Slip the thread into the center slot and then up and over the take-up lever slot. Slip the thread into the center slot next to the take-up lever, then into the center slot in the guides just above the needle clamp. THREADING TIPS FOR 5-THREAD SAFETY STITCH: • Be sure to follow the threading sequence outlined above. • Make sure needles are set-up in positions D, and B for 5-thread safety stitch. This is very well illustrated in your manual on page 15. • If you would prefer a wider 5-thread safety stitch, place the overedge needle in the A rather than the B position when threading the blue overedge needle. This will widen the overedge finish on the edge of your fabric. • When inserting the needle in positions A or B, loosening both screws A and B will facilitate inserting and removing needles. • Always reset the tension dials by re-selecting the stitch after threading the serger.
THREADING INFORMATION FOR A TRIPLE COVER STITCH Disengage Moveable Upper Knife: Pull the holder (screw) as far as it will go to the right, and swing (turn) the knife down (counter-clockwise) until it clicks into resting position. ( To re-engage knife, pull the holder out to the right and swing the knife up (clockwise) until it clicks into working position.)
Disengage the Upper Looper: In order to attach the Cover Plate, you must first disengage the upper looper. Turn handwheel towards you until the rectangular white knob is as far right at possible.
To lower looper push the knob all the way to the left and then push upwards. (To re-engage the looper push the knob all the way to the left and push it down. Turn your handwheel toward you to raise the looper.)
