    Introduction 
    Thank you for purchasing the ViviCam 8018 8.1 Mega-P i x e l Digital Cam era. Everything you need to t a k e 
    quality digital photos and videos is included with your cam era. 
    Your  digital  camera  can also b e   u s e d   a s  a  rem ovable  disk.  It  enriches  your  life. Vivitar  makes  capturing  those 
    special m oments so easy. 
    Please read this manual carefully first in order to get the most out of your digital cam era.

    To be able to download photos to your PC, you will need the following m inimum  configuration: 
     Pentium I I I  process or above with Windows X P 
     128 M B   R A M ,  with 150M B  o f  free disk space 
     Available USB interface 
     CD-ROM  Drive 
     1024 x 768 Recommended screen resolution  
     16-bit color or higher display adaptor 
     
    Computer System Requirements for Windows Vista 
    To be able to download photos to your PC your will need the following m inimum  configuration:

     800MHz processor and 512 MB of system m emory 
     20GB hard driver with at least 15GB of available space 
     Support for Super VGA graphics

    Note: This hardware is plug and play com patible when used on a Mac, however, the included software can be

    Preparing Your Camera for Use 
    Batter y Installation 
    Your camera requires 3 AAA batteries. T o   insert the batteries i n t o   t h e   c a m e r a : 
    1. Slide and open the battery com partm ent on the side of the camera. 
    2. Please m ake sure that the batteries are inserted with the correct polarity facing up. 
     
     
    3. Close t h e  battery door. 
    Wh e n the “Low  Battery” m e s s a g e  is displayed o n   t he  LCD,  t h i s indicates that your  camera  has a n  insu f f i c i e n t  
    battery power l e v el and will be autom atically powered o f f.   Yo u  need to download the sam ple photo to your PC.    
    If there is no SD card inserted before it powers off the photo will be lost. 
    Note: 
    1. If you don’t intend to use your camera for an extended period of time, please rem ove the batteries to 
    avoid battery leakage and corrosion. 
    2. Please don’t rem ove the batteries or power off your cam era before downloading the test photo when 
    you  have  not  inserted  an  SD  card.  The  test  im ages  will  be  lost  forever  if  they  are  not  downloaded

    before the cam era is shut down or powered off. 
    3. Do not mix old and new batteries. 
    4. We  recommend  you  use  Alkaline  batteries.  Do not  mix  alkaline,  standard  (carbon-zinc),  or 
    rechargeable (nickel-cadmium  metal hydride) batteries. 
    5. In order to conserve battery power if the camera is on but not in use for 60s it will automatically shut 
    off. In this case only the sam ple images will be lost. 
     
    Installing SD Memory Card 
    Your  camera  has  a  m em ory  card  slot  that  enables  you  to  insert  any “SD” compatible  mem ory  card. Adding  a 
    m emory  card  will  allow  you  to  increase  the  capacity  of  your  cam era  before  you  have  to  transfer test photo t o  
    your P C .   I n s t a l l the SD m emory card as below: 
    1. Locate the Mem ory Card slot. 
    2. Insert the Mem ory card into the slot in the correct direction. (see t h e  sketch below) 
     
    3. Push the card in until you feel it “click” into position. The top of the card should be flushed with the surface

    of the camera. An icon  will appear on the LCD screen after you turn on your cam era. 
    4. Once the external  m emory  card  is  inserted  into the  camera  all  the  im ages taken with  the  camera will be 
    stored on the card. 
    Note:  
    1. Lim ited internal m em ory is provided for test im ages. T h e   i m a g e  w i l l be  deleted when  camera  power is 
    turned off. Please download the im ages before power off .SD m emory card is required for normal use. 
    2. An  external  m em ory  card  is  required  for  norm al  use. Your  cam era  supports any  com patible  SD  m emory 
    card (up to 8GB). 
    3. If  there i s   a photo in  the  internal  m emory  when  you  insert  the  card into  your  camera, a   “Move  to  card” 
    m essage  will  appear  on  the  LCD  with Yes  or  No  options. On selecting  ‘Yes’ the photo will  now  be  copied 
    to your card.  
    4. Form atting will delete all data on the SD mem ory card including protected data. 
    5. Don’t rem ove the SD card during form atting as this may dam age the card and render it unusable. 
    6. W hen  your  card  is full,  download the m edia  on the  SD  card to  your PC and  delete  the  photos  and  videos 
    from  it in order to continue using your cam era
