31 Hold In T alk mode, p ress the hold button to hold the line. Line X ON HOLD shows in the L CD display, and the line icon will ash. On the base, the line button indicator will ash also . When the line is on hold, the hold ale rt tone will be emitted to both the person on hold and to the user that initiated the hold. Pr ess the cor responding LINE Soft k ey (on handset), or the line button (on base) to r elease the hold and pick up the call again. Confer ence Calls This system can suppo rt 3-w ay and 4-w ay conference calls. Join a call in pr ogress: 1. While a call is in p rogr ess, another user can join that call by pr essing the corresponding line button on the base unit or Soft key in the handse t. Both par ties on the original call will hear a tone to ale rt them someone else has joined the call. NO TE: If the priv acy feature is On for the original call, the call cannot be joined by another user . 3-w ay confer ence call by an in ter com call: 1. While on a call, p ress the intercom button, w ait for timer to clear fr om the screen, pr ess the intercom button again and then select the desir ed handset or base to inter com. 2. The selected handset or base will emit a page tone. The user can pr ess the Talk button on the handset or the speaker button on the base to answ er the intercom call page. 3. The originating caller can then p ress the CONF Soft k ey shown on the display to establish a 3- way confe rence betw een the external caller and the inter com call. 3-w ay confer ence call with t wo lines: 1. During a call on Line 1, p ress the hold button to put the call on hold. 2. Pr ess the line 2 button or Soft k ey on the handset to get a dial tone. Dial the number , and then talk to the other pe rson. 3. The originating caller can then p ress the CONF Soft k ey shown on the display to establish a 3- way confe rence betw een the tw o lines. 4-w ay confer ence call (Line 1 + Line 2 + 2 ext ension): 1. Once the base unit or handset has both Line 1 and 2 on hold, pr ess the intercom button and then select the desi red handset or base to inter com. 2. The selected handset or base will emit a page tone. The user can pr ess the Talk button on the handset or the speaker button on the base to answ er the intercom call page. 3. The originating caller can then p ress the CONF Soft k ey shown on the display to initiate a confer ence. Since Line 1 and 2 a re both on hold, the user will be pr ompted to select Line 1, Line 2 or Both to confe rence with. The user can then use the Soft k eys to select the desi red option. If the BOTH Soft k ey is selected a 4-w ay conference is established betw een the originating calle r, both lines and the inter com call.
32 Intercom Calls One-T ouch/Memor y Log 1. On the base, in idle mode, p ress any One-Touch/Memor y Log button (1- 10) for the station y ou want to inter com with. One-Touch/Memor y Log button #1 r epresents handset 01, #2 repr esents handset 02, etc. The Inter com paging ring will be emitted. -OR- You may pr ess the intercom button, then p ress the One-Touch/Memor y Log button (1- 10) for the stations you w ant to inter com with. -OR- Press the intercom button, and all the register ed handsets and the base except itself list in the log, use the VOL (- or +) k ey to scroll to the station y ou want to inter com with, and then pr ess SELECT Soft key to con rm. NO TE: T o abor t intercom call, pr ess the STOP Soft key. NO TE: If the r eceiving station does not ans wer within 30 seconds, the int ercom call is cancelled. You will hear an err or tone and the scr een displays Unav ailable . Answering an Int ercom Call If y ou do not w ant to answer this intercom call, p ress the REJECT Soft k ey. Page The page featu re helps you locate a misplaced handse t. 1. Pr ess the page button on the base. The handset beeps and the Visual Indicator on the handset ashes. The handset sc reen displays Paging fr om Base . 2. To cancel the page, p ress the page button on the base, or pr ess STOP Soft k ey on the base, or pr ess exit key on the base, or p ress any k ey on the handset . Otherwise the paging will last for 2 minutes. Aut o Standby If you place the handset in the cradle while the handset is off the hook (during a call), the call is automatically disconnected.
