Setting the Squelch To set the squelch, you must be in the Manual mode, and you should not be receiving a signal on your scanner. 1. Press muntil you do not hear a signal. 2. Adjust VOLUMEto a comfortable listening level. 3. Think of the Squelch Control as a gate. Turn SQUELCHfully counter-clockwise. Programming TheBC895XLThas 300 memory channels, each of which can be programmed to store one frequency. The channels are divided into ten 30-channel banks, useful for storing similar frequencies in order to maintain faster scanning cycles. Each time you store a frequency, the list of scanning frequencies in the bank is automatically sorted by frequency number. This unique Auto Sort feature enables faster scanning.
