10 Note: A “Low Power” message will appear on the LCD screen, if you select the flash function when the battery power is insufficient. To continue using the camera with the flash, please install new batteries. Digital Zoom function You can magnify your subject using the digital zoom. Use the T and W buttons to adjust the zoom. 1. Press the T button to zoom in on your subject. 2. Press the W button to zoom back out. Self Timer You can include yourself in a photo by using the Self Timer feature to delay the time between your pressing the shutter and when the photo is actually taken. It is recommended that you use a tripod when you use the self-timer. 1. Press the Menu button. 2. Press the Up/Down button and select MODE. 3. Press the Shutter button. 4. Press the Up/Down button and select SELF. 5. Press the Shutter button again to confirm. An icon will appear on the top left corner of the LCD. 6. Press the Shutter button to begin taking the photo. Your camera will emit beeps and after a count-down of 10 seconds the photo will be taken.
11 Change Image Resolution Please insert a SD memory card first for image resolution changing. 1. Press the Menu button. 2. Press the Up/Down button to select the RESOLUTION option. 3. Press the Shutter button. 4. Press the Up/Down button to select one of the following resolutions 5M/3M/2M/VGA. 5. Press the Shutter button again to confirm your selection. 6. The corresponding icon will appear on the LCD screen. Note: 1. Different image resolutions will affect the photo quality. High resolution photos will be of better picture quality and therefore will take up more camera memory capacity than lower resolution photos. 2. In order to change the image resolution setting to take high resolution photos, an SD memory card needs to be inserted. Frequency Settings Change the frequency settings for the area you are located. Generally speaking, 60HZ is for the U.S. and 50HZ for Europe and Japan. The default setting is 60HZ. 1. Press the Menu button.
12 2. Press the Up/Down button to select the FREQUENCY option. 3. Press the Shutter button. 4. Press the Up/Down button to select 50HZ or 60HZ. 5. Press the Shutter button to confirm. Anti-shake function Your Digital Camera has a function that prevents photos coming out blurry as a result of trembling or shaking while the photo is being taken. This function allows you to take good quality photos without the use of a tripod. To set this function: 1. Press the Menu button. 2. Press the Up/Down button and select the Anti-shake option. 3. Press the Shutter button. 4. Use the Up/Down button to select either: “Yes” to turn the anti-shake on. “No” to leave or turn the anti-shake off. 5. Press the Shutter button to confirm. De Default Setting You can restore your camera to the original factory settings.
13 1. Press the Menu button. 2. Press the Up/Down button and select Default. 3. Press the Shutter button. 4. Press the Up/Down button to select “Yes” or “No”. 5. Press the Shutter button to confirm. Video Mode The Video Mode allows you to shoot high quality movies. In order to use this mode an SD card needs to be inserted into the camera to expand the camera’s capacity. 1. Insert a compatible SD memory card. 2. Power on your camera. 3. Press the Menu button. 4. Press the Up/Down button to select MODE. 5. Press the Shutter button. 6. Press the Up/Down button again to select the AVI option. 7. Press the Shutter button again to confirm. An icon will show on the upper left corner of the LCD. 8. Press the Shutter button to start shooting the video. The elapsed time will appear on the bottom right of the LCD. For the duration of the recording the LED indicator light will continue to flicker. 9. Press the Shutter button to stop the recording. The video will be saved as an AVI file on the memory card.
14 Note: 1. “Insert an SD Memory Card” will appear on the LCD screen when you press the shutter button where no SD memory was previously inserted. 2. You can playback the AVI file by using Quick Time or Windows Media Player once it has been downloaded to your computer. In order to change the image resolution setting to take high resolution photos, an SD memory card needs to be inserted.
15 Playback Mode You can preview your photos in this mode. 1. Power on your camera. 2. Press the Down button to enter the Playback Mode. 3. An icon will appear on the upper left corner of the LCD. Press the Shutter button to exit to the standby mode. Note: “NO FILE” will appear on the LCD when there is no photos/videos in your camera. You can press the Shutter button to exit to the camera mode. Preview photos Press the Up/Down button to select and view your photos and videos. “JPG” will appear on the LCD if you selected a photo. “AVI” will appear on the LCD when you select an AVI file. Playback AVI files 1. Select an AVI file in your SD memory card by pressing the Up/Down button. 2. Press the Menu button. 3. Press the Up/Down button to select the Play option. 4. Press the Shutter button to start playing. 5. Press the Shutter button again to stop playing.
16 Delete photo and/or videos You may delete images directly from the memory card on your camera. The images can only be deleted while in the playback mode. 1. In playback mode, press the Menu button. 2. Press the Up/Down button to select one of the following options: “Delete One” in order to delete the current file selected. “Delete All” to delete all the files in your camera. 3. Press the Shutter button. 4. Press the Up/Down button to select either “Yes” or “No”. 5. Press the Shutter button again to confirm your choice. If you choose “Yes” the currect file is deleted forever. This action is irreversible. Format This function will delete all of the files in your camera’s memory (internal memory or SD memory card, depending on the device selection). Please be certain that you wish to use this function: 1. Press the Menu button. 2. Press the Up/Down button to select the Format option. 3. Press the Menu button. 4. Press the Up/Down button to select either “Yes” or “No”. 5. Press the Shutter button again to confirm your selection. 6. A “Format OK” message will appear on the LCD once the format has completed.
17 Print your photos Your camera supports the PictBridge printing function that allows you to print photos any time directly from the camera’s memory to a connected printer. 1. In the playback mode press the Up/Down button to select a photo you want to print out. 2. Press the Menu button. 3. Press the Up/Down button to select the Print option. 4. Press the Menu button. 5. Press the Up/Down button and select “Yes”. 6. Press the Menu button again. A “Please connect your DSC to printer” message will appear on the LCD. 7. Connect your camera to any PictBridge compatible printer to continue with the printing. 8. Press the “Shutter” button to start printing the selected photo.
18 Install the Vivitar Experience Image Manager Software Warning: Do not plug your camera into the computer until the software installation is complete. You must be connected to the internet to install and run the Vivitar Experience Image Manager software. 1. Insert the installation CD into your CD-ROM drive. The installation screen should automatically open. 2. On PC: The Vivitar Experience Image Manager Installer window appears. If the window does not appear, open the application’s CD/DVD drive and click on “Setup.exe” to launch the installer. 3. On Macintosh: Click the icon to install the Vivitar Experience Image Manager.

If you do not have internet access at the time of inserting the CD-ROM, connect to the internet and then click the “Install Vivitar Experience Image Manager” button to begin the installation Note: If you do not have internet access, you can still download media from the camera. Click the “How to transfer photos and videos from my camera to my computer” button for instructions. 5. If you have internet access, the “Choose your language” window opens, choose your language and click “Next” to open the next window. 6. Select your camera model from the list and click “Next” to open the next window.
