    Using Menu Functions
    Programme SortingChanges the order of analogue channels stored in the TV.
    1Press F/f to select the channel you want to move to a new position, then press 
    .
    2Press F/f to select the new position for the channel, then press  .
    Programme LabelsAssigns a channel name of your choice, up to five letters or numbers. The name 
    appears briefly on the screen when you select the channel. (Names for channels are 
    usually taken automatically from Text (if available).)
    1Press F/f to select the channel you want to name, then press  .
    2Press F/f to select the desired letter or number (“_” for a blank space), then 
    press g.
    If you enter a wrong character
    Press G/g to select the wrong character. Then, press F/f to select the correct 
    character.
    3Repeat step 2 until you finish entering the name.
    4Press   to exit the labeling procedure.
    Intelligent Picture On with IndicatorAutomatically reduces the picture noise. The signal level bar 
    is displayed when the channel is changed or the display is 
    changed from an input screen to a TV programme.
    OnAutomatically reduces the picture noise.
    OffTurns off the “Intelligent Picture” feature.
    Manual Programme 
    PresetTo preset a channel, press PROG +/– to select the programme number, before 
    selecting “Label”, “AFT”, “Audio Filter”, “Skip”, “Decoder”, or “LNA”. You 
    cannot select a programme number that is set to “Skip” (page 42).
    Programme/
    System/ChannelAllows you to preset programme channels manually.
    1Press F/f to select “Programme”, then press  .
    2Press F/f to select the programme number you want to 
    manually tune (if tuning a VCR, select channel 00), then 
    press .
    3Press F/f to select “System”, then press  .
    4Press F/f to select one of the following TV broadcast 
    systems, then press  .
    B/G: For western European countries/areas
    I: For the United Kingdom
    D/K: For eastern European countries/areas
    L: For France
    5Press F/f to select “Channel”, then press  . 
    6Press F/f to select “S” (for cable channels) or “C” (for 
    terrestrial channels), then press g.
    7Tune the channels as follows:
    If you do not know the channel number 
    (Frequency)
    Press F/f to search for the next available channel. The 
    search stops when a channel is found. To continue 
    searching, press F/f.
    If you know the channel number (Frequency)
    Press the number buttons to enter the channel number of 
    the broadcast you want to tune, or the channel number of 
    your VCR.
    8Press   to jump to “Confirm”, then press  .
    Repeat the above procedure to preset other channels 
    manually.

    name appears briefly on the screen when you select the 
    channel. 
    To input characters, follow steps 2 to 4 in “Programme 
    Labels” (page 41).
    AFTAllows you to fine-tune the selected channel manually if you 
    feel that a slight tuning adjustment may improve picture 
    quality.
    When “On” is selected, fine tuning adjustments are made 
    automatically.
    Audio FilterImproves the sound of individual channels when distortion 
    occurs in mono broadcasts (normally set to “Off”).
    ~
    • You cannot receive stereo or dual sound when “Low” or 
    “High” is selected.
    SkipSkips unused analogue channels when you press PROG +/– 
    to select channels. To select channels you have programmed 
    to skip, use the corresponding number buttons.
    LNAImproves the picture quality of the channel (noisy picture) 
    when the broadcast signal is very weak.
    ConfirmSaves changes you have made to the “Manual Programme 
    Preset” settings.
    Digital Set-up
    Subtitle Set-up Subtitle SettingWhen set to “For Hard Of Hearing”, visual aids for the 
    hearing impaired are displayed with the subtitles (when such 
    visual aids are available).
    Preferred 
    LanguageAllows you to select the language of the subtitles.
    Audio Set-up Audio TypeSwitches to broadcast for the hearing impaired when you 
    select “For Hard Of Hearing”.
    Preferred 
    LanguageSets the language to be used for a programme. Some digital 
    channels may broadcast several audio languages for a 
    programme.
    Audio 
    DescriptionProvides audio description (narration) of visual information, 
    when such information is available.
    Mixing LevelAdjusts the TV main audio and “Audio Description” output 
    levels.
    Dynamic RangeCompensates for differences in the audio level between 
    different channels (only for Dolby Digital audio).

    • The effect may not function or may vary depending on the 
    programme regardless of the “Dynamic Range” setting.
    MPEG Audio 
    LevelAdjusts the MPEG audio sound level.
    Digital Tuning Digital Auto 
    TuningTunes in the available digital channels.
    You can retune the TV after moving house, or to search for 
    newly launched channels.

