41 Q: HOW CAN I IMPROVE THE TOOL’S REPEATABILITY? Generally speaking, slowing the tool down will improve its repeatability. Reducing the RPM FREE% value will give the tool more time to react as it approaches the target torque. Reducing the DOWNSHIFT TQ and/or RPM DOWN% may als o have the same effect. 42 APPENDIX D: FAQ’S Q: ANGLE MEASUREMEN T SEEMS TOO HIGH. The controller starts to measure angle of rotation during the rundown when THOLD (threshold torque) is reached. If the thre shold torque setting is below the prevailing torque of the joint, the tool will start m easuring angle before the fastener is seated, resulting in a higher angle r eading than anticipated.
