In this manual, we use the following conventions:

This is not a comprehensive explanation of the mean-
ing and functions of all of the controls. These are 
described more comprehensively in other parts of the 
manual, but this section provides a brief reminder of 
the functions provided by these controls.

and push again to turn the unit off.

MOPEN/CLOSE key Opens and closes the 
disc tray.
NDISPLAY key Changes the time display for 
the disc recording and playback.
OFINALIZE key Used when finalizing record-
able discs.
PERASE key Used when erasing data from 
CD-RW discs.
QSYNC REC key Turns synchronized record-
ing of the disc recorder on and off.
RMENU key Repeated presses of this key cycle 
through the different menu options.

gDIGITAL COAXIAL (INPUT and 
OUTPUT) jacks 
These RCA jacks accept 
(
INPUT) and transmit (OUTPUT) SPDIF digital 
audio data to and from the disc recorder.
Digital audio data received can be at 32 kHz, 
44.1 kHz  and  48 kHz.
hDIGITAL OPTICAL (INPUT and 
OUTPUT) jacks 
These TOSLINK-compatible 
connectors accept (
INPUT) and transmit (OUTPUT) 
SPDIF digital audio data to and from the disc

EFADER key Used to perform automated 
fade-in and fade-out when recording to disc. The 
time is set using menu items.
FPLAY MODE key Allows the selection of 
either normal, single, programmed or random play-
back.
GINTRO CHECK Allows the first 10 seconds 
of every track on a disc to be played before automati-
cally moving on to the next track to be played.
HREPEAT key Enables or disables repeat

Note the following when loading tapes:
1Use your finger or a pencil to turn the cas-
settes hub and take up any slack tape.
NOTE
Avoid touching the tape. Fingerprints attract dust and 
dirt.
2Press the EJECT key to open the cassette 
compartment door.
3Load the cassette tape with its open edge fac-
ing down.
4Gently close the compartment door.
NOTE*Notes:
The cassette holder cannot be opened during recording 
or playback.

Recording operations
NOTECAUTION
Recording pre-recorded tapes, records, or other pub-
lished or broadcast material may infringe copyright laws. 
Check before recording.

The dubbing stops when playback reaches the end of 
the CD, or when the tape reaches the end of its run 
(one side in the case of single-sided (u) reverse 
mode, both sides in the j reverse mode), which-
ever comes first.
Note that if the tape is set to auto-reverse, and the last 
item recorded on one side of a tape was not com-
pletely recorded before the tape was reversed, that 
item will be automatically...

Fast forward and rewind
The REW and FFWD keys (and their remote control 
equivalents) act as ordinary fast forward and rewind keys when pressed when the unit is stopped or 
paused.
Search keys
When the unit is playing back, the wind keys men-
tioned above act as Computer-controlled Program 
Search (CPS) keys, moving to the next (or previous) 
recorded item. To locate items correctly, there must
