ViewSonic PJ755D 19 Image-II Keystone (Keystone Correction) Adjust image distortion caused by tilting projector. (±16 degrees) Press OK to adjust * Vertical keystone: Press the or to adjust image distortion ver- tically and makes a squarer image. * Horizontal keystone: Press the or to adjust image distortion horizontally and makes a squarer image. At higher temperature, the screen looks colder; at lower temperature, the screen looks warmer. Display Format Use this function to choose your desired aspect ratio. * Windows: The input source will be compacte d in the center with scaling. * 4:3: The input source will be scaled to fit the projection screen. * 16:9: The input source will be scaled to fit the width of the screen. * Letterbox: Letterbox mode zooms a letterboxed image intended for 4:3 display to full screen wide. Projection * Front-Desktop The factory default setting. * Rear-Desktop When you select this function, the projector re verses the image so you can project behind a translucent screen. * Front-Ceiling When you select this function , the projector turns the image upside down for ceiling-mounted projection. * Rear-Ceiling When you select this function , the projector reverses and turns the image upside down at same time. The message will show up when th e lamp reaches 1500 hours at normal mode. See “Replacing the Lamp” for more details. * Lamp Hours: Display the cumulative lamp operating time. * Lamp Reset: Reset the lamp life hour after replacing a new lamp. * ECO Mode: Choose On to di m the projector lamp which will lower power consumption and extend the lamp life by up to 130%. Choose “Off” to return normal mode. * Auto Power Off: Sets the inte rval of power-off of the system, if there is no signal input. (In minutes) Source Lock When source lock is turned off, the projector will s earch for other signals if the current input signal is lost. When source lock is turned on, it will search specified connection port. Display Mode There are many factory presets optimized for various types of images. * PC: For computer or notebook. * Movie: For home theater. * Game: For game. * sRGB: For PC standard color. * Dynamic: For all these four modes as above and get more contrast and color saturation. * User: Memorize userís settings. PIP PIP Choose “On” to select on the PIP screen. Position Choose the PIP screen position on the display screen. Source Change Choose the input source of the projector on the PIP screen. Swap Choose On to swap main screen and PIP screen each other. Note: Group 1): S-Video/Composite Video/Component-i. Group 2): Digital video/Component-p/HDTV/PC signals. * PIP Image can be enabled only when main source is group 1 and PIP source is group 2 OR main source is group 2 and PIP source is group 1. Me aning, not for the signals within the same group. * When swapping the main and PIP displays, the smallest screen size of PIP display will be vary depending on different combinations of signal sources for PIP. * The PIP may not support for so me high resolution signals and blue image will be displayed. * When main source and PIP source come from either DVI-I or D-SUB15 the two connectors at same time, PIP source can not be displayed even one is group 1 and the other is group 2.
