66Screen Mirroring Share your device’s screen with another device. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Connections. 2. Tap Screen Mirroring. • Available devices are listed. 3. Tap Scan to find more devices. 4. Tap a device and follow the prompts to connect. Screen Mirroring Settings
67Sounds and Notifications Configure the sounds and vibrations used to indicate notifications, screen touches, and other interactions. Adjust the Volume Set the system volume level and default volume for call ringtones, notifications, and other audio. Note: You can also set Notifications volume from a Home screen by pressing the Volume key. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Sounds and notifications. 3. Drag the sliders to set the default volume for: • Notifications • Media • System Sound Mode You can switch between sound modes, while preserving the individual sound settings you have made. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Sounds and notifications > Sound mode, and then choose a mode: • Sound: Use the sounds, vibrations, and volume levels you have chosen in sound settings for notifications and alerts. • Vibrate: Vibrate for notifications and alerts. This uses the vibration intensity you choose in sound settings. • Mute: Mute all sounds and notifications. Vibration Intensity Set the vibration intensity of incoming calls, notifications, and Haptic feedback. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Sounds and notifications > Vibration intensity. 3. Drag the sliders to set the various vibration intensities. Sounds and Notifications Settings
68Sounds and Notifications Notification Ringtone Choose a sound for notifications, such as for new messages and event reminders. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Sounds and notifications > Notification ringtone. 3. Tap a sound to preview it, and then tap OK to set it as your default notification sound. Other Sounds Set various other sound options. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Sounds and notifications > Other sounds. 3. Tap the checkbox next to the options under Feedback and Samsung keyboard to indicate whether to enable the sound or vibration. 4. Configure notifications for Samsung applications: • Email: Configure email account notifications. An email account must be configured to use this option. • Calendar: Choose a sound for Calendar notifications. Do Not Disturb This setting allows you to block all notifications and alerts. The options below determine what notifications can make sounds, and during what time periods you want to enter this mode. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Sounds and notifications > Do not disturb. 3. Tap the checkbox next to Turn on now to turn the feature on. 4. Tap Turn on as scheduled, and then tap Days , Start time, and End time to set up a do not disturb schedule. 5. Tap Allow exceptions to allow alarms, calls, messages, or events and reminders. Notifications on Lock Screen Choose which notifications can display while the device is locked: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Sounds and notifications > Notifications on lock screen and choose an option. Application Notifications Set whether application notifications are displayed. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Sounds and notifications > Application notifications. 3. Swipe through the alphabetical list of apps and tap an app to enable or disable notifications. Notification Access Set whether applications have access to notifications. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Sounds and notifications > Notification access. 3. Swipe through the list of apps and tap On/Off to block apps from reading notifications. 69Display Settings Configure your display’s brightness, screen timeout delay, and other display settings. Change the Font Style and Size You can set the font style and size for all text that is displayed on the screen. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Font to choose a font style and font size. • Font style: Choose another font style, or tap Download to find new fonts from the Google Play store. • Font size: Choose a different font size. Adjust the Screen Brightness Adjust the screen brightness to suit your surroundings or personal preference. You may also want to adjust screen brightness to conserve battery power. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Brightness to customize options: • Tap Automatic brightness to allow the device to adjust brightness automatically. • Drag the Brightness level slider to set a custom brightness level. Note : You can also control Brightness from the Notification panel. Screen Rotation Use the front camera to rotate the screen based on the orientation of your device. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Screen rotation to turn the feature on. Smart Stay Using the front camera to detect your face, the screen does not time out as long as you are facing the screen. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Smart stay to turn the feature on. Screen Timeout Turn the screen off after a set amount of time. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. 70Display Settings Screen Mode Choose a screen mode to match your type of viewing. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Screen mode and choose a screen mode: • Tap Adaptive display if you want your device to automatically optimize the display to match the type of image being displayed and other criteria, such as battery level. – or – Choose a specific type of screen mode based on what you are viewing. Reading Mode Optimize the screen for reading with selected applications. