Power Mac G5 (Late 2005) Take Apart — PCI Divider 1 Remove the processor heatsink cable from the clip on the PCI divider. Remove the three black PCI divider mounting screws. Lift the PCI divider out of the enclosure. Replacement Note: Align the PCI divider on the logic board by placing it over the runway card connector. Power Mac G5 (Late 2005) Take Apart — Media Bay Fan 2 Media Bay Fan Tools The only tool required for this procedure is a short-handled or right-angle Phillips #2 screwdriver. Preliminary Steps Before you begin, open the computer, lay it on its side with the access side facing up, and remove the following: Front inlet fan assembly All graphics and PCI Express cards PCI card guide Speaker/fan assembly Heatsink cover PCI divider Part Location • • • • • •

Power Mac G5 (Late 2005) Take Apart — Media Bay Fan 3 Procedure Disconnect the media bay fan cable from the logic board. Remove the two media bay fan mounting screws. Rotate the fan counterclockwise. Replacement Note: If you are replacing the processor inlet frame with a new inlet frame on the Power Mac G5 (Late 2005 Dual 2.0 GHz/Dual 2.3 GHz) computer, check the replacement parts box for an enclosed label. (Four long screws mount the upper platform and two short screws mount the power supply terminal on the level below.) Insert a long-handled 4 mm ballhead hex driver into the two holes on the top of the heatsink and loosen (but do not remove) the two captive screws. 1. 2.
