hose.
    •Afteremptyingthepump,asmallamount
    ofwatermayremaininthemachine.This
    doesnotaffectqualityordamagethema-
    chine.
    Disposal
    Whenthemachinehasreachedtheendof
    itsservicelifeandistobedisposedof,it
    shouldimmediatelybemadeunusableby
    removingthedoortothewashingcompart-
    ment.Contactyourlocalauthoritiesforinfor-
    mationaboutwhereyourmachineshouldbe
    disposedofandrecycledintheproperway.

    somedetergentresidueleftinsidethema-

    •Iflaundrydetergentgetsinsomeone’s
    eyes,rinsethemwithplentyofwaterforat
    least15minutes.
    Child-safeStart
    YoucanactivatetheChild-safeStartoption
    topreventchildrenfromstartingthemachine.
    YoucandeactivatetheChild-safeStartoption
    bypressingtheStart/StopandDoorOpening
    (keysymbol)buttonsatthesametime.The
    Child-safeStartoptionwillbetemporarily
    deactivatedforthreeminutes.
    1.Presstheupordownarrowbuttonuntil
    Child-safeStartappearsinthemiddleof
    thedisplay.
    2.Presstheprogramselectoragain(thebig
