ENGLISH 13ASSEMBLING AND PREPARING Using the Joystick Button You can operate the TV by pressing the button or moving the joystick lef\ t, right, up, or down. Basic functions Power OnWhen the TV is turned off, place your finger on the joystick button and \ press it once and release it. Power OffWhen the TV is turned on, place your finger on the joystick button and p\ ress it once for a few seconds and release it. Volume ControlIf you place your finger over the joystick button and move it left or ri\ ght, you can adjust the volume level you want. Channels ControlIf you place your finger over the joystick button and move it up or down\ , you can scrolls through the saved channels you want. y When your finger over the joystick button and push it up, down, left, or\ right, be careful not to press the joystick button. If you press the joystick button first, you may not be able to adjust the volum\ e level and/or scroll through saved channels. NOTE Adjusting the menu When the TV is turned on, press the joystick button one time. You can adjust the Menu items(, , )moving the joystick button left or right. TV Off Turns the power off. closeClears on-screen displays and returns to TV viewing. InputChanges the input source.
ENGLISH 14ASSEMBLING AND PREPARING Lifting and Moving the TV When moving or lifting the TV, read the following to prevent the TV from being scratched or damaged and for safe transportation regardless of its type and size. y Avoid touching the screen at all times, as this may result in damage to the screen. y Do not place the product on the floor with its front facing down. Doing so may result in damage to the screen. CAUTION yIt is recommended to move the TV in the box or packing material that the TV originally came in. yBefore moving or lifting the TV, disconnect the power cord and all cables. yWhen holding the TV, the screen should face away from you to avoid damage. yHold the top and bottom of the TV frame firmly. Make sure not to hold the transparent part, speaker, or speaker grill area. Setting Up the TV Attaching the AV Cover Please assemble the AV cover as shown in the figure. AV cover yWhen transporting a large TV, there should be at least 2 people. yWhen transporting the TV by hand, hold the TV as shown in the following illustration. yWhen transporting the TV, do not expose the TV to jolts or excessive vibration. yWhen transporting the TV, keep the TV upright; never turn the TV on its side or tilt towards the left or right. yDo not apply excessive pressure to cause flexing / bending of frame chassis as it may damage screen. yBe sure to keep your TV upright instead of laying or tilting it while moving the TV. yWhen handling the TV, be careful not to damage the protruding joystick button. ENGLISH 15ASSEMBLING AND PREPARING Mounting on a Table 1 Lift and tilt the TV into its upright position on a table. - Leave a 10 cm (4 inch) (minimum) space from the wall for proper ventilation. 10 cm 10 cm 10 cm 10 cm (4 inches) 10 cm 10 cm 10 cm 10 cm 2 Connect the power cord to a wall outlet. yDo not place the TV near or on sources of heat, as this may result in fire or other damage. CAUTION Securing the TV to a wall (optional) 1 Insert and tighten the eye-bolts, or TV brackets and bolts on the back of the TV. - If there are bolts inserted at the eye-bolts position, remove the bolts first. 2 Mount the wall brackets with the bolts to the wall. Match the location of the wall bracket and the eye-bolts on the rear of the TV. 3 Connect the eye-bolts and wall brackets tightly with a sturdy rope or cable. Make sure to keep the rope parallel to the flat surface. y Make sure that children do not climb on or hang on the TV. CAUTION y Use a platform or cabinet that is strong and large enough to support the TV securely. y Brackets, bolts, and ropes are optional. You can obtain additional accessories from your local dealer. NOTE
ENGLISH 16ASSEMBLING AND PREPARING Tidying Cables Gather and bind the cables with the cable holder. yDo not move the TV by holding the cable management and cable band, as the cable holders may break, and injuries and damage to the TV may occur. CAUTION Cable HolderCable Holder (For 55EC9300) (For 77EC9800) Cable Holder Mounting on a Wall An optional wall mount can be used with your LG Television. Consult with your local dealer for a wall mount that supports the VESA standard used by your TV model. Carefully attach the wall mount bracket at the rear of the TV. Install the wall mount bracket on a solid wall perpendicular to the floor. If you are attaching the TV to other building materials, please contact qualified personnel to install the wall mount. Detailed instructions will be included with the wall mount. We recommend that you use an LG brand wall mount. When you do not use LG’s wall mount bracket, please use wall mount bracket which the distance to the wall is adequately secured for seamless connectivity to external devices. 10 cm 10 cm 10 cm 10 cm (4 inches) Make sure to use screws and wall mounts that meet the VESA standard. Otherwise electric shock may occur. yIf you install the TV on a ceiling or slanted wall, it may fall and result in severe injury. Use an authorized LG wall mount and contact the local dealer or qualified personnel. yDo not over tighten the screws as this may cause damage to the TV and void your warranty. yUse the screws and wall mounts that meet the VESA standard. Any damages or injuries by misuse or using an improper accessory are not covered by the warranty. CAUTION yUse the screws that are listed on the VESA standard screw specifications. yThe wall mount kit includes an installation manual and necessary parts. yThe wall mount bracket is optional. You can obtain additional accessories from your local dealer. yThe length of screws may differ depending upon the wall mount. Make sure to use the proper length. yFor more information, refer to the manual supplied with the wall mount. yYou will need at least two people to remove the stand and one more to separate the stand from the TV so it doesn’t fall when the screws are removed. yWhen removing a stand, lay the TV on its back on a padded table or surface. Do not put the TV face (front) down on the table. (If they are not fastened securely enough, the TV may tilt forward after being installed.) yDo not tighten the screws with too much force; otherwise they may be damaged and come loose later. CAUTION yFor more information about mounting on a wall, refer to the OSW100 manual. yWhen mounting the TV on a table, attach the stand by performing the stand removal in reverse. ENGLISH 20ASSEMBLING AND PREPARING Using Built-in Camera (For 77EC9800) You can make a Skype video call or use the motion recognition function using the built-in camera of the TV. This TV does not support the use of an external camera. Preparing Built-in Camera 1 Pull up the built-in camera at the back of the TV. Slide y Remove the protective film before using the built-in camera. NOTE 2 You can adjust the angle of the camera with the angle adjustment lever on the back of the built-in camera (within 5 degrees vertically). 7 5 7 5 LeverLens [Side View] yBefore using the built-in camera, you must recognize the fact that you are legally responsible for the use or misuse of the camera by the relevant national laws including the criminal law. yThe relevant laws include the Personal Information Protection law which regulates the processing and transferring of personal information and the law which regulates the monitoring by camera in a workplace and other places. yWhen using the built-in camera, the user must gain consent from the persons being observed. Please avoid using the camera in the following manner. We suggest avoiding the following situations: (1) Using the camera in areas where the use of camera is generally prohibited such as restroom, locker room, fitting room, and security area. (2) Using the camera while causing the infringement of privacy. (3) Using the camera while causing the violation of the relevant regulations or laws. NOTE
