    SAFETY REGULATIONS
    SYMBOLS
The following symbols are displayed on the ma-
chine in order to remind you about the safety pre-
cautions and attention necessary when using the
    machine.
    The symbols mean:
    Warning!
    Always wear protective glasses.
Read the instruction book carefully be-
    fore using the machine.
Make sure that there is nobody within
the working area of the machine.
    GENERAL
    • Read the instructions carefully. Familiarize
yourself with all the controls and learn how to
    operate the machine properly.
    • Never let children or persons unfamiliar with
these safety regulations use the machine.
    • Do not use the machine while under the influ-
ence of alcohol, drugs or medicines, nor when
    you are tired or sick.
    • Do not use the machine for any job except that
    for which it is intended.
    PREPARATIONS
    • Never cut if other people, particularly children,
or animals are in the vicinity.
    • Use thick shoes and long trousers when cutting.
    • Do not operate the machine in bare feet or when
    wearing sandals.
    • Never remove or in any way alter the guard over
    the trimming line.
    • Always use a trimming line intended for the
    machine.
    • Check the area to be cut thoroughly and remove any stones, pins, steel wire or other objects.
    OPERATION
    • Keep the hands and feet clear of the trimming
line when the machine is running.
    • Do not force the machine. Use at a rate at which
it is able to cut effectively.
    • Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
    • Cut only in daylight or when there is good illu-
    mination.
    • Do not use the trimmer when it is raining or
    when the grass is wet.
    MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
    • When not in use, the machine should be kept in-
doors in a cool, dry place and out of reach of
    children.
    • Do not use any other charging unit than that
    supplied with the machine.
    • Always charge the machine in an upright posi-
    tion.
    • For the sake of safety, replace any worn or dam-
    aged parts.
    ASSEMBLY
    CARRYING HANDLE/HARNESS
Screw the carrying handle (A) firmly into the ma-
chine. Adjust the handle to ensure a comfortable
    working position.
Hook the harness (B) into the hole (fig. 1).
    SAFETY GUARD
Press the guard (C) up onto the motor unit. Then
turn it anti-clockwise until it clicks into place.
The guard has a sharp blade. Use gloves
    to avoid cutting injuries.
    BATTERY
Mount the battery (D) by sliding it up into the
tracks until it clicks into place.
To remove the battery, press in the safety catch.
Then allow the battery to slide out from the tracks.
Spare batteries are available as accessories from
    your distributor.

    WALL ATTACHMENT
Screw the wall attachment (E) into the wall near to
a power socket in a dry and cool place with a con-
    stant temperature (fig. 2, 3).
Then mount the charging unit’s round plug (F) into
    the clamp fastener.
    CHARGING
The battery can either be charged in the machine or
separately. The battery on its own also fits into the
    wall attachment (fig. 4 - 5).
    GENERAL
    1. Always charge the battery in an upright position
(i.e. with the machine or the battery placed in
the wall attachment), in a dry and cool place
with a constant temperature. Not in a damp en-
    vironment.
    2. When the machine is new, the battery produces
somewhat reduced power levels. After approx.
5 charges and discharges, the battery will pro-
    duce full power.
    3. The charging unit must not be exposed to rain.
    4. The charging unit must not be used for charging
other types of machines or batteries.
    5. Make sure that the connection between the bat-
tery and the charging unit is clean.
    6. Connect the charging unit to a 230 V wall sock-
    et.
    7. The charging unit may become warm during
    charging, this is quite normal.
    BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST
    TIME
Your garden trimmer arrives from the factory
only partially charged. Before using it for the
first time, the machine should be charged for a
    period of 36 hours.
    DURING THE CUTTING SEASON
    1. Stop cutting and recharge when the cutting
power begins to fall off. Avoid fully discharging
    the battery.
    2. Always recharge the battery immediately after
    use.
    3. During the cutting season, the machine must al-ways be connected to the charger when not in
    use.
    WINTER STORAGE
    1. Remove the battery from the machine. Charge
the battery approx. 36 hours before winter stor-
age. Then pull the charging unit out of the wall
    socket.