ViewSonic PJ755D 22 Appendices Troubleshooting If you experience trouble with the projector, refer to the following information. If the problem persists, please con- tact your local reseller or service center. Problem: No image appears on screen. Ensure all the cables and power connections are correctly and secu rely connected as described in the “Installation section. * Ensure the pins of connectors are not crooked or broken. * Check if the projection lamp has been securely installed. Please refer to the Replacing the lamp section. * Make sure you have removed the lens cap and the projector is switched on. * Press A/V Mute button to maker sure the image has not been turned off temporarily. Problem: Partial, scrolling or incorrectly displayed image. * Press the “Sync” button on the Remote Control or Press the “Re-Sync” button on the Control Panel. * If you use a PC: If the resolution of your computer is higher than 1024 x 768. Follow the steps outlined below to reset the resolution. For Windows 3.x: 1 . In the Windows Program Manager, click the “Windows Setup” icon in the Main group. 2 . Verify that your display resolution setting is less than or equal to 1024 x 768. For Windows 95,98,2000,XP: 1 . Open “My Computer” icon, the “Control Panel” fold er, and then double click on the “Display” icon. 2 . Select the “Setting” tab. 3 . In the “Desktop Area” you will fi nd the resolution setting. Verify that the resolution setting is less than or equal to 1024 x 768 resolution. If the projector is still not projecting the whole image, you will also need to change the monitor display you are using. Refer to the following steps. 4 . Follow the above steps 1-2. Click on the “Advanced Properties” button. 5 . Select the “Change” button under the “Monitor” tab. 6 . Click on “Show all devices”. Then select “St andard monitor types” under the “Manufacturers” box; choose the resolution mode you need under the “Models” box. 7 . Verify that the resolution setting of the monitor display is less than or equal to 1024 x 768. * If you are using a Notebook PC: 1 . You are required to implement the above st eps of resolution setting of the computer first. 2 .Switch the Notebook PC display to the “e xternal display only” or “CRT only” mode. * If you experience difficulty in changing resolu tions or your monitor freezes, restart all the equipment and the projector. Problem: The screen of the Notebook or Power Book computer is not displaying your presentation. * If you are using a Notebook PC: Some Notebook PCs may deactivate their screens w hen a second display device is in use. Refer to your computerís documentation for information on how to reactivate the monitor display. * If you are using an Apple PowerBook: In Control Panels, open the PowerBook Display to select Video Mirroring “On”.
ViewSonic PJ755D 23 Problem: Image is unstable or flickering * Use “Phase” to correct it. Refer to page 17. * Change the monitor color setting from your computer. Problem: Image has vertical flickering bar * Use “Frequency” to make an adjustment. Refer to page 17 . * Check and reconfigure the display mode of your graphic card to make it compatible with the product. Refer to page 26. Problem: Image is out of focus * Adjusts the Focus Ring on the projector lens. Refer to page 14. * Make Sure the projection screen is between the required distance 3.9 to 32.8 feet (1.2 to 10.0 meters) from the projector. Problem: The image is stretched when displaying 16:9 DVD. The projector automatically detects 16:9 DVD and adju sts the aspect ratio by digitizing to full screen with 4:3 default setting. If the image is still stretc hed, you will also need to adjust the aspe ct ratio by referring to the following: * Please select 4:3 aspect ratio type on your DVD player if you are playing a 16:9 DVD. * If you can’t select 4:3 aspect ratio type on y our DVD player, please select 4:3 aspect ratio in the on screen menu. Problem: Image is reversed. * Select “Settings” from the OSD and ad just the projection direction. See page 20. Problem: Lamp burns out or makes a popping sound * When the lamp reaches its e nd of life, it will burn out and may make a loud popping sound. If this happens, the projector will not turn on until th e lamp module has been replaced. To replace the lamp, follow the procedures in the “Replacing the Lamp”. See page 25. ViewSonic PJ755D 25 Replacing the lamp The projector will detect the lamp life itself. It will show you a warning message “Lamp life exceed” When you see this message, change the lamp as soon as possible. Make sure the projector has been cooled down for at least 30 minutes before changing the lamp. Lamp Changing Procedure: 1 . Switch off the power to the projector by pressing the Power button. 2 . Allow the projector to cool down at least 30 minutes. 3 . Disconnect the power cord. 4 . Push up and Remove the cover. 5 . Remove the 3 screws from the lamp module. 6 . Pull out the lamp module. 7 . To replace the lamp module, reverse the previous steps. Wa r n i n g :Lamp compartment is hot! Allow it to cool down before changing lamp! Wa r n i n g : To reduce the risk of personal injury, do not drop the lamp module or touch the lamp bulb. The bulb may shatter and cause injury if it is dropped. 12 3

If a product proves to be defec tive in material or workman- ship during the wa rranty period, ViewSonic will at its sole option repair or replace the product with a like product. Replacement product or parts may include remanufac- tured or refurbished parts or components. How long the warranty is effective: North and South America: Th ree (3) years warranty for all parts excluding the lamp, three (3) years for labor, and one (I) year for the original lamp from the date of the first consumer purchase.
