    Choosing a Multi-Channel Sound (MTS) track
    Depending on the particular program being broadcast, you can listen to Mono, Stereo or SAP.

    Alternate method
    Press the MTS button on the
    remote control repeatedly to select
    an external signal source.
    NOTES
    •Choose “Mono” for channels that are broadcasting in mono, or 
    if you are having difficulty receiving a stereo signal.
    •Choose “Stereo” for channels that are broadcasting in stereo.
    •Choose “SAP” to listen to the Separate Audio Program, which is
    usually a foreign-language translation.

    Choosing a Digital Sound Format
    Digital sound can be output from the rear-panel connector on your TV. The digital sound
    output is an optical connector labeled “Optical Out”. After connecting an optical digital-audio
    component, you must specify the transmission format (Dolby or PCM, as appropriate to your
    digital audio component). See the owners manual of your Digital Audio component for further 
    information.

    Selecting the Internal Mute
    When using a device such as a Home Theater or Amplifier with external speakers, you can set
    Internal Mute to On to cut off sound from the TVs internal speakers.

    will alternate between “On”
    and “Off”.

    NOTES
    •The VOL +, VOL-and Mute buttons do not operate when the
    Internal Mute is set to On.
    •When Internal Mute is on, only the Multi-Track Options, Melody,
    Sound Select, and SubWoofer menu are available in the Sound
    menu.

    Setting up the Sub Woofer Output
    After connecting a Sub Woofer Speaker (sold separately), you may set the activation, volume and
    cut-off frequency.

    Using the V-Chip
    Access to channels and programs is controlled by a password (i.e., a 4-digit secret code that is
    defined by the user). The on-screen menu will instruct you to assign a password (you can change it
    later, if necessary).
    How to Change Your Password

    select “Setup”, then press
    the ENTER button.

    select “V-Chip”, then press
    the ENTER button.

    Press the number buttons to
    enter your current 4-digit pin
    number.
    (The default pin number for
    a new TV set is “0000”.)
    The “V-Chip” menu is
    displayed.

    number.
