86 Notications Notications Select which apps you want to receive alerts from. Alerts include notications, sounds, and vibrations. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap N otications. 3. Tap On/O next to an app to enable or disable notications. • Tap Advanced to congure more notication options for individual apps. Settings
87 Display Display Congure your display’s brightness, screen timeout delay, and other display settings. Brightness Adjust the screen brightness to suit your surroundings or personal preference. You may also want to adjust screen brightness to conserve battery power. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Dis play. 3. Customize options under Brightness: • Tap Auto to allow the device to adjust brightness automatically. • Drag the Brightness slider to set a custom brightness level. Note : You can also control Brightness from the Notication panel. Font Size and Style You can set the font size and style for all text that is displayed on the screen. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Dis play > Font to choose a font size and style. • Drag the slider to adjust the font size. • Tap a font style to select a font, or tap Download fonts to nd new fonts from Galaxy Apps. 3. Tap Done to set the font size and style. Display Scaling You can choose to scale icons in order to view more or less on your screen at one time. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Dis play > Display scaling and choose the scaling size. 3. Tap Done to save. Icon Backgrounds You can show icons with a shaded background to make them stand out on the Home screen and Apps list screen. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Dis play > Icon backgrounds and choose one of the following options: • Icons only: Show icons only. • Icons with backgrounds: Show icons with shaded backgrounds. 3. Tap Done, and conrm when prompted. Screen Timeout Turn the screen o after a set amount of time. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Dis play > Screen timeout and choose a time period. 88 Display Smart Stay The screen does not time out as long as you are facing the front camera. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Display > Smart stay, and tap On/O to turn the feature on. Always On Display Choose an image or information to display instead of turning o the screen. Note : To turn this feature on or o without going to Settings, double tap the screen while it is turned o or while the selected image or information is displayed. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Display > Always on display. 3. Tap On/O to enable the feature, and then set the following options: • Time settings: Set the start and end times for Always on display. • Content to show: The content to show: Clock, Calendar, or Image. • Clock style: The clock, calendar, or image style. • Background image: If clock is chosen, set the background image. • About Always On Display: View the current software version and license information. Screen Mode Choose a screen mode to match your type of viewing. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Display > Screen mode and choose a screen mode: • Tap Adaptive display if you want your device to automatically optimize the display to match the type of image displayed and other criteria, such as battery level. – or – Choose a specic type of screen mode based on what you are viewing. LED Indicator Light up the LED indicator when charging, voice recording, or receiving notications. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Display. 3. Tap LED indicator to enable this feature. Keep Screen Turned O Prevent the screen from turning on accidentally while the device is in a dark place, such as a pocket or bag. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Display. 3. Tap Keep screen turned o to enable this feature. Settings
89 Display Screensaver Screensaver controls what is displayed on the screen when the device is docked (dock not included) or while charging. You can choose to display colors or display photos. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Display > Screensaver. 3. Tap On/O to enable Screensaver. 4. Congure options: • Colors: Tap the selector to display a changing screen of colors. • Photo Table: Display pictures in a photo table. Tap Settings for options. • Photo frame: Display pictures in a photo frame. Tap Settings for options. • Photos: Display pictures from your Google Account. Tap Settings for options. 5. T ap More for additional options: • Preview: See a demonstration of Screensaver. • Select when to use: Select when your device can go into Screensaver mode. Settings
90 Edge Screen Settings Edge Screen Settings Manage the panels that display on the Edge screen, including your own custom panels, and set up night mode. To access Edge screen settings: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Edge screen. The following options are available: • Edge panels: Congure Edge for accessing apps, tasks, and contacts, as well as view news, sports, and other information on the Edge screen. • Edge feeds: Congure Edge feeds, which display select information and notications on the Edge screen when the screen is turned o. • Edge lighting: Set the Edge screen to light up when you receive calls or notications while the phone is turned over. If People edge is also turned on, the color of the indicator depends on your My people settings. • About Edge screen: View the Edge screen version number, check for updates, and view open source licenses. Edge Panels To congure Edge panels: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Edge screen > Edge panels. 3. Ta p On/O to enable the feature. The following options are available: • Download: Search for and download more Edge panels from Galaxy Apps. • Reorder: Change the order of the panels by dragging them to the left or right. Checkbox: Enable or disable each panel. • • Panel name: See the name of a panel by tapping the middle of the panel. Edit (if available): Congure individual panels by tapping. • • Edge panel handle settings: Drag to change the position of the Edge panel handle along the edge of the screen, and then congure the following Edge panel handle settings: -Position: Choose either Right side or Left side to set which side the Edge screen appears on. -Size : Choose the size of the Edge screen handle. It can be Small, Medium, or Large. -Transparency: Drag the slider to adjust the transparency of the Edge screen handle. 4 . Tap Back to save changes. Settings