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Reading mode. 3. Tap On/Off to enable Reading mode. 4. Tap Edit to select additional applications for use with Reading mode. Auto Adjust Screen Tone Your device analyzes the images displayed on the screen and automatically adjusts the brightness to conserve battery power. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Auto adjust screen tone to turn the feature on. Daydream The Daydream™ setting controls what is displayed on the screen when the device is docked (dock not included) or while charging. You can choose to display colors or display photos. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Daydream. 3. Tap On/Off to turn on Daydream. 4. Configure options: • Colors: Display a changing screen of colors. • Desk home screen: Select items to display while the device is docked. Tap Settings for options. • Flipboard: Display pictures from Flipboard. Tap Settings for options. • Photo table: Display pictures in a photo table. Tap Settings for options. • Photo frame: Display pictures in a photo frame. Tap Settings for options. 5. Tap More options for additional options: • Preview: See a demonstration of Daydream. • Select when to daydream: Select when your device can go into Daydream mode. Touch Key Light Duration Set the length of time Recent and Back remain lit after you touch them. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Touch key light duration to choose a timeout period. Settings
71Display Settings Increase Touch Sensitivity Increase the sensitivity of the touch screen to improve results when wearing gloves. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Display > Increase touch sensitivity to turn the feature on. Settings
72Wallpaper Settings Change the look of the Home and Lock screens with wallpaper. You can display a favorite picture or choose from preloaded wallpapers. To change wallpaper: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Wallpaper. 3. Tap Home screen, Lock screen, or Home and lock screen. 4. Tap an image to preview it. • Tap From Gallery for additional wallpapers. • Tap Bubbles or Phase beam for animated wallpaper. (Animated wallpaper consumes additional battery power.) • Tap Travel wallpaper to display recommended destinations on your lock screen. 5. Tap Set as wallpaper to select an image. 73Lock Screen Secure your device and protect your data with Lock Screen settings. Set a Screen Lock It is recommended that you secure your device using a Screen lock. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Tap Lock screen > Screen lock to select a screen lock and level of security: • Swipe: Swipe the screen to unlock it. This option provides no security. • Pattern: Create a pattern that you draw on the screen to unlock your device. This option provides medium security. • PIN : Select a PIN to use for unlocking the screen. This option provides medium to high security. • Password: Create a password for unlocking the screen. This option provides high security. • Fingerprint: Use fingerprint recognition to unlock the screen. This option provides medium to high security. • None: Do not lock the screen. Note : Fingerprint recognition uses the unique characteristics of each fingerprint to enhance the security of your device. The likelihood of the fingerprint sensor confusing even small areas of two different fingerprints is very low. But in rare cases, the sensor may recognize a fingerprint that is similar to a registered fingerprint. 3. If you choose a secured screen lock option, select your notification settings: • Show content • Hide content • Do not show notifications. 4. Choose a screen lock option: Swipe Only • Shortcuts: Set shortcuts to appear on the Lock screen. • Unlock effect: Set the visual effect used when unlocking the screen. • Help text: Show help information on unlocking the screen on the Lock screen. Pattern Only • Pattern type: Select a pattern type. • Make pattern visible: Display the pattern as your draw it. • Vibration feedback: Vibrate when the unlock pattern is entered incorrectly. All screen lock types • Clock widget options: Set the size of the Clock widget that is displayed on your Home screens, and whether to show the date. • Owner Information: Show owner information on the lock screen. • Lock automatically: Set how quickly to lock the screen after the screen automatically turns off. • Lock instantly with power key: Use this option to enable the Lock screen when the Power Key is pressed. If this option is not enabled, the screen dims or brightens when the Power Key is pressed. Lock Screen Settings
74Multi Window Settings Multi Window Settings Turn on the Multi window feature. To activate Multi window: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device . 2. Ta p Multi window. 3. Tap On/Off to enable Multi window. The following option is available: • Open in Multi window view: Automatically open content in Multi window view when an application is open in full screen view, if the applications support Multi window. 75Notification Panel Settings Notification Panel Settings Customize which Quick setting buttons appear on the Notification panel. To access Notification panel settings: ►From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device > Notification panel. – or – From the Notification panel, tap View all > Edit. To customize which quick setting buttons appear at the top of the Notification panel: ► Touch and drag buttons to reorder them. To use the default layout: ► Tap Reset.
