47Messages View New Messages When you receive a new message, a new message icon displays on the Status Bar. To view the message: 1. Open the Notification Panel and select the message. For more information, see Notification Panel . – or – From a Home screen, tap Apps > Messages , and then tap the new message to view it. 2. To play a multimedia message (audio or video) , tap Play . 3. To scroll through the list of messages, tap the screen and scroll up or down the page. Delete Messages To delete messages, follow these steps: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Messages . 2. Tap MORE > Delete . 3. Tap each message you want to delete or tap the All checkbox. 4. Tap DELETE. Message Search 1. You can search through your messages by using the Message Search feature. 2. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Messages . 3. Tap SEARCH. 4. Enter a word or phrase to search for, and then tap Search on the keyboard. Messages Settings Configure the settings for text messages, multimedia messages, push messages, and so on. ► From a Home screen, tap Apps > Messages > MORE > Settings . Emergency Alerts This device is designed to receive wireless emergency alerts from the Commercial Mobile Alerting System (CMAS) which may also be known as the Personal Localized Alerting Network (PLAN) . For more information, please contact your wireless provider. Emergency Alerts allows customers to receive geographically-targeted messages. Alert messages are provided by the US Department of Homeland Security and alert customers of imminent threats to their safety within their area. There is no charge for receiving an Emergency Alert message. There are three types of Emergency Alerts: • Alerts issued by the President • Alerts involving imminent threats to safety of life (Extreme and Severe) • AMBER Alerts (missing child alert) Users may choose not to receive Imminent Threats (Extreme and Severe) and AMBER Alerts. Alerts issued by the President cannot be disabled. Applications
48Messages To disable Imminent Threats and AMBER Alerts, follow the instructions below: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Messages . 2. Tap MORE > Settings > Emergency alert settings. 3. Tap Emergency alerts. 4. All alerts are enabled by default. Tap an alert option to disable it. You cannot disable Presidential alerts. Applications
49My Files Access files stored on your phone, including images, videos, songs, and sound clips. To access the My Files app: ► From a Home screen, tap Apps > My Files. File Groups Files stored in the phone are organized into the following groups: • Category : Files are grouped into the following categories: Images: View image files. Videos: View video files. Audio: View audio files. Documents: View document files. Download history: View all apps and files that have been downloaded to the phone. • Local storage: View folders and files in their storage locations. Device storage: View folders and files located on the device. SD card: View folders and files located on a memory card (not included). View Files in My Files 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > My Files. 2. Tap a group or category to view the relevant files or folders. 3. Tap a file or folder to open it. My Files Options On the main My Files screen, the following options are available: • SEARCH: Search for a file or folder. • MORE: Tap for the following option: • Show/Conceal hidden files: Show or conceal hidden files. • STORAGE USAGE: Tap to view memory information for your phone. Category Options After tapping a category, the following options are available: • HOME: Return to the main My Files screen. • MORE: Tap for the following options: • Search: Search for a file in the selected category. • Edit: Select files or folders. • Create folder: Add a folder. • Add shortcut: Add a shortcut to the main My Files screen. • Share: Send files to others or share them. • View as: Change the appearance of the files or folders. • Sort by: Change the sort order of the files. • Show/Conceal hidden files: Show or conceal hidden files. 50My Files Options for Selected Files and Folders 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > My Files. 2. Tap a category. 3. Tap MORE > Edit. 4. Select a file or folder, and then use one of these functions: • DELETE: Delete files or folders. • MORE: Select one of the following options: - Move : Move files or folders to another folder. - Copy : Copy files or folders to another folder - Rename: Rename a file or folder. This option only displays when just one file or folder is selected. - Add shortcut on Home screen: Add a shortcut to the folder on a Home screen. - Compress: Create a zip folder containing the selected files. This option only displays in Local Storage categories. - Details: View details of the selected files or folders. Applications

