13 GB Overview of the TV buttons and indicators 1 2 + / PROG + Increases the volume / selects the next channel. 2 2 / PROG In TV Mode: Switches between volume / channel selection options. In DVD Mode: To eject the disc, press this button until eject message appears. 3 2 - / PROG - Decreases the volume / selects the previous channel. 4 1 - Power Turns on/off the TV. To disconnect the TV completely, pull the plug from the mains. 5 Power/Standby Indicator and Remote control sensor • Lights up in green when the TV is turned on. • Lights up in red when the TV is in standby mode. • Receives IR signals from the remote. Do not put anything over the sensor, as its function may be affected. • Make sure that the TV is completely turned off before unplugging the mains lead. Unplugging the mains lead while the TV is turned on may cause the TV to malfunction.

Standby indicator on the front panel of the TV changes to green from red. 2 Press M to switch to digital or analogue mode. Input source menu appears on the display. 15 GB Watching TV To access Teletext In analogue mode, press /. Each time you press /, the display changes cyclically as follows: Picture and Teletext p Teletext p No Teletext (Exit the Teletext service). • Press number buttons or c/C to select a page. • Press M/[ to hold a page. • Press U/m to reveal hidden information on a page. • If there are subpages under a page and if you do not want to wait for auto scrolling, press G button for previous pages and g button for following pages. z• When four coloured items appear at the bottom of the Text page, Fastext is available. Fastext allows you to access pages quickly and easily. Press the corresponding coloured button to access the page. To change the screen format manually In TV Mode: Press N repeatedly to select the desired screen format. In DVD Mode: 1 Press MENU. 2 Press F/f to select Settings, then press 3. 3 Select "Picture", then press 3. 4 Select "Picture Format" and press 3. Wide Displays wide screen broadcasts (16:9) in the correct proportions. 14:9 Displays 14:9 broadcasts in the correct proportions. As a result, black border areas are visible on the screen. 4:3 Displays conventional 4:3 broadcasts (e.g. nonwide screen TV) in the correct proportions. LetterBox Displays cinemascopic broadcasts in the correct proportions. Subtitle Displays cinemascopic broadcasts with subtitles on the screen. Panorama Displays conventional 4:3 broadcasts with an imitation wide screen effect. The 4:3 picture is stretched to fill the screen. Auto Automatically changes the screen format to suit the broadcast signal. Overscan: Off When this mode is selected, high defined picture is not cropped and it is displayed in its original size. Top and bottom parts of the picture may be cut off. • Depending on the signal, some screen formats may not be selectable. • Some characters and/or letters at the top and the bottom of the picture may not be visible in “Panorama”.

To set a reminder for a programme 1 Press F/f to select the channel for which a reminder will be set, then press g. Programme information line will be activated. 2 Press F/f to select the programme information title for which a reminder will be set, then press blue button. 3 Enter the reminder information and press 3. 4 Press RETURN O to finish setting up. Cancel a set reminder 1 In EPG menu, press yellow button. 2 Press F/f to select the reminder to be cancelled. 3 Press red button to delete the reminder. 4 Press RETURN O to finish setting up. 1 In digital mode, press L GUIDE. 2 Perform the desired operation as shown in the following table or displayed on the screen. 17 GB Watching TV Using the Digital Favourite List You can create four different favourite channel lists. 1 Perform the following operations to open the programme table. T symbol will disappear. 5 Press RETURN O to finish setting up. Select a favourite list 1 Press T to select a favorite list. 2 In Favourite List menu, press F/f to select one of the lists from FAV1 to FAV4, then press 3 . Watch a channel 1 Open the desired favourite list. 2 Press F/f to select a channel, then press 3. Turn off the Favourite List 1 Press RETURN O This function may not be available in some countries/ regions.
