    							2-6Installing the Product
    2-6 Using it as a TV
    You may view television programs on the monitor if it is connected to an antenna or cable system  without installing any separate 
    TV reception hardware or software on your computer.
    1. Connect the cable or TV antenna cable to the [A NT IN] port on the rear side of the monitor. 
    • When using an indoor antenna/cable terminal: Check the antenna terminal on the wall and then connect the antenna/cable TV cable.
    • When using an outdoor antenna: When using an outdoor antenna, we strongly sugges t using a qualified technician to install it.
    2. When the connections are completed, connect the TV power.
    3. When the product is turned on for the first time after it was purchased, the initial setup operations () begin. 
     Be careful that the coaxial cable is not bent when  connecting it to the antenna input terminal [ANT IN].  Digital TV notice
    • Functionalities related to Digital TV (DVB) are only  available in countries/areas where DVB-T (MPEG2 and MPEG4 
    AVC) digital terrestrial signals are broadcasted or wher e you are able to access to a compatible DVB-C (MPEG2 and 
    MPEG4 AAC) cable-TV service. Please check with your loca l dealer the possibility to receive DVB-T or DVB-C signal.
    • DVB-T is the DVB European consortium standard for the bro adcast transmission of digital terrestrial television and 
    DVB-C is that for the broadcast transmission of digital TV over cable. However,  some differentiated features like EPG 
    (Electric Programme Guide), VOD (Video On Demand) and so on,  are not included in this specification. So, they cannot 
    be workable at this moment.
    • Although this TV set meets the latest DVB-T and DVB-C standa rds, as of [August, 2008], the compatibility with future 
    DVB-T digital terrestrial and DVB-C digi tal cable broadcasts cannot be guaranteed.
    • Depending on the countries/areas where this TV set is used  some cable-TV providers may charge an additional fee for 
    such a service and you may be required to agree  to terms and conditions of their business.
    • Some Digital TV functions might be unavailable in some coun tries or regions and DVB-C might not work correctly with 
    some cable service providers.
    • For more information, please contact your local Samsung customer care centre. The reception quality of TV may be affected due to diffe rences in broadcasting method between the countries. Please 
    check the TV performance in the local  SAMSUNG Authorized Dealer, or the Sa msung Call Centre whether it can be 
    improved by reconfiguring TV setting or not.

    2-7 Connecting an HDMI cable
    1.Connect the HDMI OUT port of the AV device (Blu-Ray/DVD/Cable/S atellite box) to the [HDMI(DVI) IN] terminal of the monitor 
    using the HDMI cable. 
    2. Press the [SOURCE] button at the front of the monitor  or on the remote control to select  mode.
     You do not need to make a separate audio connection when connecting via HDMI.

    2-8 Connecting Using an HDMI to DVI Cable 
    1.Connect the DVI output terminal of an external device to t he [HDMI(DVI) IN] terminal of the monitor using an HDMI to DVI 
    cable. 
    2. Connect the red and white plugs of an RCA to  stereo (for PC) cable to the same coloured audio output terminals of the digital 
    output device, and connect the opposite plug to the  [HDMI/PC/DVI-D AUDIO IN] terminal of the product.
    Press the [SOURCE] button at the front of the monitor  or on the remote control to select  mode.

    2-9 Connecting a Component cable 
    1.Connect the VIDEO OUT port of the AV device (DVD/VCR/ Cable/Satellite box) to the [COMPONENT IN / AV IN [PR, PB, Y/
    VIDEO]] input ports using a component video cable [P
    R, PB,Y].
    2. Connect the audio port of the AV device (DVD/VCR/Cable/Satellit e box) to the [COMPONENT IN / AV IN [R-AUDIO-L]] port of 
    the monitor.
    Press the [SOURCE] button at the front of the monitor or on the remote control to select the  mode.
     For an explanation of Component video, consul t your DVD/VCR/Cable/Satellite box manual.

    2-10 Connecting AV Devices
    1.Connect the port of the AV device (DVD /VCR/Cable/Satellite box/Camcorder) to th e [COMPONENT IN / AV IN [R-AUDIO-L]] 
    port of the product.
    2. Connect the video output terminal of the AV device and the [COMPONENT IN / AV IN [Y/VIDEO]] of the monitor using a video 
    cable.
    3. Select  using the [SOURCE] button on the remote.
     The audio-video cables shown here are usually included with a  Camcorder. (If not, check your local electronics store.)

    2-11 Connecting a Scart cable
    1.Connect the [EXT(RGB)] port of the monitor to the DVD Player using a SCART jack.
    2. When a Scart device is connected to your moni tor, the Source automatically changes to EXT.
     • Connect to the DVD Devices input if the device has a [EXT [RGB]] jack. 
    • You can watch DVD simply by hooking up the DVD player  with the monitor as long as the power is on.

    2-12 Connecting COMMON INTERFACE
    To watch paid channels, the “C I or CI+ CARD” must be inserted.
    1. If you don’t insert the CI or CI+ CARD, some  channels will display the message Scrambled Signal.
    2. The pairing information containing a telephone number, the CI  or CI+ CARD ID the Host ID and other information will be 
    displayed in about 2~3 minutes. If an error message  is displayed, please contact your service provider.
    3. When the configuration of channel information has finished, the  message Updating Completed is displayed, indicating the 
    channel list is updated.
     • You must obtain a CI or CI+ CARD from a local cable service provider.
    • When removing the CI or CI+ CARD, carefully pull it out  with your hands since dropping the CI or CI+ CARD may 
    cause damage to it.
    • Insert the CI or CI+ CARD in the direction marked on the card.
    • The location of the COMMON INTERFACE slot may be different depending on the model.
    • CI or CI+ CARD is not supported in some countries and regions; check with your authorized dealer.
    • If you have any problems, please  contact a service provider.

    2-13 Connecting to an Amplifier
    Connect the [DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL)] terminal of your monitor to the optical input of your amplifier using an optical 
    cable.
     • If no sound is emitted from the monitor, you need to use an amplifier.
    • For information on how to connect a speaker and amplifier,  refer to the respective user manuals provided by their 
    manufacturers.

    2-15 Kensington Lock 
    A Kensington Lock is an anti-theft device that enables users to lock the product so  that they can safely use it in public locations. 
    Since the shape and usage of the locking device may differ depending on the model and the manufacturer, for more information, 
    refer to the User Manual supplied with the locking device for more information.
     You must purchase the Kensington Lock separately.  
    To lock the product, follow these steps:
    1. Wrap the Kensington lock cable around a large,  stationary object such as a desk or chair.
    2. Slide the end of the cable with the lock attached through the looped end of the Kensington lock cable.
    3. Insert the locking device into the Ke nsington slot on the Monitor ( ).
    4. Lock the lock ( ).
     These are general instructions. For exact instructions, see the User Manual supplied with the locking device.
