WARNING Use only the designated quality brake fluid: Other brake fluids may deteriorate the rubber seals, causing leakage and poor brake performance. 4 - 27 CHASFRONT AND REAR BRAKES INSTALLING THE REAR BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER 1.Install: Copper washers 1 Brake hose 2 Union bolt 3 CAUTION: When installing the brake hose onto the brake master cylinder, make sure the brake pipe touches the projection a as shown. WARNING Proper brake hose routing is essential to insure safe machine operation. 4 - 28 CHAS 3.Air bleed: Brake system Refer to “BLEEDING THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM” in CHAPTER 3. 4.Check: Brake fluid level Brake fluid level is below the “LOWER” level line → Add the recommended brake fluid to the proper level. 4 - 34 CHASFRONT AND REAR BRAKES DISASSEMBLING THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKE CALIPER 1.Remove: Brake caliper piston Dust seal 1 Caliper piston seal 2 *********************************************** Removal steps: Blow compressed air into the hose joint opening to force out the caliper piston from the brake caliper body. WARNING Never try to pry out the caliper piston. Cover the caliper piston with a rag. Be careful not to get injured when the piston is expelled from the master cylinder. Remove the...

4 - 35 CHASFRONT AND REAR BRAKES 1.Check: Brake caliper piston 1 Scratches/rust/wear → Replace the brake caliper assembly. Brake caliper cylinder 2 Wear/scratches → Replace the brake caliper assembly. Brake caliper body 3 Cracks/damage → Replace. Brake fluid delivery passage (brake caliper body) Blockage → Blow out with compressed air. WARNING Replace the caliper piston seal and dust seal whenever the brake caliper is disas- sembled.