    2. Always store the battery fully charged. The bat-
tery can be stored during the winter with only
one full charge, but we recommend that you re-
charge the battery at least once during the win-
ter to increase the operational life of the battery.
    3. After winter storage, the battery must be re-
charged for approx. 36 hours before usage.
    4. Store the battery in a cool and dry place at a
constant temperature. Not in a damp environ-
    ment.
    OPERATION
    SETTING-UP
For edge trimming, the lower part can be rotated
180°. Loosen the nut (G) and turn (fig. 6).
To ensure a comfortable working position, the ma-
chine can be adjusted to suit the height of the oper-
ator. Loosen the nut (G) and pull out or push in the
tube. The length of the machine can be adjusted
    between 115 – 130 cm.
    TRIMMING
    1. To use the machine, move the safety catch (H)
forward, after which the machine is started by
squeezing the trigger (I) (fig. 6). The machine
stops as soon as the trigger is released.
    2. Make sure that there is no rubbish which could
damage or become entangled in the trimming
line within the area to be trimmed.
    3. Make sure that the trimming line is of the cor-
rect length, see under (FEEDING TRIMMING
    LINE) below.
    4. Angle the machine slightly (10 – 30°) in rela-
    tion to the ground surface.
    5. Do not overload the motor by running the whole
cutting head into the grass. Allow the outer end
of the trimming line to do the work. Do not
press the machine against the ground.

    							19
    ENGLISHGB
    6. The best trimming results are obtained by
swinging the machine in an arc from right to
    left.
    7. If the grass is tall, it is better to trim it in several
    stages.
    8. The operational life of the trimming line will be
considerably shortened by trimming close up
against house foundations, brick walls, etc.
Avoid this by using the extendible fender (J) to
set the right distance (fig. 6).
    9. Do not force the motor unnecessarily when the
battery power begins to fall off as this will
    shorten the battery life.
    FEEDING TRIMMING LINE
Every time the machine is started/stopped, a small
part of trimming line is fed out automatically. The
blade in the safety cover, cuts this line off to the
    right length.
    REPLACING TRIMMER LINE
    1. Press in both the snap locks on the spool cover
    (K) (fig. 7).
    2. Remove the spool cover (fig. 8).
    3. Take the empty spool (L) out of the spool holder
(fig. 9). Roll a new trimming line clockwise
onto the spool (fig. 10). Only use genuine trim-
ming line with a diameter of 1.4 mm.
    4. Insert the end of the trimming line through the
hole in the spool holder (fig. 11).
    5. Place the spool in the spool holder (fig. 12).
Then click the spool cover into place.
Take care not to injure yourself on the
    blade in the safety guard.
    MAINTENANCE
    1. Keep the spool, spool holder, safety guard and
trimming blade free from grass and other mate-
    rials which can stick on.
    2. Each time after use, the space between the spool
holder and the safety guard should be inspected.
Remove any grass which may have become
    wrapped around the motor shaft.
    3. The motor’s air intake (M) must be checked and
cleaned at regular intervals (fig. 6). The ma-
chine must not be rinsed with water.
    SERVICE
To safeguard reliable operation of the machine,
any repairs and guarantee service should be carried
out by an authorized service station.
Always use genuine spare parts and accessories.
Non-genuine spare parts or accessories have
not been inspected or approved by the ma-
    chine’s manufacturer.
The use of non-genuine spare parts or accesso-
ries can affect the function and safety of the ma-
chine, even if they seem to fit the machine. The
manufacturer of the machine accepts no re-
sponsibility for damage caused by such parts or
    accessories.
    ENVIRONMENT
In order to protect the environment, we recom-
mend that the following points are especially com-
    plied with:
    • Do not dispose of used batteries in the refuse
bin. Return them to a battery collection point
    for recycling.
    • When, after many years of service, your ma-
chine needs to be replaced or is no longer re-
quired, we recommend that the machine is
returned to your distributor for recycling.
The manufacturer reserves the right to change the
product without prior notice being given.
