CTCSS/CDCSS Operation
Your scanner is equipped with a Continuous Tone
Controlled Squelch System (CTCSS) and Continuous
Digital Controlled Squelch System (CDCSS) which allow
squelch to open only when the tone you have programmed
with a specific frequency is received along with a
transmission. When using CTCSS or CDCSS, consider the
following:
Your Scanner Scan Speed becomes slow while
Subaudible Tone function is activated.
You cannot enter CTCSS and CDCSS tones in
the AM Air Band.

Note:Subaudible tone search mode will be locked out for
channels that have been previously programmed for
subaudible tone. To perform a new subaudible tone search for
a previously programmed channel, re-program the frequency
for the channel first, and then enter subaudible tone search
mode. This is intended to prevent inadvertent reprogramming
of previously programmed channels.

tones are checked if the transmission is long enough.

If you want to program tones for several frequencies during
your search, follow these steps:
After you program a frequency and a CTCSS
tone or CDCSS tone into a channel, the Search
Mode is changed to Search Hold Mode. To
activate the Search Mode press
/BAND.
If you decide to cancel the CTCSS Tone Search
Mode or CDCSS Tone Search Mode while you
are searching for frequencies, press and hold
until you hear two short beeps and the
CTCSS
indicator orDCSindicator turns off.