33 Caller ID (CID) IMP ORTANT : In or der to use this unit ’s Caller ID featur es, you must subscribe t o either the standar d Name/Number Caller ID Ser vice or Call Waiting Caller ID Ser vice. T o know who is calling while you ar e on the phone, y ou must subscribe t o Call W aiting Caller ID Ser vice. When the unit receiv es an incoming call with CID information, the CID can be shown on the base and handsets. Base Display Handset Display LINE1LINE2 L 1 R eceiving and S toring CID R ecords This unit receiv es and displays information transmitted by y our local phone company. This information can include the phone numbe r, date and time; or the name, phone number , date and time. The unit can sto re up to 99 r ecords for later r eview. When the memor y is full, a new call automatically replaces the oldest call in memor y. NE W appear s in the display for calls receiv ed that hav e not been r eviewed. The line number for the call r eceiv ed is also displa yed. If tw o incoming calls come in at the same time, both L1 and L2 phone number s shows on the display while ringing. By pr essing the exit key on the base unit or handset during the incoming call ringing mode, the base unit or handset will stop ringing and go back to idle mode. The base unit or handset will not ring in the subsequent ring c ycles, but the line icon and handset line Soft k ey will k eep ashing and the base Line LED and handset message LED will ash until the call is ans wer ed or the ans wering system picks u p. R eviewing CID R ecords • Pr ess CID button, and then use the VOL (- or +) button to scr oll through the call r ecords. • When y ou scroll to the sta rt/end of the lis t, the scr een displays --START/END-- . • When r eviewing the CID r ecords, the r ecord number is also shown to the right of the time along with the FORMAT and STORE Soft k eys.
34 Saving a CID Record to the Phone Dir ectory NO TE: If y ou want to change the format of the CID number to 7, 10 or 11 digits and sav e it in the direct ory, pr ess the FORMA T Soft key to format the CID number r st before pressing the ST ORE Soft key. See the “Dialing Back” section for mor e information on formatting a number . 1. While viewing a CID r ecord, pr ess the STORE Soft k ey. 2. The name shows in the display. You can edit i t. After editing, pr ess the SAVE Soft k ey. NO TE: The name eld cannot be left empty. 3. The number shows in the display. You can edit i t. After editing, pr ess the SAVE Soft k ey. 4. You can select the ring melody for this phone numbe r. Use the VOL (- or +) button to scr oll to y our selection, and then p ress the SELECT Soft key to sav e. The scr een displays Sav ed. NO TE: If an incoming call number mat ches this record the VIP T one Melody will ring. Deleting a CID R ecord Press the delete button to delete the recor d shown in the display. The scr een displays DELE TE?. Press the YES Soft k ey to con rm. Recor d Delet ed! shows for 3 seconds. Deleting All Call R ecords This featu re allows y ou to clear all CID recor ds at once. 1. While viewing a CID r ecord, pr ess and hold the delete button. The scr een displays Delete All CID R ecords?. 2. Pr ess YES Soft k ey to con rm. All CID Recor ds Delet ed shows for 3 seconds. Dialing Back When r eviewing CID r ecords, y ou can dial back the number s showing on the display by pr essing the headset button, or the Talk button, or the Spk button or the line 1 or line 2 button. If Y ou Pr ogrammed Y our Local Area Code 1. Use the CID button to display the number you w ant to dial. 2. If y ou see a number with 7 digits (i .e. 555-1234), then the call w as receiv ed from within y our ar ea code. How ever, this does not guarantee the call is a local call. If y ou see a number with 11 digits (i .e.1-234-555-1234), then the call r eceived was not fr om your ar ea code. 3. To adjust the phone number forma t, use the FORMAT Soft k ey. For instance, a 7-digit local number sometimes cannot be dialed because it r equires a 10-digit or 11-digit format . Use the FORMAT Soft k ey to sc roll thr ough 7, 10 and 11-digit number s.