52Voice Recorder Voice Recorder Record voice memos and notes. Create a Voice Recording ► From a Home screen, tap Apps > Voice Recorder. • Tap Record to record an audio file. • Tap Stop to stop recording. The file is automatically saved. • Tap Pause to pause the recording of an audio file. • Tap Call rejection to reject calls while recording an audio file. View Recordings ► From a Home screen, tap Apps > Voice Recorder. • Tap List to display a list of recordings. • Tap MORE: - Edit: Select recordings to delete or rename. - Share: Select recordings to send to others or share them. 54How to Use Settings How to Use Settings Accessing Settings ► From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . – or – From a Home screen, drag down from the Status Bar to display the Notification Panel, and then tap Settings . Search for Settings If you are not sure exactly where to find a certain setting, you can use the Setting search feature. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap SEARCH. • Enter a word or words in the Search box. As you type, settings that match display on the screen. • Tap an entry to go to that setting. Settings
55Wi-Fi Wi-Fi is a term used for certain types of Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) . Wi-Fi communication requires access to a Wireless Access Point (WAP) . Turn Wi-Fi On or Off Turning Wi-Fi on makes your device able to discover and connect to compatible in-range WAPs. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Wi-Fi, and then tap ON/OFF to turn Wi-Fi on or off. Scan and Connect to a Wi -Fi Network 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Wi-Fi, and then tap ON/OFF to turn Wi-Fi on. 3. When Wi-Fi is first turned on, your device automatically scans for available networks and displays them. 4. Tap the network you want to connect to. • When you select an open network, you are automatically connected to the network. Otherwise, enter a password to connect. Manually Connect to a Wi-Fi Network 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Wi-Fi, and then tap ON/OFF to turn Wi-Fi on. 3. Tap MORE > Add network. 4. Enter information about the Wi-Fi network: • Network Name: Enter the name of the Wi-Fi network. • Security: Select a security option and enter your password. • Show advanced options: Tap if you need to add advanced options such as Proxy settings, IP settings, or Key management. 5. Tap CONNECT to store the new information and connect to your target WAP. Wi-Fi Settings The Wi-Fi settings menu allows you to set up many of your device’s advanced Wi-Fi services. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Wi-Fi, and then tap ON/OFF to turn Wi-Fi on. 3. Tap MORE for options: • Add network: Manually connect to a Wi-Fi network. • WPS push button: Set up a connection to a WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) router or other equipment. • WPS PIN entry: View the PIN used by your device to set up a PIN-secured connection to a Wi-Fi router or other equipment (not configurable) . 56Wi-Fi • Smart network switch: Automatically switch between Wi-Fi and mobile networks to maintain a stable Internet connection. • Advanced: -Network notification: Receive a notification when new Wireless Access Points (WAPs) are available. -Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep: Specify when to disconnect from Wi-Fi. -Always allow scanning: Allow Google location service and other apps to scan for networks, even when Wi-Fi is turned off. -Install network certificates: Install authentication certificates. -MAC address: View your device’s MAC address, which is required when connecting to some secured networks (not configurable) . -IP address: View your device’s IP address (not configurable) . Wi-Fi Status Indicators Status Bar icons show your current Wi-Fi connection status: • W hen Wi-Fi is connected, active, and communicating with a Wireless Access Point (WAP) , displays. • If a Wi-Fi access point is available, but your device is not connected to it, displays. It may also display if there is a communication issue with the target Wireless Access Point (WAP) . Wi -Fi Direct Wi-Fi Direct allows direct device-to-device connections via Wi-Fi, without having to connect to a Wi-Fi network. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Wi-Fi, and then tap ON/OFF to turn Wi-Fi on. Wi-Fi must be on to configure settings. 3. Tap Wi-Fi Direct. Your device automatically scans for nearby Wi-Fi Direct devices. 4. After scanning for devices, select a device, and then follow the prompts to complete the connection. To disconnect from a device: ► Tap Tap here to disconnect. Wi-Fi Direct Status Indicator When your device is connected to another device using Wi-Fi Direct, displays in the Status Bar. Settings
