www.aleratec.com 26 Using the USB Duplicator Main Menu 6.1 Do Format This function has various formatting subfunctions. 1. Load the flash drives into the USB Duplicator. Use the UP or DOWN arrow to scroll through the menu until Utility is displayed on the LCD screen. Press the OK button to enter this menu. 2. Use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to scroll to the Do Format screen. Press the OK button to access the various subfunctions. 6.1.1 Auto Format This function is used to format drives with the duplicator. If the drive is less than 2GB the duplicator will format FAT16. If the drive is larger capacity than 2GB then the duplicator will format FAT32. 1. Load the flash drives into the USB Duplicator. Use the UP or DOWN arrow to scroll through the menu until “Auto Format” is displayed on the LCD screen. Press the OK button to initiate the Auto Format process. www.aleratec.com 28 Using the USB Duplicator Main Menu 6.1.2 Fat 16 Format This function is used to format drives with the duplicator. If the original format is FAT, then the format operation will not change the format, but will write over any data on the flash drive. If the format is not FAT (e.g. NTFS, Linux, or FAT multi-partition) the controller will check the capacity of the flash drive. If the capacity is greater than 2GB, it will automatically use FAT 32 format. If the capacity is less than 2GB, it will use FAT 16. 1. To perform a FAT 16 Format, scroll to “FAT 16 Format” and the following screen will be displayed. 2. Press the OK button once again to confirm the FAT 16 Format. The process will now begin. 3. To set the FAT 16 Cluster Size, scroll to “Set FAT 16 Cluster Size”. Press OK again to select the desired cluster size, for example 4KB. After your selection has been made, press OK to confirm size. 2. Press the UP arrow twice to scroll up to FAT 16 Format and press OK. 3. Press the OK button once again to confirm the FAT 16 Format. The process will now begin. 4. The following screen will be displayed during the erase process. 5. When the process is finished, the following screen will be shown . To set the FAT 32 Cluster Size, scroll to “Set FAT 32 Cluster Size”. Press OK again to select the desired cluster size, for example 4KB. After your selection has been made, press OK to confirm size. 2. Press the UP arrow twice to scroll up to FAT 32 Format and press OK. 3. Press the OK button once again to confirm the FAT 32 Format. www.aleratec.com 32 Using the USB Duplicator Main Menu 6.2 System Update This function is used to update your duplicators firmware. 1. Load the flash drives into the USB Duplicator. Use the UP or DOWN arrow to scroll through the menu until Utility is displayed on the LCD screen. Press the OK button to enter this menu. 2. Use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to scroll to the System Update screen. Press the OK button to update the duplicator’s firmware. 3. www.aleratec.com 34 Using the USB Duplicator 7.1 Startup Menu Startup Menu allows you to select which function displays first when the USB Duplicator is turned on. This function selects the menu item that will be the first item shown on the display when you turn on the duplicator. The default setting is Copy. 1. Use the UP or DOWN arrow to scroll through the menu until Setup is displayed on the LCD screen. Press OK. 2. Use the UP or Down arrow to scroll through the Setup options until Startup Menu is displayed on the LCD screen. Press OK. 3. Scroll up or down to select the desired function to display first when the USB Duplicator is turned on, for example the “Copy” function. Press OK to confirm your setting. USB Duplicator 7.