Call W aiting Caller ID This featu re allows y ou to see who is calling when you hear the call w aiting beep. The caller identi cation information appea rs in the display after y ou hear the tone. • Pr ess the ash button to put the pe rson to whom y ou’re talk ing on hold and answ er the incoming call. IMP ORTANT : To use all the featur es of this unit, you must subscribe t o either the standar d Name/Number Caller ID Ser vice or Caller ID with Call Waiting Service. The Director y and each One-T ouch/Memor y Log sto res up to 16 characte rs and 32 digits. The r ecords ar e stor ed by alphabetic ascending o rder . Adding Direct ory Entries 1. Mak e sur e the phone is OFF (not in T alk mode). 2. Pr ess the DIR button. 3. Pr ess the NEW Soft k ey. The sc reen displays Enter Name . Use the number pad to input a name. NO TE: Mor e than one lett er is stored in each of the number k eys so it requires mor e than one pr ess for some lett ers. F or example, for the lett er “B” press the number 2 k ey twice. To add a space pr ess the 1 key. NO TE: The name eld cannot be left empty. 4. Pr ess SAVE Soft k ey. The sc reen displays Enter Number . 5. Use the touch-tone pad to input a telephone numbe r. TIP: Pr ess the #pause but ton twice t o insert a pause in a number if necessar y. 6. Pr ess the SAVE Soft k ey to enter VIP tone melody selection. NO TE: If an incoming call number mat ches this record the VIP T one Melody will ring. 7. Use VOL (- or +) button to sc roll to the selection and pr ess SELECT Soft key to complete. NO TE: If Memor y full shows in the display, you should delet e one or more unnecessar y recor ds and r epeat abov e steps t o continue the call r ecord st orage. Storing a Recor d in the One-T ouch Memory Buttons (Only applicable for base) 1. Mak e sur e the phone is OFF (not in T alk mode). 2. Pr ess STORE Soft k ey. 3. The scr een displays Select Button Location . Press a One-Touch/Memor y Log button (1- 10) to sav e the record in that memo ry location. NO TE: If ther e is a record stored in selec ted memor y location. Pr ess REPLA C E Soft k ey to conrm ov erwrit e or pr ess the BA CK Soft key, then select a new location. 4. The scr een displays Enter Name . 5. Use the number pad to enter a name.

Pr ess the EDIT Soft k ey and edit the content acco rding to the steps in the “S toring R ecor d in One-T ouch Dialing ” in Memo ry section. NO TE: The left and right (DIR & CID) navigational butt ons allow the cursor to be mov ed. The dele te butt on can be used t o delete charact er or number t o the left of the cur sor. Reviewing Recor d in One-T ouch Memor y 1. Mak e sur e the phone is OFF (not in T alk mode). 2. Pr ess the DIR button. 3. Pr ess One-T ouch/Memor y Log button (1-10). Editing a Direct ory R ecor d 1. When r eviewing the director y recor ds, use the VOL (- or +) button to scr oll to the desir ed recor d. 2. Pr ess EDIT Soft k ey to enter edit mode. You may now change the name, if desir ed. Please r efer to section “Handset Name” for name editing method. 3. Pr ess SAVE Soft k ey to pr oceed to number change. Y ou may now change the number , if desir ed. 4. Pr ess SAVE Soft k ey to pr oceed to VIP T one Melody selection. Y ou may use VOL (- or +) k ey to sc roll to the selection you desir ed.