    Using Menu Functions
    Programme 
    SortingAllows you to remove or change the order of digital channels 
    stored in the TV.
    1Press F/f to select the channel you want to remove or 
    move to a new position.
    2Remove or change the order of the digital channels as 
    follows:
    To remove a digital channel
    Press  . After a confirmation message appears, press G 
    to select “Yes”, then press  .
    To change the order of the digital channels
    Press g, then press F/f to select the new position for the 
    channel and press G.
    3Press  RETURN.
    Digital Manual 
    TuningTunes the digital channels manually. This feature is available 
    when “Digital Auto Tuning” is set to “Antenna”.
    1Press the number buttons to enter the channel number 
    you want to tune, or press F/f.
    2When the available channels are found, press F/f to 
    select the channel you want to store, then press  .
    3Press F/f to select the channel number where you want 
    to store the new channel, then press  .
    Repeat the above procedure to tune other channels.
    LNAImproves the picture quality of the channel (noisy picture) 
    when the broadcast signal is very weak.
    Radio DisplayDisplays the screen wallpaper when you listen to a radio broadcast. You can select 
    the screen wallpaper colour, display a random colour or view a slideshow (page 25, 
    30). To cancel the screen wallpaper display temporarily, press any button.
    Parental LockSets an age restriction to viewing. To view any programme rated for ages above 
    the age you specify, enter the correct PIN code.
    PIN CodeEnter your PIN code to activate “Parental Lock”. You can also change the PIN 
    code.

    • PIN code 9999 is always accepted.
    Technical Set-up Auto Service 
    UpdateEnables the TV to detect and store new digital services as 
    they become available.
    System UpdateEnables the TV to automatically receive free software 
    updates through your existing aerial/antenna/cable (when 
    issued). We recommend that you leave the setting to “On” at 
    all times.
    System 
    InformationDisplays the current software version and the signal level.
    Time ZoneAllows you to manually select the time zone you are in, if it is 
    not the same as the default time zone setting for your country/
    area.
    Auto DSTSelect “On” to automatically switch between summer time 
    and winter time according to the calendar.
    Service 
    Replacement Select “On” to automatically change the channel when 
    broadcaster changes transmission of the viewing programme 
    to a different channel.
    Programme 
    Guide (only when

    available)You can switch GUIDE (Sony Guide or GUIDE Plus+). If 
    you change Sony Guide to GUIDE Plus+ programme

    Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol server function of the 
    router or Internet service provider.

    MAC AddressDisplays the “MAC address”, which is a fixed, globally 
    unique identifier of the network device.
    Server Display 
    SettingsDisplays the connected server list and allows you to select the server you want to 
    display on the Home Menu.
    Server DiagnosticsDiagnoses whether the TV can connect to each server on the home network.
    Renderer FunctionEnables playback of photo/music/video files on the TV through other control 
    devices on the network, such as a digital still camera or mobile phone.
    Renderer Access 
    ControlAllows you to specify the accessible controller to the TV. When this setting is set 
    to “On”, you can playback Photo/Music/Video files on the TV using the controller.
    Renderer Set-up Automatic 
    Access 
    PermissionAllows you to select whether to permit access to the TV 
    automatically when a network device accesses the TV for the 
    first time.
    Renderer NameAllows you to set the name of the TV to be shown on the 
    controller.

    Additional Information
    Installing the Accessories (Wall-Mount Bracket)
    To Customers:
    For product protection and safety reasons, Sony strongly recommends that installing of your TV be 
    performed by Sony dealers or licensed contractors. Do not attempt to install it yourself.
    To Sony Dealers and Contractors:
    Provide full attention to safety during the installation, periodic maintenance and examination of this 
    product.
    Your TV can be installed using the SU-WL500 Wall-Mount Bracket (sold separately).
    • Refer to the Instructions supplied with the Wall-Mount Bracket to properly carry out the 
    installation.
    • Refer to “Detaching the Table-Top Stand from the TV” (page 7).
    • Refer to “TV installation dimensions table” (page 46).
    • Refer to “Screw and Hook locations diagram/table” (page 47).
    ~
    • Place the TV on the Table-Top Stand, when securing the Mounting Hook.
    Sufficient expertise is required for installing this product, especially to determine the strength of 
    the wall for withstanding the TV’s weight. Be sure to entrust the attachment of this product to 
    the wall to Sony dealers or licensed contractors and pay adequate attention to safety during the 
    installation. Sony is not liable for any damage or injury caused by mishandling or improper 
    installation.