91 Edge Screen Settings Edge Feeds Edge feeds display select information and notications on the Edge screen when the screen is turned o. To congure the Edge feeds: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap E dge screen > Edge feeds. 3. Tap On/O to activate the Edge feeds feature. • Download: Search for and download more Edge feeds from Galaxy Apps. • Reorder: Change the order of the panels by dragging them to the left or right. Checkbox: Enable or disable each feed. • • Feed name: See the name of a feed by tapping the middle of the panel. Edit (if available): Congure a feed. • • Edge feed timeout: Congure how long the Edge screen stays on when activated. 4. Tap Back to save changes. Edge Lighting Edge lighting and Quick reply are features that activate when your device is turned over (display side down) . Edge lighting illuminates the Edge screen when a notication is received. If People edge is also on, the color of the indicator is the one assigned to the contact who is calling or messaging. To turn on Edge lighting: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap E dge screen > Edge lighting. 3. Tap On/O to turn on the feature. Quick Reply Quick reply allows you to reject an incoming phone call with a text message by placing your nger on the heart rate sensor for two seconds. The call is rejected, and a preset message is sent to the caller. To turn on and congure Quick reply: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap E dge screen > Edge lighting > Quick reply. 3. Tap On/O to enable Quick reply. 4. Tap the message to edit the text reply. 5. Tap Back to save changes. About Edge Screen You can view the current software version and license information for the Edge screen feature. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap E dge screen > About Edge screen. 92 Advanced Features Advanced Features Congure features on your device that make it easier to use. Manage Game Features Manage useful features while you play games. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Advanced features > Games. 3. Tap On/O to enable or disable the following: • Game Launcher: Automatically arranges all your games in one place. • Game Tools: When enabled, a button oating over top of your game provides convenient game features, such as No alerts during game, Minimize and alive, Screenshot, and Record. Game tools can also access your Contacts, Storage, Microphone, and Camera. Identify Unsaved Numbers This feature is designed to identify numbers that are not stored in your Contacts list and to alert you when an incoming call may be a nuisance call or spam. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Advanced features > Identify unsaved numbers. 3. Tap On/O. 4. Read the Privacy Notice and tap Agree to enable the feature. One-Handed Operation Change the screen layout to accommodate operating your device with one hand. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Advanced features > One-handed operation. 3. Tap On/O to enable or disable the following: • Reduce screen size: Press the Home key three times in quick succession to reduce the size of the display. • One-handed input: Adjust the size and position of the keyboard and other input methods for easier input with one hand. 93 Advanced Features Other Features Congure other useful features. For example, you can control certain device actions by picking up the device and by touching the screen with the palm of your hand or turning over the device. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Advanced features. 3. Tap On/O to enable each of the following: • Quick launch Camera: Open the Camera by quickly pressing the Home key twice. • Pop-up view gesture: View an app in pop-up view by swiping downwards diagonally from either corner at the top of the screen while the app is open and shown on the screen. • Smart capture: Capture an image of any scrollable areas of the screen that are currently hidden, as well as the area that is visible, and crop and share the screenshot immediately. • Palm swipe to capture: Capture an image of the screen by swiping the edge of your hand across it, from side to side, keeping in contact with the screen. • Direct call: Call the contact whose call log, message, or contact details are currently on the screen by bringing the device close to your ear. • Smart alert: Set the device to vibrate when you pick it up to notify you about missed calls and messages. • Easy mute: Mute sounds and video by covering the screen or turning over the device. 94 Wallpaper Wallpaper Change the look of the Home and Lock screens with wallpaper. You can display a favorite picture or choose from preloaded wallpapers. To change wallpaper: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Wallpaper. 3. Tap Home screen, Lock screen, or Home and lock screens. 4. T ap an image to preview it, and then tap Set as wallpaper. • Tap Wallpaper motion eect to allow the wallpaper to shift slightly as you move the device. • Tap From Gallery for additional wallpapers. 95 Themes Themes Set the theme to be applied to your Home and Lock screens, wallpapers, and app icons. You can apply a theme to your Home or Lock screen. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Themes. • Tap a theme to view a preview of various screens. • Tap More themes to download additional themes from the Theme Store with your Samsung account. 3.