NO TE: Pr ess the BA CK Soft key t o keep the pr evious setting (mak ing no changes). Copying a Direct ory R ecor d You can copy one director y recor d or the whole director y fr om the handset extension to the base or f rom the base to desi red handset extension. In the ext ension handset: 1. While viewing the director y recor d, pr ess the COPY Soft k ey. 2. The scr een displays Copy Current R ecord or Entir e Directory? . Pr ess the CURR Soft k ey to copy the cur rent r ecord or pr ess the ENTIRE Soft key to copy the whole dir ector y. 3. After copying is nished, the screen displays Recor d Copied t o Base Unit! . In the Base Unit: 1. While viewing the director y recor d, pr ess the COPY Soft k ey. 2. The scr een displays Copy Current R ecord or Entir e Directory? . Pr ess the CURR Soft k ey to copy the cur rent r ecord or pr ess the ENTIRE Soft key to copy the whole dir ector y. 3. The extension list will be shown. Use the vol (- or +) button to select the desir ed extension handset for the recor d to be copied t o. 4. Pr ess the SELECT Soft key. The number of di rector y recor ds copied will be display ed in the base display with total number of recor ds to be copied. 5. After copying is nished, the base sc reen displays Recor d Copied! , and the handset scr een displays Saved. Deleting a Direct ory R ecor d 1. When r eviewing the director y recor ds lis t, use the VOL (- or +) button to scr oll to the desir ed recor d. 2. Pr ess the delete button on the phone to delete the r ecord. 3. The scr een displays Delete?. 4. Pr ess the YES Soft k ey to con rm the deletion. 5. Recor d Delet ed shows in the display. Deleting All Direct ory R ecor ds 1. Pr ess the DIR button to acti vate the phone book recor d list . 2. Pr ess and hold the delete button on the phone until the scr een displays DELETE ALL ?. 3. Pr ess the YES Soft k ey to con rm the deletion. 4. The scr een displays ALL DELETED .

Mak e sur e the phone is OFF (not in T alk mode). 2. Pr ess the DIR button to access the phone boo k. 3. Use the VOL (- or +) button to sc roll to the desi red r ecor d. 4. Pr ess the Talk or Spk button on the handset or pr ess the speakerline 1/2 button or pick up the handset on the base. The number dials automatically. Dialing a One-Touch/Memor y R ecor d (Only applicable for base) while in T alk mode: 1. Mak e sur e the phone is ON (in T alk mode) by pr essing Spk button, selecting a Line, or pick up handse t. 2. Pr ess the One-Touch/Memor y Log button to access the memor y log. -OR- while reviewing it: 1. Mak e sur e the phone is OFF (not in T alk mode). 2. Pr ess the DIR button to access the phone boo k. 3. Pr ess the One-Touch/Memor y Log button to select the desir ed recor d. 4. Pr ess the speaker or line 1/2 or pick up the handset on the base. The number dials automatically.
40 Answ ering S ystem Operation Ther e are tw o mailb oxes in the system. One is for Line 1 and another is for Line 2. For memo r ecording, y ou can select which mailb ox is used to r ecord the memo . Answering S ystem On/Off Press and hold the base ans sys button for 2 seconds to switch this f unction On or Off with the v oice pr ompt. The Answ ering system light illuminates when the f unction is activated. If the ans sys button indicator is ashing, pressing it will go to the Play Message display. When y ou press and hold the ans sys button to switch the answ ering system On, the answ ering f unction for Line 1 and Line 2 will be acti vated accor ding to the setting in the menu. (For example, in the menu setting, L1 is set to ON and L2 is set to OFF . Press and hold the ans sys button to switch it On. The ans wering f unction for L1 is activ ated, and L2 will be Of f. Pr ess and hold the ans sys button again to switch both L1 and L2 answ ering f unction Of f. Other wise, pr essing the button will display Line 1 and Line 2 On/Off status for 3 seconds. Recor ding Incoming Messages The unit will ans wer incoming calls or routed calls after X rings (pick up delay set in Menu) and play the ou tgoing gr eeting. After hearing the g reeting follow ed by a long beep , the caller can lea ve a message. If the re is a new message r ecorded in the unit , the Answering system indicator will ash, and the envelope icon shows in the L CD. NO TE: Y our unit will r ecord a message up to the maximum length of time y ou set as long as the caller continues spea king. T o save recor ding capacity, y our unit will aut omatically st op recor ding aft er 7 seconds of silence or if ther e is a st eady dial t one for 7 seconds. Y our unit can recor d up to 60 minutes of incoming messages. The maximum r ecording time for each incoming message can be set in Menu. Monit oring Incoming Calls Whenev er an incoming message is being recor ded y ou can hear it thr ough the speaker if Call Scr eening is On. To tak e the call, p ress Talk , speak er or line button and the system stops r ecording.
