The table below describes the options when you connect all the speakers to the unit and you set
[SPEAKER FORMATION] to [STANDARD] (page 89).
For Australian models, the default setting is “A.F.D. STD.” For other models, the default setting is
“A.F.D. MULTI” (when connecting the headphones to the unit or surround amplifier, the default
    setting is “HP THEATER”).
    Sound from Surround effect Effect
Depending on the source. “A.F.D. STD”

the front and surround speakers by assigning the 2 channel
sound to the surround left and right channels.
Multi-channel source: The system outputs sound from the
speakers depending on the number of channels of the
    source.
    “PRO LOGIC”

“PLII MUSIC” 2 channel source: The system simulates surround sound
from 2 channel sources and outputs sound from all the
    speakers.
    – “PRO LOGIC” performs Dolby Pro Logic decoding.
    – “PLII MOVIE” performs Dolby Pro Logic II movie

subwoofer regardless of sound format or number of channels.
Multi-channel surround formats are downmixed to 2
    channels.
    “HP THEATER”*

Getting Started* DCS technology (page 119) is used.
To turn the surround effect off
Select “A.F.D. STD,” “2CH STEREO,” or “HP 2CH” for “DEC. MODE.”

while the optimum mode is automatically selected. To avoid cutting the sound, select “A.F.D. STD.”
When the bilingual broadcast sound is input, “PRO LOGIC,” “PLII MOVIE,” and “PLII MUSIC” are not effective.
“PRO LOGIC,” “PLII MOVIE,” and “PLII MUSIC” are canceled when you set the sound mode (page 97) to either
    of the following settings.
    – “SPORTS”
    – “MOVIE-D.C.S.-”
You cannot select the decoding mode while the system is loading a disc.
You cannot select the decoding mode during karaoke mode.
Depending on the input stream, the decoding mode may not be effective.
When changing the decoding mode while using the S-AIR receiver, sound from the S-AIR receiver may skip.
Tip The system memorizes the last decoding mode selected for each function.
Whenever you select a function such as “DVD” or “TUNER FM,” the decoding mode that was last applied to the
function is automatically applied again. For example, if you select “DVD” with “PRO LOGIC” as the decoding
mode, then change to another function, and then return to “DVD,” “PRO LOGIC” will be applied again. “HP 2CH”