18 GB Playing a DVD z• DVD starts playing automatically. • If j appears on TV, the selected function cannot be used with this disc. Getting ready 1 Press 1 on the TV or I/1 on the remote to turn on the TV. Standby indicator on the front panel of the TV changes to green from red. 2 Press M to select the DVD mode. Input source menu appears on the display. 3 Press F/f to select the DVD, then press 3 to confirm. Your TV will switch to the DVD mode. Inserting a disc 1 Hold the disk so that the printed side faces towards yourself and push it lightly into the disc bay until it is taken in automatically. Please see following illustration: Ejecting a disc 1 Press Z. Take the disk out. Playing a DVD Playing a track 1 After the DVD is read, playback starts automatically. • Depending on the DVD in use, you may be required to select a track or chapter from DVD content. 2 Press u to pause playback. 3 Press u to resume playback. 4 Press x to stop playback. Displaying information 1 Press U / Y to view the information line. 2 Press U / Y to hide the information line. Selecting a track or chapter through the DVD menu DVD contains various tracks and chapters that you may select. Number of tracks or chapters on the DVD is displayed in the information item next to the track and chapter indicator. 1 Press TOP MENU (track menu) to open the DVD content. DVD's track menu (if any) appears on the screen. 2 Press F/f or G/g to select the track or chapter, then press 3 to start playback. 3 Playback starts with the selected track/ chapter.
19 GB Selecting a track or chapter through the Info menu This function depends on the DVD in use. 1 Press and hold O to display the information bar during playback. 2 Press G/g to select the track or chapter. 3 Press number buttons to enter the two digit track or chapter. 4 Playback starts with the selected track or chapter. Step by step chapter selection 1 Press > to select the next chapter during playback. 2 Press . to select the previous chapter during playback. Pausing or resuming the playback You can pause or resume playback of a DVD as desired. 1 Press x once to pause playback. 2 Press u to resume playback. 3 Playback resumes from the point it was paused. Searching for a picture You can select different speeds (2x, 4x, 8x, 16x or 32x forward or backward). 1 Press m or M to select the playing speed during playback. 2 Press u to resume playback. Slow motion You can select different speeds (1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 forward). 1 Press u during playback. 2 Press M to select the slow motion speed. 3 Press u to resume playback. Switching the dubbing language or audio format Use this setting to change the preset dubbing language if the DVD contains alternatives. 1 Press AUDIO during playback. For example, following phrase which indicates the current dubbing language appears on the screen briefly: Audio 1/4: Dolby D 5.1 ch English "Audio 1/4" in the above example indicates that the first of the 4 dubbing languages is selected. "Dolby D 5.1 ch" indicates that the audio format is Dolby D 5.1. 2 Press AUDIO repeatedly to select the dubbing language. • DVD's structure may prevent you from changing the audio language. In this case, you can generally make the setting from the DVD menu. Selecting and displaying the subtitles If the DVD contains subtitles, they can be displayed on the TV screen. If there are subtitles in multiple languages, you can select the desired language. 1 Press V during playback. For example, following phrase which indicates the current subtitle language appears on the screen briefly: Subtitle 01/05 German Playing a DVD
20 GB 2 Keep pressing V to select the subtitle language. • Press V repeatedly until Subtitle Off appears on the screen to turn the subtitles off. • Switching between subtitle languages may be prevented by the DVD's own structure. In this case, you can generally make the setting from the DVD menu. Camera angle selection for certain scenes and passages Some DVDs contain scenes or passages shot many times from different camera angles. You can select one of these different angles. 1 Press N/ANGLE to select the camera angle function during playback. 2 Keep pressing N/ANGLE to select another camera angle. Repeating a chapter, track or disc This function repeats the current chapter, track, or the entire disk. 1 Press P during playback. Screen: ( Chapter) repeats. 2 Press P twice during playback. Screen: ( Title) repeats. 3 Press P three times during playback. Screen: ( All), entire disc repeats. 4 Press P again to exit the function. Creating a play list This function allows you to create a play list for DVDs. 1 Press PROG + to open the Programme menu. 2 Press number buttons to enter the track or chapter number. 3 For chapter play list, press F/f and G/g to select Start, then press 3 to confirm. 4 Press x to end playback. • This list is deleted automatically after playback. S-VCD/VCD Playback PBC (playback control) This is the navigation option for PBC, S-VCD/VCDs. PBC information is stored into the disc while it is being produced. PBC is activated when it is ready for delivery. PBC and channel information in the S-VCD/VCD indicate the navigation options. Playing a track 1 After the S-VCD/VCD is read, playback starts automatically. 2 Press u to pause playback. 3 Press u to resume playback. 4 Press x to stop playback. Searching for a picture You can select different speeds. 1 Press m or M to select the playing speed during playback. 2 Press u to resume playback.
